1964 Porsche 356 Sc Cabriolet 1 Owner Matching #'s All Paperwork Incl Hardtop on 2040-cars
Boulder, Colorado, United States
1964 Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet - 1 Owner My dad served in the USAF in Hamburg, Germany. He bought his first Porsche 356, a super 90 in 1963. One day while traveling along the countryside in Germany a car pulled out in front of him causing a T-bone crash. My father's super 90 was totaled and he was forced to buy another Porsche. At that point the SC Cabriolet had just been offered and he said he really wanted a one because of the 12volt system, more engine horsepower and overall more refined car. At that time in late 64 the SC's on a lot in Germany were sold before they were delivered. My dad patiently waited to find one without any luck. Until one day, he got a call from the local Porsche dealers owner offering to sell him his own dealer demo. My dad jumped on it and purchased this cabriolet July 6th, 1965 (49 years ago). My dad used to race it in Germany as a hobby (view photos). My father gave me this porsche and unfortunately I am selling it to buy a house. It has been a long thought out process and an incredibly difficult decision but I believe it is in my best interest to sell this car and move in a different direction for myself and my future. We have received notes ever since I was a kid asking if we would sell the car, for the very first time it is for sale and will be sold!! The car runs, drives and can be driven in its current state but I would recommend taking the plunge and restoring this piece of history. The original color is Irish Green but was painted Ruby Red in the 80s when my dad wanted a color change Matching Engine and Transmission #'s Engine: 820112 Transmission: 70760 (741/0) The Motor/Transmission and drivetrain were all been rebuilt in the early 2000's and have been driven a limited amount since. Runs and drives and clutch is very sticky and transmission feels good. Interior Black interior - front seats need recovering and rears look good just need a solid cleaning Windshield wipers work, blinkers, tachometer, speedometer, odometer, horn, radio all work. There is a vertical crack in the windshield glass. Carpet is dirty, rough and could use replacement Interior door panels are in great shape, the windows roll up and down easily. Locks lock from inside and outside. Body and Rust Body is in ok shape, the front end has had some work on it and the last body man welded a couple plates on it so you could pull it out and straighten it. There are dents and rust. The rust is on both driver/passenger lower front fender, drivers front floor pan, some misc areas on the floors, front clip by front head lights and misc other spots. For the best results fixing it would be a rotisserie restoration. Underbody has some dents and rust - view photos Top Convertible - needs replacement but the actual frame is in good condition and locks against windshield frame tight Hardtop is included - no rear glass except the rear windshield (new rear glass) Misc Additional parts are included (view photos to see extra parts that are pictured) - spare tire we have and is included included Paperwork I have every record that this car has ever had and the stack is huge! Everything is in chronological order and it was serviced and maintained by some of the greatest shops in the country. Also included is the original black/white Colorado Title from 1965 and a Colorado Bill of Sale. Front Clip The only reason the front clip headlamps, bumper and misc parts have been removed is because my dad almost had a complete restoration started in 2003 but parked it instead in a heated garage due to a passing in the family. It sat in this heated facility for the last 9 years until 2 months ago when I pulled it out and took it to a local specialist to rebuild the carbs, drain the fluids and get it running again. It is running great but needs to be driven to clean out the engine. Each week since I got it back from the shop I have been starting it and driving it around the block but due to lack of headlamps, no current tags I can only drive a limited amount. Extras: Hardtop and new rear glass for hardtop 356 3ring binder (shop manual) Owners manual etc This 356 would be a great candidate for a full restoration, addition to your collection or store it and let it continue to appreciate in value. Overall: This is a beautiful Porsche 356 Classic. It would make the perfect weekend warrior, beach cruiser or addition to your collection. The Porsche is used, needs a restoration and 50 years old. It is hard to capture all the blemishes and areas that need attention but it is a perfect restoration candidate. I am not a Porsche specialist so I may have missed something so be sure to ask all questions you have prior to bidding or winning the 356. The car is being sold as is, where is, without warranty or guarantees. I am not required for your state emission or safety inspections including Colorado. Shipping: If you are out of state and need to have this Jeep shipped, call M&E Auto Transport #606-354-3643. Michael is great to work with and offers competitive pricing, quick pickup and delivery. He helped me ship a few vehicles back to Colorado from other areas in the country. Conclusion: A $1000 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction via paypal. All sales are final. The final payment must be received within 7 days of auction end time. Payment options include cash upon pickup, Electronic Bank Transfer or Wire Transfer. I have sold multiple cars on ebay and can provide references if necessary. I reserve the right to remove the auction at anytime as this car is listed for sale locally as well. If you have any questions or would like to know anything more or make an offer feel free to calling or texting. #720-295-3372 |

The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR goes mid-engine, purists be damned
Wed, Nov 16 2016Porsche unveiled its World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Championship competitor with the 2017 911 RSR. And this 911 is different from the rest, as the 4.0-liter flat-six engine powering this beast is in front of the rear axle, not behind it. That's right, this 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor ditches the iconic rear-engine layout. Porsche isn't talking specifics on how exactly things are arranged back there. The engine is new, now based on the 991 911's block instead of the previous Mezger motor that's been used for years. The transmission design is new as well – it would have to be to accommodate the new location relative to the engine. The racecar has been engineered to meet the LM-GTE class, where it will go up against other mid-engine cars like the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE. Moving the engine to the middle has given Porsche the ability to fit the 911 RSR with massive bits of aero, like the humongous rear diffuser that looks like it would be more at home on a machine of war. The only thing that can compete with the diffuser for size is the top-mounted rear wing, which shares a similar design to the one found on the 919 Hybrid. Going back to the engine, the direct-injected boxer motor, depending on the size of the restrictor, generates as much as 510 horsepower and sends all of its fury to the rear wheels. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which drivers can employ through paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine doesn't have a lot of weight to push around as the 911 RSR, as required by regulations, weighs 2,740 pounds. Speaking of weight, the engine layout isn't the only change for the 911 RSR. For 2017, the car ditches its steel body for one that's made out of carbon fiber. The body attaches to the chassis via quick-release fasteners, making the vehicle easier to service as exterior elements can be removed with minimal effort. The racecar also gets a radar-based collision system – aptly named the "Collision Avoid System" – which is meant to limit the 911 RSR's encounters with faster LMP prototypes. Only time will tell if the new layout and aerodynamic components help the 911 RSR beat its competition. But there will be plenty of opportunities to see the racecar in action as Porsche plans to run the 911 RSR in 19 races during the 2017 season, the first of which will take place at the IMSA opener on January 28th at Daytona, where the racecar will make its track day debut.
Best compact SUVs of 2022
Thu, Oct 20 2022Compact SUVs are now the go-to choice for family transportation. Actually, considering how popular they are, they have clearly moved beyond only family duty. With such popularity, though, comes an awful lot of competitors, and it can be difficult to figure out which one might be the best compact SUV for you. It's important to note that by "compact SUV" we're talking about a specific segment. As we describe in our more comprehensive "Best small SUVs" list, there are also subcompact SUVs that vary widely in size amongst themselves, but are clearly smaller than the SUVs below. Frankly, today's segment of compact SUVs isn't exactly compact — some have more cargo space than vehicles that are considered midsize based on their exterior dimensions. They've all grown considerably over the years. While many lists out there just rattle off every vehicle available in a segment, we thought we'd be a bit more helpful and curate your shopping a bit with the top-recommended choices reviewed by Autoblog. We've included both mainstream and compact luxury SUV choices. Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024 2024 Honda CR-V Why it stands out: Best-in-class space; excellent hybrid powertrain; sharp interior style; Honda dependabilityCould be better: No lower-price base trim levels; no sporty or off-road niche models; no plug-in hybrid Read our full 2024 Honda CR-V Review Consider the CR-V the baseline for any compact SUV search, and look extra closely at the superb CR-V Hybrid option. Objectively speaking, it's tough to beat due to its massive cargo capacity, voluminous back seat, strong-yet-efficient engines, well-balanced driving dynamics, competitive pricing and features, and well-regarded reliability. It's easy to see why it continues to be such a best-seller: for the vast majority of compact SUV buyers, and especially families, it checks every box. That's been the case for many years now, however. The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V changes things up by adding a bit more style and character, particularly in terms of its interior design and how surprisingly enjoyable the Sport and Sport Touring hybrid trim levels are to drive.
2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS proves performance is relative
Thu, Nov 20 2014The Turbo may be the most powerful model in the Cayenne range, but the GTS is arguably the enthusiast's choice. (In so far as a 4,500-pound crossover can be considered an "enthusiast's choice," anyway.) And now, after refreshing the rest of the Cayenne lineup, Porsche has revealed the new Cayenne GTS, alongside its new 911 GTS stablemate, here at the LA Auto Show. Like the new Cayenne S, the new GTS drops the previous version's atmospheric V8 for a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, but ups the output to 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque to propel Zuffenhausen's portliest to 62 in a scant 5.2 seconds. Alongside the power upgrade, the GTS gets a lowered air suspension and sportier exhaust, the beefier brakes from the Cayenne Turbo and an upgraded aero kit to help with the whole barn-door-profile thing. Just don't expect all that extra kit and the prestige of a Porsche badge on your crossover to come cheap, with prices starting at $95,500 (plus $995 destination).
