1959 Porsche Speedster 356

Vintage Speedster Replica

659 Miles

This is a gorgeous, high quality 1959 Porsche Speedster Replica with only 659 original miles.  Made by Vintage Speedsters in Southern California, this is a highly convincing replica with a gorgeous color combination.  This car has been garaged and rarely used,  gently driven and very well cared for.   It has the optimal 1915 CC motor with dual carburetors and freeway flyer four speed transmission.  See the pictures of the motor.  This is an excellent example of a well cared for Porsche.

This is exceptionally clean with an amazing paint job (no dings or dents) in silver/blue with red leather interior.  Note the blue tone of the paint (it’s not silver).  The car has a finished deck and trunk, nicely fitted cocoa matts and doors.  The black canvass top easily snaps on/off and is in perfect condition;   it fits perfectly with all of the snaps and fasteners accurately placed on both car and canvas.  The seats are nicely finished in red leather. All accessories are in working order. Side windows are included.

The car is titled as a 1959 Volkswagon and is located in El Dorado Hills, California.  This is a high quality and well-built Speedster that turns heads and is an excellent opportunity to own a replica of a legendary Porsche 356 at a fraction of factory cost.  It’s a great driver and runs very well.   It’s never been smoked in.

The car also has painted bumpers, turn signals, cat-eye rear brake lights, chrome body mouldings, chrome hub caps,  Stuttgarter Karosseriewerk Reutter & Co Fender Tag.

This is a 49 state vehicle and can not be sold to residents of California.

Please email me through Ebay should you have any questions.

Porsche would have entered F1 if Audi had blocked its Le Mans program

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Go back a few years and you may have heard rumors of Porsche heading into Formula One. That never came to pass - or at least, it hasn't yet - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't close to happening. That's how committed to returning to top-level motorsport competition Porsche has become recently.
Autosport reports that just as Porsche was merging fully into the Volkswagen Group, Zuffenhausen was weighing its options for a factory racing program. Le Mans was its favorite, which makes sense, as it remains far and away the most successful constructor in the history of the famous endurance race. But the strategists at Porsche were worried that its new corporate overlords at Volkswagen wouldn't support two LMP1 programs and would favor Audi, which has positively dominated the modern era of endurance racing, coming second only to Porsche in the number of Le Mans victories it has scored to date.
Porsche's Plan B was reportedly to head into Formula One, although it isn't clear if the German automaker was intent on starting its own team, buying an existing one or merely providing engines to other teams. Porsche fielded its own cars in F1 in the late 1950s and early 60s, and returned as an engine supplier with TAG to power McLaren in the 1980s, powering Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to the World Championship in 1984 and 1985.

Porsche Cayman, Boxster caught in GTS trim

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

A few months ago, we reported on some leaked information from an internal presentation for upcoming Porsche models. This included details about the Macan and the 911 Targa, which we now know to be true, but there was also talk about GTS versions of the Cayman and Boxster.
Well, it appears we're now getting our first look at these GTS models, as our spy photographers have just snapped a pair of Porsche prototypes out testing - one Cayman and one Boxster.
Right off the bat, we can see that both GTS-branded cars will get a slightly tweaked exterior with new fascias (bringing LED daytime running lights to the Cayman) and air diffusers at the rear. The true gem of these cars will be the added horsepower to the tune of 340 horsepower - a 15-hp bump. A manual transmission will likely be standard, as will Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

Porsche creates 'symphony' with seven generations of 911

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

At Porsche, things are getting a bit wild on the 50th anniversary year of the 911. To celebrate it (again) in yet another inventive way, the automaker has called on the musical talents of seven generations of the rear-engine sports car (please suspend your disbelief, at least for the length of the video, and assume that generation two started in 1974) to perform a song that has eight notes. We're wondering which 911 is pulling double duty...
But before the Porsches are lined up for the short recital, the drivers let loose and drift them inside a hangar. Watch the video below, and tell us in comments which was more impressive: the song or the drifting.
