1961 Porsche 356b 1600 Super Coupe - Matching Numbers on 2040-cars

1961 Porsche 356B 1600 SUPER Coupe - Matching Numbers and Low Reserve Price !!!! I found this car last spring and decided to buy it and freshen it up. It's a matching number's (Chassis # 114666, Engine # 88333) 1961 3561600 Super Coupe that a local Doctor had bought and given to his daughter as a College graduation present in the late 1980's. The car was super straight and had a correct new tub, longitudinals, and battery box. The car had no rust and the gaps were all nice. The paint was blistered from sitting under a cover for years and the carpets and headliner were wrong. What I liked about the car was it ran and operated great, and it had great bones. The hood and deck, doors and glass were all original to the car. The engine bay is original and cleaned up nicely. We stripped the paint to bare metal, (no rust) and loved that there were no signs of rust or accidents, next we painted it, installed new correct carpets, mats, and headliner, and fully serviced it throughout, including the brakes. The car was amazing in bare metal ! Irish Green and Tan, the car is very nice and fresh now and is a joy to drive. It fires up instantly and is sorted and ready to simply enjoy with no headaches! I have records on the car back to the late 80's. It's getting more and more difficult to find solid, matching numbers Porsche 356's with no stories or issues for less than $100K so don't let this one get away. I own 10 other Porsches and this one runs and drives with the best of them. |

VW close to decision on selling Bugatti to Rimac
Sun, Feb 21 2021FRANKFURT — Electric hypercar maker Rimac Automobili and Volkswagen's supercar brand Bugatti are a good technological fit, Porsche's CEO told German weekly Automobilwoche, fueling hopes that a deal between the two could happen soon. British automotive magazine Car last year reported that Volkswagen was on the verge of selling Bugatti to Rimac Automobili, citing sources. In exchange, Porsche, also owned by Volkswagen, would raise the 15.5% stake it owns in Rimac, founded by Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac, Car said. "At the moment there are intense deliberations on how Bugatti can be developed in the best possible way. Rimac could play a role here because the brands are a good technological fit," Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said. "There are various scenarios with different structures. I believe that the issue will be decided by the group in the first half of the year," said Blume, who also sits on the management board of parent Volkswagen. Rimac has developed an electric supercar platform, which he supplies to other carmakers, including Pininfarina. Blume also confirmed higher savings targets for Porsche, saying the carmaker plans to support results by 10 billion euros ($12.1 billion) of cost cuts by 2025, up from 6 billion previously. Porsche 911 RSR stops just long enough to have its photo taken
Tue, 04 Mar 2014When it comes to Porsche and its rapidly escalating endurance racing program, all eyes may be on the new 919 Hybrid - and with good reason: that's the vehicle with which Porsche will be challenging the likes of Audi and Toyota for wins in the top-tier LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans. But it's the 911 RSR that does and will continue to form the backbone of the factory's effort.
The 470-horsepower racing version of the road-going 911 took a one-two finish in its class at Le Mans last year, and also won its class at the Daytona 24 this past January as well. This year Porsche will field two of them in the WEC, another two in the United SportsCar Championship here in the US and will sell countless more to customer racing teams that will undoubtedly continue to rack up trophies in racing series around the world. This, then, might be a unique chance to see one standing still. Check it out in our gallery of live images above from the Geneva Motor Show.
DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper
Tue, 20 Aug 2013Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.
