1979 Porsche 911 Sc Targa 2-door 3.0l 60408 Miles Original Survivor Very Nice on 2040-cars
Easton, Pennsylvania, United States
This auction is for a 1979 Porsche 911 Targa that is equipped with a 5 speed 912 transmission and the 3.0 engine. I believe these are original to the car but do not have the COA to verify. I purchased this car several months ago from a long time owner that left it sit in a dry garage for over 15 years. I have sorted it out to the point where it is a very nice driver. Engine starts easily and only smokes a little after initial start up as most do. Trans shifts up well but the past owner had a short shift kit installed and it needs to be adjusted to work extremely well. In order to get it into 1st gear car must be stopped fully. The Porsche tag on the drivers side shows this was built 1/79 and the paint code is 30T-9-3 which is a Light Blue Metallic with the bright blue interior and leather seats. The interior is very nice and the dash has no cracks. The carpet cover to protect it will go with the car. The original black carpeting is in very good condition and the nearly new coca mats with matching blue highlights will go with the car. All gauges work including the clock. There is absolutely NO RUST on this car, the under carriage, pans and rockers are extremely clean. This car is not perfect and does have a couple small stone chips and one very small ding on the passenger door lower left corner which is hard to see in the photos. The engine starts easily, runs strong and smokes a little bit after start up after it has sat for several days. It has had a recent oil and filter change using a Porsche oil filter. This vehicle has a A/C unit installed but did not blow cold air when I purchased it. I removed the A/C Compressor but left everything else on the car in case someone wanted to put it back into service and the compressor and bracket will be included in the auction. The trunk is extremely clean and the car comes with it's original tool kit along with a used but good extra fan belt that has the Porsche name on it. The box shown in the photo has a new Porsche fuel filter for the car that will also go with it. The tires have very little wear and are Yokohama AVID V45's 205/55R16 89V. The wheels are in very nice condition for the age of the vehicle.. I have posted photos of all. Comes with 2 sets of keys as shown The Targa top shows a little wear from age. This vehicle has a current PA State inspection. I have posted many photos of the car for you to determine the condition and if this car is right for you, all sales are final. If there is something you would like to see in a photo please contact me. I have included a Buy it Now price in case you do not want to wait till the end of the auction - The only way I will end this auction early is if someone selects the Buy it Now price or I have made a mistake in the listing. This vehicle is being sold As Is Where Is and the buyer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and costs. If you would like to view the vehicle please contact me to make an appointment. No Joy Rides. No Dreamers. High bidder will be the new owner. $1000 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payment in full is due within 7 days of auction unless prior arrangements have been made. If you would like to speak to me concerning this vehicle please email me your phone number and I will call you ASAP. |

The Rolls-Royce Phantom leads this month's list of discounts
Wed, Jun 16 2021Every month, we take a look at vehicle sales data in America to pick out the vehicles with the largest monetary discount. Usually, the list is dominated by high-performance two-door luxury sports cars. This month is different. Much to our surprise, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom stands above all others with an average discount of $18,588 off the price quoted on its window sticker. Now, it bears mentioning that an $18,000-plus discount still only represents 3.46% of its $537,500 average retail price, and that the resulting $518,912 cost to drive off the showroom floor still makes the Phantom an extremely expensive range-topping luxury sedan. Still, even very wealthy people won't snicker at that kind of savings. Up next is another unlikely newcomer to the biggest-discount chart: the 2020 Porsche Taycan. The electric super sedan's average sticker price of $152,250 is cut to $135,707 after a discount of $16,453 is lopped off. That represents a savings of nearly 11%. We can't say how many of the Taycan's buyers over the last month will be able to claim tax rebates due to the Taycan's status as an electric vehicle, but that could potentially represent a further cut off the car's sticker. Rounding out the top three is the 2020 Maserati Quattroporte. Buyers of this Italian luxury sedan are saving an average of $13,839 for an average transaction price of $87,646. We normally only share the top three, but this month's list is interesting enough that we'll share some more. In fourth and fifth place are the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (with an average $13,239 discount) and the 2021 BMW 7 Series (with an average $12,435 discount) followed by the 2020 Rolls-Royce Wraith — interestingly enough also with a savings of 3.46% — and the 2020 Maserati Levante and Ghibli. Chris Harris pits Aston GT12 vs 911 GT3 RS vs McLaren 650S
Wed, Oct 21 2015The Geneva Motor Show is never lacking in exciting performance machinery. And this year was no exception. Our eyes, like those of Chris Harris, were drawn by two hardcore, track-focused versions of existing sports cars. Both wore the name GT3, and now Harris has brought them together for a supercar shootout. And he's thrown one more in for good measure. Those natural rivals are the Aston Martin Vantage GT12 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the latter manufacturer having pressed the former to drop the GT3 name to which it claims exclusive domain. There's a great deal that separates them, of course: one's got a V12 up front, the other a flat-six way in the back. But what binds them together is a common approach of taking an existing model, stripping it down, and tightening everything up to make it more of a weapon than a grand tourer. What that means in the Aston's case is a rather high price tag, much higher than that of the Porsche. But scarce demand and speculation on the open market have left British customers, at least, paying as much for the GT3 RS as for the limited-edition Aston. And that takes both into proper supercar territory. So to show what else that kind of money can get you, Monkey has brought along a McLaren. Not the similarly track-focused 675LT, but the standard 650S... Spider, no less, and with worn hard rubber. So which one performs best on the road? Which clocks the fastest lap time on the track? And which gets Harris' vote? You'll have to watch the video for yourself to find out, but it's well worth the 25 minutes of your lunch break.
