1974 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA COUPE 2.7 LTR. This 1974 Porsche 911’s flared rear wheel wells, duck-tail spoiler and audacious “Carrera” body side graphics serve to announce to one and all that it was the most potent 911 of its era. First produced in 1972, by 1974 the 911 had changed in appearance to adapt to U.S. crash protection standards that required 5 MPH bumpers. Fortunately, the 911 handled the change without affecting the car’s famous profile. New bumpers backed with impact absorbers were incorporated, and the Carrera’s athletic new look only added to its racy personality. This 1974 911 Carrera coupe has benefited from proper maintenance and care, and now shows just 69,000 original miles. It is very original with a single repaint in the correct B-code Light Yellow paint and boasts an original rust free undercarriage as well as an original condition black interior. The Carrera’s 2.7 liter fuel-injected flat-6 engine was recently removed and resealed in July 2013. No wear was detected and the engine passed a leakdown test with excellent results. All mechanical systems were inspected at the same time and any needed repairs were performed. The car has only been driven a few hundred miles since these repairs were made. This 911 performs / drives amazing with no known mechanical issues. (At some point, an a/c system was installed and then removed years later). In addition to the Carrera-standard rear spoiler, Bilstein shocks and extra-wide Fuchs aluminum wheels, this well-kept 911 has an electric sunroof, tinted glass and AM/FM radio with manual antenna. Documentation includes service / maintenance records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Overall, this is a special car and a great opportunity to purchase a rare piece of Porsche history which is guaranteed to bring you pleasures both behind the wheel as well as constant growth in your investment portfolio! Please feel free to contact Paulo at (301) 370-6866 with any questions or to schedule a visit or test drive. Vehicle is sold as-is and where-is with no written nor expressed warranties. 2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store or when the updated model will hit showrooms.
Up front, expect the Cayenne's new face to resemble what was just revealed on the 2014 Panamera, and we could also see this SUV using some of the new engines introduced on the Panamera including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or maybe even the E-Hybrid model. We're guessing that the new Cayenne could debut sometime next year likely for the 2015 model year. In the meantime, check out the gallery of spy shots above.
The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR goes mid-engine, purists be damned
Wed, Nov 16 2016Porsche unveiled its World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Championship competitor with the 2017 911 RSR. And this 911 is different from the rest, as the 4.0-liter flat-six engine powering this beast is in front of the rear axle, not behind it. That's right, this 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor ditches the iconic rear-engine layout. Porsche isn't talking specifics on how exactly things are arranged back there. The engine is new, now based on the 991 911's block instead of the previous Mezger motor that's been used for years. The transmission design is new as well – it would have to be to accommodate the new location relative to the engine. The racecar has been engineered to meet the LM-GTE class, where it will go up against other mid-engine cars like the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE. Moving the engine to the middle has given Porsche the ability to fit the 911 RSR with massive bits of aero, like the humongous rear diffuser that looks like it would be more at home on a machine of war. The only thing that can compete with the diffuser for size is the top-mounted rear wing, which shares a similar design to the one found on the 919 Hybrid. Going back to the engine, the direct-injected boxer motor, depending on the size of the restrictor, generates as much as 510 horsepower and sends all of its fury to the rear wheels. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which drivers can employ through paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine doesn't have a lot of weight to push around as the 911 RSR, as required by regulations, weighs 2,740 pounds. Speaking of weight, the engine layout isn't the only change for the 911 RSR. For 2017, the car ditches its steel body for one that's made out of carbon fiber. The body attaches to the chassis via quick-release fasteners, making the vehicle easier to service as exterior elements can be removed with minimal effort. The racecar also gets a radar-based collision system – aptly named the "Collision Avoid System" – which is meant to limit the 911 RSR's encounters with faster LMP prototypes. Only time will tell if the new layout and aerodynamic components help the 911 RSR beat its competition. But there will be plenty of opportunities to see the racecar in action as Porsche plans to run the 911 RSR in 19 races during the 2017 season, the first of which will take place at the IMSA opener on January 28th at Daytona, where the racecar will make its track day debut.
Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.
