Offered for sale is my 1961 Porsche 356B T5 Super Coupe, painted in a stunning COA matching Silver, with blue leatherette interior and oatmeal German Square Weave carpeting. Fully sorted, everything works just beautifully on the car-brake lights, turn signals, headlights, all gauges and even the radio as well as a working charging system! Recently painted, the paintwork on this car is absolutely gorgeous! Receipt in hand where the car was taken down to bare metal and then refinished. All gaps are even and doors close well with that nice Porsche "thunk". Hood closes well and evenly all the way around and is not kinked. Hood pull works well every time to open the hood. Rear engine lid opens and closes well and the engine lid pull works well every time. Car was restored for the owner who gave the instruction that he wanted an "excellent driver quality car" that was fully sorted, a car that he could jump in, start, drive for the day and be proud of. This is that car. He searched for a car that was very solid to begin with and then began restoration on that car. We have a full folder of receipts of the restoration of the car which include seats done by Autos International, a new headliner, new side body deco strips, new Koni shocks, new shift linkage bushings, new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, gland nut, flywheel seal, new brake wheel cylinders for all 4 wheels. Original owners manual is with the car along with a reproduction tool kit and an original Bilstein jack. The remainder of the interior, i.e., the door panels and rear seats are original and have not be re-upholstered. Tires are excellent with no cracks or checking, and the chrome wheels and hubcaps make the car visually appealing. The engine in the car is #705849 which is a later model Super engine. As soon as the key is turned to start the car, the engine roars to life with no smoke or strange noises, and after a short warm up is ready to go. Brakes stop the car on a dime evenly and straightly and do not pull to either side as they are being applied. The car "takes the gas" and goes through all gears evenly and smoothly. There are no transmission or engine issues with the car. The reverse gear works well. Here is a short video of the car being driven at highway speeds: http://youtu.be/HtRM9rrH-Vs and another: Here is a link to over 125 photos of the car: Title in hand, we are a licensed and bonded and insured auto dealer in North Carolina. We have an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau. Our dealership is TJ Auto, Inc., 1312 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27603. If you have any questions please contact Tom Nelson at 919-522-4412. Porsche reveals new 911 GT3 R at the Nurburgring
Fri, May 15 2015On any given weekend, you're bound to find gaggles of Porsche 911s zipping around most any race track. Now Porsche has revealed its latest competition model at no less fitting a location than the Nurburgring. The new 911 GT3 R replaces the existing version, slotting in below the 911 RSR. It's based closely on the road-going 911 GT3 RS, and retains the same 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with direct injection and variable valve timing, but tuned to deliver over 500 horsepower, transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential paddle-shift gearbox and mechanical limited slip differential. The wheelbase has been stretched over three inches for better weight balance compared to the outgoing GT3 R, further optimized by more lightweight components and a central radiator to lower the center of gravity. The lightweight bodywork is made of aluminum, steel, and carbon fiber, and for the first time all of the glass (including the windscreen) has been replaced by plexi. Stopping power is provided by six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers gripping 380-millimeter steel discs up front, with four-piston calipers and 372-mm discs at the back. The safety fuel cell can now hold 120 liters of fuel with a cut-off safety valve, the doors and windows can be removed, and the escape hatch is bigger, too. All of this adds up to the promise of a more competitive GT3 R ready to take on the competition, available to privateer racing teams from December for 429,000 euros before tax – working out to about $487k at current exchange rates. World premiere at the Nurburgring Lighter, more economical, faster: the new 911 GT3 R Stuttgart. Based on the 911 GT3 RS production sports car, Porsche has designed a customer sport race car for GT3 series around the world: The 911 GT3 R. In developing the more than 368 kW (500 hp) racing nine-eleven, special attention was paid to lightweight design, better aerodynamic efficiency, reducing consumption, improved handling, further optimised safety as well as lowering service and spare parts costs. Adopted from its production sibling, the 911 GT3 R features the distinctive double-bubble roof, and the wheelbase which had been lengthened by 8.3 centimetres compared to the previous generation. This ensures a more balanced weight distribution and more predictable handling particularly in fast corners corners in comparison to the previous GT3 R.
Evo makes the case for the world's best driving road in Majorca
Tue, 05 Aug 2014What good is a sports car if you haven't got a great place to drive it? It's a common refrain that we've heard time and time again. But few are as familiar with the problem as they are in the UK, where the number of people, cars on the road and traffic cameras keep growing to conspire against the joy of driving. Leave it to Evo, then, to depart in search of the greatest driving road in the world.
It's a pursuit that's taken the British car mag across Europe, most recently to Romania's Carpathian Mountains where it added the Transalpina Pass to its short list. But its latest journey has taken Evo to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Henry Catchpole found not one, but two spectacular driving roads from behind the wheel of the new Porsche Boxster GTS. We could drone on about the smooth, empty ribbons of twisting tarmac with excellent visibility and panoramic vistas... but you really want to see the video for yourself. Don't miss Evo's previous trip to Romania in the Jaguar F-Type, which we've included below, as well.
Techart modified Porsche 911 Turbo S packs 620 hp, 0-62 in 2.8 seconds
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Considering how many absolutely ridiculous tuner cars are featured in Geneva (stay tuned to see plenty, as our coverage continues), it's often refreshing to see some of the more modestly modified cars, like this new Porsche 911 Turbo S from the folks at Techart. Visually, there's a subtle body kit, new wheels, a new spoiler, and some lame decals on the front end, but it basically ends there. That's because Techart's mission is really about higher performance. Increased dynamism, as the Germans say.
An ordinary 911 Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. But the Techart kit adds 60 hp and 96 lb-ft to those already high numbers, for a coupe that dishes out a total of 620 hp and 612 lb-ft. Techart says that, in Sport Plus mode, its modified 911 Turbo S will accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 204 miles per hour. Crazy stuff.
To further drive its performance upgrades home, Techart has fitted this 911 Turbo S with a sport exhaust system with valve control, for a more robust exit interview, at the push of a button. We imagine it sounds awesome. Have a look at the Techart Turbo S in the gallery, above.
