The history and development of the Porsche Carrera RS is very well documented,
and needs no further explanation as to the evolution of the early G series, US Carrera Model.
This 1975 Carrera Coupe follows in the wake of it’s illustrious predecessor, the 1973 Carrera RS.
This is an original un-molested car, right down to it's original US specification ride height!
The Certificate of Authenticity on hand for this car, shows this to be # 151 of the 395 made for the US market.
The Guards (India) Red/G8 and Black Leatherette/16 colour combination suit this Porsche perfectly,
and is complemented by the fabulous Factory Recaro Sport Seats, Electric Sunroof and Power Windows.
This car stands out as it has the very rare options of the full RS front oil cooler and front RS/Carrera Turbo
alloy brake calipers.
The rear whale tail spoiler, unique to this model, is also found on the early Carrera Turbos.
With 97k original miles, it was time to have it refreshed sympathetically.
The car had a full windows out repaint in it’s original Guards Red colour.
The car was delivered to it's original owner, in Arizona, before I brought it into California, so the car is dry
and rust free,
and no rust repairs were needed.
I had the seats re-upholstered, and new carpets installed by my Concourse Award Winning upholsterer.
The original Factory dash is in remarkably fine uncracked original condition.
Mechanically the car is well dialed in, and performs flawlessly.
The original engine, known to be volatile by nature, was replaced early in the car’s life with a blank cased 7R
Factory Replacement engine of the correct year and type.
Upon inspection this engine has been overhauled with inserts, and includes the updated Carrera hydraulic
tensioners.
At the same time, the problem causing thermal reactors were removed and a new sports exhaust system installed.
No smog is required for CA.
The private plate does not accompany the car.
This Porsche offered and described here is an honest example of a really nice and well sorted 1975 US Carrera.
It is ready to be used and enjoyed, as is, without further expense.
A delight to drive, all the controls work perfectly, clutch is smooth and gentle, the engine strong and powerful.
This car is eminently suitable and is eligible to enter many of the Classic Rallys and Tours that are currently
available, and gaining in popularity.
I consider this to be a wonderful driver quality Porsche, and it is capable of winning it’s class at any
Regional Porsche Club of America Concourse.
The car is titled, licensed and registered in my name, and comes with fresh registration for a year, and is insured
with Hagerty.

Raiding The Porsche Museum For A Fun Track Day
It seems everyone is celebrating anniversaries this year: it's Aston's hundredth, Lamborghini's fiftieth, Ford Mustang's fiftieth, Chevy Corvette's sixtieth - and Tesla just turned ten or something. It's been a little out of hand, frankly, all these forced marketing festivities, but if we had to pick one milestone to really celebrate hard and party all night, the Porsche 911 would be at the top of our list.
Get ready for a major 911 blowout bash at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show. It was on September 12 back in 1963 at this very show where Porsche unveiled its "901" painted in a rather boring shade of beige. Though drably finished, the car caused a worldwide frenzy in the budding German sports car sphere.

Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar

Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.

Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.
