1961 - 356 Porsche Super90 on 2040-cars
Vista, California, United States
Up for auction is a restored, 1961 Super 90, Porsche coupe. I’m the second owner of my Porsche and I’ve had it since 1965. I want to find a good owner who will take good care of the Porsche. I’m not interested in selling this Porsche to any dealer for a resale only to a private party. The Porsche body is completely restored and the body has been painted in its original color of Porsche Silver. The feisty engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt and they have 4,200 easy miles logged on the odometer. The Super 90 cylinders and pistons are 1715 CC. The crankshaft and bearings has standard super 90 specs. The engine has a Super 90 high left, cam. It’s a feisty engine you will enjoy driving. Both, duel shafts Solex, carburetors, have been completely restored. The electrical system has been change to a twelve volt system. Benefits are: brighter lights for road safety and a quicker engine start. New brakes, new slave cylinders, drums restored, new master cylinder. New floor pan. The suspension is firm and solid. Entire under body has been under sealed. All exterior light fixtures have been restored to their original state. All exterior chrome has been triple coated for show. Front fog lights, yellow interior reflectors with white lens. Rubber components on the Porsche have been replaced. The entire car interior has been restored: The front and back seats, side door panels and rear side panels, dash and rear panel are covered with Italian made, camel color leather. Seats have been completely restored. Seat rails have been completely restored. All of the panel instruments have been completely stored to their original state. New head liner and sun visors. Installed in 1967, is a blaupunkt am-fm radio and it plays nicely. The steering wheel is an original Nardi and it came with the car. Front window is new, rear window is not new but very good condition, it has a three short and minor scratches done by my cat but doesn’t distract from its total appearance or safety. All side windows are original; however, the original driver door window have an shallow line, a few inches long. close to its edge. I kept it because it is an original window and the line don’t distract from its safety and appearance. Front compartment under the hood has been completely restored, and the gas tank has been restored. An entire sound proof kit has been installed inside and under the Porsche. All door and hood gaps are evenly and consistently spaced through out. The luggage rack without belts shown will be included with the Porsche. Installed are new tires with chrome wheels and chrome Porsche hub caps.

2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray vs the world: How it compares on paper
Mon, Jul 22 2019The 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray in its base form offers an astonishing amount of performance for the money. In fact, so impressive is the car's spec sheet that the Corvette kind of exists in two different competitive sets: one of cars priced similarly, and another with cars of similar performance and reputation. To get a feel for how it handles each of these segments, we've compiled specifications for those two sets of players. You can find the first set below, which looks at cars of roughly the same price point. Following that is a bit of analysis, and then there's a chart of cars with similar performance and reputation. And that chart will also have some analysis. Though final pricing for the Corvette hasn't been announced yet, we know the Corvette will start at less than $60,000. And as far as pricing goes, its closest competitor is the Porsche 718 Cayman, which also starts at just under $60,000. Both are mid-engined and rear-drive, but the Corvette offers an extra 195 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. The Cayman does boast a curb weight of right around 3,000 pounds, so it weighs a few hundred pounds less than the Corvette, but it's likely not enough to make up for the power deficit. The Corvette's sub-3.0-second 0-60 time bears this out against the Cayman's best 4.5-second run. Impressively, though, the Cayman has more cargo space than the Corvette in a package that's nearly 10 inches shorter. The Cayman also still offers a manual option for those that prefer self-shifting. The 2020 Toyota Supra is on the cheap end of this sports car class, just crossing $50,000. It also boasts more power than the Cayman, though it's still down by 160 ponies and 105 pound-feet of torque to the C8. It's also about as roomy as the Corvette, despite being about the same size as the Cayman. Cargo space is a bit tighter. Its driving characteristics will likely differ, too as the Supra sits on a front-engine platform. It might even feel closer to a C7 Corvette in some ways. The other mid-engine entry in this price range is the 2019 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. Its small 1.7-liter turbo inline-4 only makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but it's also far and away the lightest of this group at 2,487 pounds. That's roughly 1,000 pounds lighter than the Corvette. It isn't as fast as the Corvette in a straight line, but that lightness surely pays dividends in cornering and braking.
World Car of the Year finalists announced
Fri, 07 Mar 2014To say the 2014 Geneva Motor Show was packed full of news is an understatement as big as the show's home at the Palexpo convention center. Despite everything that we were able to cover during this year's show, there's still more coming out of Switzerland, including the announcement of the finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year Awards.
We reported on the original list of finalists over three weeks ago, and now, that initial list has been pared down to three finalists for each of the five awards. The finalists were announced at a press conference by frequent Autoblog contributor and co-chair of the awards, Matt Davis (above).
The finalists for the overall title of 2014 World Car of the Year are the Audi A3, the BMW 4 Series and the Mazda3. The World Luxury Car of the Year will be either the Bentley Flying Spur, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, while the Performance Car of the Year will be awarded to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the Ferrari 458 Speciale or the Porsche 911 GT3 (which, um, yeah...).
Porsche announces four flavors of updated Cayenne [w/video]
Thu, 24 Jul 2014The new Macan may be getting all the attention lately, but Porsche hasn't forgotten about its larger crossover - the one that put it on the map in 2002 and on the road to profitability, with over half a million sold so far. So to keep the Cayenne at the top of its game, Porsche has announced several key upgrades for the 2015 model.
For starters, Porsche has updated the Cayenne's appearance with new front- and rear-end styling. The front bumper, fenders and hood are entirely new, with air fins flanking the nose to direct air into the intercoolers (each model now being artificially aspirated), and new bi-xenon headlamps and daytime running LEDs on every model but the Turbo, which goes all-LED. Around back there's also new taillights, tailgate handle, lower rear fascia and exhaust pipes. Meanwhile the interior has been upgraded with a 918-derived sport steering wheel and reformed rear seats with available ventilation.
The bigger news is under the engine bay, where Porsche is offering four choices. The base model is gone as the range starts with the Cayenne Diesel, followed by the Cayenne S, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo. The Diesel model carries over the same 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 240 horsepower. The Cayenne S however packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that's similar to the one found in the Macan Turbo and packs the same 406 lb-ft of torque but more power at 420 hp, 20 more than either its little brother or the model it replaces to reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.
