This is a 911 project car, which needs paint as seen in the photos. The "shell" was painted with all the glass removed, and is finished. The doors, bumpers, lids have been treated on the undersides with POR 15 rust treatment, and need the visual surfaces painted to match the rest of the car. The rear license plate panel is alloy. The intent of the car is to look like an early 911 (door handles, mirrors, headlights etc.), with updated mechanicals.
The following are essentially new: Proper headlights, BT seats (one has a small tear on the base on the lower outside near the rail), headliner, big front sway bar (no rear bar), windshield, factory seals for the front and rear windows.
The engine is a 3.0 from an SC, with Webers, early heat exchangers, and muffler, MSD, Fuel King pressure regulator, Holley fuel pump in the secret compartment in the front near the fuel tank.
The transmission is a '74 915 with the "better" ring and pinion, with a 915 shift lever, alloy clutch (as I remember?), and the 4 bolt halfshafts.
Front brakes are the alloy S ones, rear are the regular small ones that came on the car. Front struts are from an SC.
There is a welded-in strut brace between the front strut towers.
Rust is superficial on the doors, and fenders, and should clean up during painting. The tow hook is solid, as are the jacking points.
The rally lights come with 2 sets of covers. The wheels are the early Fuchs 6 x 15, with Kumho 205/55 tires all new, 3 match since one was ruined by the tire shop and it was replaced with another at their expense as the original tire (1 Ecsta RSX and 3 Ecsta Supra) was not available. The anodizing on the wheels (the black part) is weathered, so is painted satin black.
The headliner was installed and no passenger sun visor holes were made (the visor is included) and the interior lights were removed. Rubber mats are on the floor, the carpet and driver's door seal are bad, the rear seats are worn but there.
The car runs strong I would say, shifts well, brakes well, steers well (but should be aligned I used strings and a toe gauge, and should be really gone through before any long trips, unless you are brave.
The wiring was missing in places, so has been fixed, all the lights, wipers, heater fan, etc work. The rear glass is clear ( no heating element), but the switch is retained, and runs the fuel pump.
On Apr-28-13 at 14:55:39 PDT, seller added the following information:
Note: the fuel gauge doesn't match the sender, so the gauge reads 1/2 full when it's full. I set the odometer and go by that.
Also the seats are BF Torino, not BT (typo), and the cardboard shows how much oil the car leaks after a long run sitting overnight (it's engine oil, not transmission, and comes from the front part of the engine...towards the front of the car). Fuel tank was boiled and coated inside at a radiator shop, and Stabil has always been used over the winter when the car sat.

2014 Porsche 911 Targa
Tue, 15 Apr 2014I've watched the electro-hydraulic roof panel open and close about 73 times in the past hour, but its fascinatingly complicated operation still has me mesmerized. I've concluded that only a German automaker - Porsche, to be more specific - would go through the trouble of engineering a roof system that essentially lifts the entire greenhouse off a vehicle, rearranges its components like a sliding-tile puzzle, and then reassembles all of them seamlessly (sans roof panel) to accurately recreate one of its most famed bodystyles.
The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa is a near-perfect modern interpretation of the automaker's 1965 911 Targa, a semi-convertible bodystyle that represents nearly 13 percent of all 911 models sold since production started 50 years ago. While the early car's roof was purely manual in operation - that's the period-correct way of saying that the driver did all of the muscle work - today's Targa is a completely automated transformation that requires only that the driver hold down a cabin-mounted switch for a mere 19 seconds to let the captivating show run its course.
After studying the Targa's elaborate roof operation at its launch at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, I was sufficiently intrigued. To that end, I traveled one-third of the way around the planet to southern Italy, hoping that the Mediterranean climate would reveal a bit more about the reintroduction of the automaker's iconic sports car.
Audi outlasts rivals to win 13th Le Mans title
Sun, 15 Jun 2014As is so often the case, the 2014 Le Mans was a war of attrition, and Audi managed to prevail once again after all 24 hours had been recorded in the history books, with its Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro claiming first and second places, followed by Toyota in third. Drivers Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer inherited the lead in their No. 2 Audi after the No. 7 Toyota, driven by pole-sitter Kazuki Nakajima, was forced to retire with electrical problems in the 15th hour.
The No. 2 Audi led the race until it was forced to the pits to replace a turbocharger in the 17th hour, allowing the No. 1 Audi, driven by Lucas di Grassi, Marc Gene (who was a last-minute replacement for Loic Duval, who crashed hard during practice) and defending champion Tom Kristensen, led the race until the 21st hour, when it too had to pit with turbocharger issues. This gave the No. 20 Porsche of Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, and Mark Webber the lead until it was forced off the track with gearbox problems, eventually finishing in 38th position.
In LMP2, the Jota Sport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan driven by Simon Dolan, Harry Tincknell and Oliver Turvey claimed victory, the first five LMP2 finishers all powered by Nissan. Down a level in GTE-Pro, No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 driven by Gianmaria Bruni, Toni Vilander and Giancarlo Fisichella finished one lap ahead of the leading Corvette Racing C7.R. And finally, the No. 95 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE driven by Kristian Poulsen, David HeinemeierHansson and Nicki Thiim won the GTE-Am race two laps ahead of a Proton Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.
Porsche Cayenne spied unconstrained by camouflage
Thu, 05 Jun 2014Meet the facelifted Porsche Cayenne. Our eagle-eyed spy shooters captured this example of Porsche's freshened SUV virtually devoid of camo, giving us our clearest look yet at what the eventual mid-cycle work will do to the strong-selling Cayenne.
The overall changes do, indeed, look minor, with a reprofiled intake being the most obvious item. The headlights are still covered, so we don't know what kind of jeweling has been done, but the shape does appear identical to the current model. Overall, the changes appear totally in line with a mid-cycle refresh.
As we explained previously, a plug-in Cayenne is on the way. It will join a crop of engines that is likely to be similar to what's on offer today, with naturally aspirated, turbocharged, hybrid and diesel variants released over time.
