If you want to (re)capture the thrill of the true Porsche driving experience, or are looking for a sound automotive investment, look no further than this beautiful Porsche 911 T Targa. The car belonged to the owner of a Porsche repair shop, who did the modifications. After that it spent several years in a private collection in Colorado, where it saw very few miles, but did garner some concours ribbons (included).
This car is so much fun to drive, and turns heads everywhere it goes. The distinctive white racing stripes on black are echoed in the interior with period correct Recaro sport seats featuring white leather inserts. The interior is beautiful; all carpets etc have been replaced. The clock is the only thing that doesn't work, but is intact and can be repaired (this is a typical issue). The car is fitted with a Momo steering wheel, but the original wheel is included. The body is solid with no rust, no filler. Even the battery boxes are fine and the car is currently fitted with a gel battery in the smuggler's box. Spare Fuchs is intact and included. The car has been fitted with a ducktail, and has the S option spoiler.
Handling is superb , as the car is fitted with Bilstein 'green' struts, after market adjustable anti-sway bars and a tower brace. Braking is also excellent due to the later model Carrera brakes which are currently fitted. The original S type aluminum calipers, disks and spare pads are included in the sale to maintain the cars authenticity.
Now to the drive train. This car flys! The transmission was rebuilt with a short track "airport" gear set which reduces the to speed to about 125 MPH, but it flys through the gears to get there. The 915 transmission is smoothest I have driven, and the kevlar clutch is new, flywheel was resurfaced, and transaxles rebuilt. While the engine was out I also had the engine resealed (gaskets, main seal) It has a short shift kit. The original engine has been bumped up to 2.7 litres, and the build was meticulous. I estimate this engine to have approx. 125 HP. Webber carbs were added, SC cams, turbo chains and valve covers, and upgraded chain tensioners. Ignition is via a Permatune unit with Nology wires. The car is equipped with SSI heat exchangers, and a dual outlet exhaust. The sound is intoxicating. The cars pulls strongly to redline at 7,300 RPM. With a weight to HP ratio close to 10:1 this car really holds it's own. Power is smooth through out the power band, but really comes on above 4,000 RPM. There is also a large front mount oil cooler with a Mocal thermostat and braided stainless steel lines.
These cars are rapidly increasing in value, and the 1973 911T was selected by Porsche to restore to be raffled in 2011 in support of PCA. A Porsche official at that time declared it one of the most collectible cars in the Porsche model line. I will trully miss this car and I am sure I will come to regret the sale, but my track car seems to take all my time (and money), so I hate to see this car languish in the garage.
The car is currently located in Ottawa Canada, and buyer is responsible for pick-up/shipping. if you have any questions please contact me and I will respond promptly.

Note: I made a few errors in the listing:
"transaxles rebuilt" should read "CV Joints rebuilt"
"125 HP" should read "225 HP"
I apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

Chris Harris pits Aston GT12 vs 911 GT3 RS vs McLaren 650S
Wed, Oct 21 2015The Geneva Motor Show is never lacking in exciting performance machinery. And this year was no exception. Our eyes, like those of Chris Harris, were drawn by two hardcore, track-focused versions of existing sports cars. Both wore the name GT3, and now Harris has brought them together for a supercar shootout. And he's thrown one more in for good measure. Those natural rivals are the Aston Martin Vantage GT12 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the latter manufacturer having pressed the former to drop the GT3 name to which it claims exclusive domain. There's a great deal that separates them, of course: one's got a V12 up front, the other a flat-six way in the back. But what binds them together is a common approach of taking an existing model, stripping it down, and tightening everything up to make it more of a weapon than a grand tourer. What that means in the Aston's case is a rather high price tag, much higher than that of the Porsche. But scarce demand and speculation on the open market have left British customers, at least, paying as much for the GT3 RS as for the limited-edition Aston. And that takes both into proper supercar territory. So to show what else that kind of money can get you, Monkey has brought along a McLaren. Not the similarly track-focused 675LT, but the standard 650S... Spider, no less, and with worn hard rubber. So which one performs best on the road? Which clocks the fastest lap time on the track? And which gets Harris' vote? You'll have to watch the video for yourself to find out, but it's well worth the 25 minutes of your lunch break. Porsche bringing Macan S Diesel to US instead of 4-cylinder [w/poll]
Mon, 16 Dec 2013When Porsche unveiled the new Macan at the LA Auto Show, it announced two powerplants for the US market, both of them twin-turbo V6s: the Macan S equipped with 340 horsepower from its 3.0-liter engine, and the Macan Turbo with 400 horses from 3.6 liters. But those aren't the only engines Porsche will offer in its new compact crossover. Porsche is also offering the Macan S Diesel overseas with 258 hp, and reports have since indicated that a pair of four-cylinder models on their way: a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 hp and four-pot turbodiesel of the same capacity with an as-yet undisclosed output.
Now Car and Driver is reporting that while those four-cylinder engines won't be making the transatlantic voyage to our shores, Porsche will offer the aforementioned Macan S Diesel in North America beginning in early 2015, nearly a year after the gas V6 versions arrive.
The 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is based on the same engine found in the Cayenne Diesel and the Audi Q5 TDI on which the Macan is based. Of course, its 248 hp is substantially less than the 340 ponies in the Macan S, but its 413 pound-feet of torque outshines not only the 339 lb-ft in the Macan S but also the 406 lb-ft in the Macan Turbo. Acceleration times, however, suggest the Macan S Diesel is still slower, with a 6.3-second run to 62 mph than neither the Macan S (5.4 sec) or Macan Turbo (4.8). The good news is that the Macan S Diesel is tipped to undercut the price of both, dropping the oil-burning crossover's MSRP below that of the $49,900 starting price for the Macan S and the $49,600 for the base Cayenne. If that C/D prediction comes to pass, that will make it the Macan S Diesel most affordable Porsche sold.
Porsche Pajun to go all-electric as Tesla rival
Wed, Jan 28 2015Porsche has been rumored to be working on a smaller counterpart to the Panamera for nearly four years now, but we have yet to see any sign of the model dubbed Pajun coming to fruition beyond a digital rendering hidden in the background of another Porsche design. Apparently Stuttgart has been having trouble making the business case in an already crowded market segment. But that doesn't mean the project is completely off the table. According to the latest from Germany's own Auto Motor und Sport, Porsche is now planning to launch the so-called Pajun (shorthand for Panamera Junior just like the Macan project was previously called Cajun) purely as an electric vehicle. With an eye evidently fixed on how dedicated hybrids and EVs are gaining traction in the marketplace (to say nothing of actual tarmac), the electric Pajun - almost certain to carry a different name to the showroom – would be different enough to distinguish itself from existing four-doors of that size like the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, et al. Word has it that Porsche believes that battery technologies will advance enough over the next four years to give its four-door EV a range of nearly 250 miles on a single charge. The model's arrival would be just the latest in a series of environmental concessions made by the company with the broadest range of plug-in hybrids on the market. Aside from the E-Hybrid versions of the Panamera and Cayenne, Porsche arguably led the charge (so to speak) towards hybrid hypercars with the 918 Spyder, is downsizing many of its engines and is turbocharging almost the entirety of the 911 range.
