This is an absolutely beautiful Porsche 1963B coupe.  Never rusty, never in an accident, always lovingly cared for, this car had the original 7 coats of "show paint" as ordered from the factory until only a few years ago when it was stripped to bare metal, coated with epoxy primer and repainted the original color.  The paint is impeccable. The dashboard paint is still the original and matches beautifully.  The original dash instrument rings show minor pitting but were left as original to reveal the high quality of the condition the car was in prior to restoration. All instruments except the clock work.  The clock should be removed and repaired.  The original AM/FM/SW Blaupunkt radio works well as do the horns.  The door panels and rear seats are also original and of very high original quality.  The engine and transmission are the originals and were both rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago.  Everything works as it should and the car drives very smooth and shifting is tight and smooth as it should be. Solid original floor pan, original 6 volt system.  From the original carburetors to the  correct Bosch 6 volt regulator, this Porsche is as honest to the way it rolled off the factory floor as I have seen in many years. This car was always well maintained and never fell into a state of disrepair or neglect.  The pistons and cylinders were changed to 1720cc for an upgrade in acceleration, but the car's original pistons and cylinders are included in the sale, as are the original tool kit, manual, service book, key fob from Porsche, and the very rare luggage option (plaid checkered suit case still with original factory cardboard interior packaging) as received from the factory when the car was picked up in Germany.

The picture near Area 51 (the Nevada "Ball-home complex") is of the car with original paint just prior to restoration.

My wife and I have owned this beautiful California car for many years.  It is truly a rare beauty, an absolute pleasure to drive and in absolutely beautiful condition. The car is currently located in Florida (CA registration is current).  I have experience in dealing with cross-country and overseas shipping to Europe and Australia should that be necessary and would be glad to cooperate with your shipper.  If you want to see other photos email me and I will do what I can to send what you want.

Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked. Scroll down to read the report from the regulator or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

2012 TechArt Porsche 911 is visually dazzling, both inside and out

Wed, 07 Mar 2012

One way to ensure that your brand-new Porsche 911 (a.k.a. 991) won't look like the one in your neighbor's driveway is to give TechArt a call. The famed German tuner has rolled out its version of the latest Carrera and Carrera S at the Geneva Motor Show and trust us, it won't be mistaken for anything from the factory in Stuttgart.
Up front, TechArt has fitted its own unique two-part spoiler with integrated splitter while more aggressive side skirts adorn the rocker panels. The rear has a new lower diffuser, wrapped around the TechArt exhaust, and a large fixed rear wing (complete with an integrated third brake light). Look more closely to notice the subtle trim panels on the exterior mirrors and front headlights. The wheels are lightweight forged 20- and 21-inch alloys with matching paint on their rims.
Inside the heavily modified cabin are even more drastic enhancements (let's say TechArt has gone over the top). Don't let the aluminum pedals be a distraction as you inspect the black Alcantara and high-grade leather covering nearly every square inch. Flirting with gaudy, the dark upholstery is contrasted by vehicle-color-coordinated stitching and painted trim splashed throughout. However, the icing on the cake is an insanely thick TechArt three-spoke sports steering wheel.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
