For sale is a great driving 1959 Porsche Convertible D Intermeccanica Reproduction - http://www.intermeccanica.us/whya356reproduction.html

I have more than $35,000 in this car easily. The engine is fully built and has around 4,000 miles on it.  The chassis has around 26,000 miles on it. -  All Gene Berg Enterprises 1776cc with dual Kadron 40mm Carbs and Berg Igniter electronic ignition, VW heater boxes flanged to a Berg 1-3/8 merged header, 7:1 compression Ported and Polished Berg 854 semi-hemi cut heads, Berg/Engle 297 cam with 1.1:1 rockers with Berg swivel feet adjusters. Genuine VW/ Berg  8-Doweled 12.5lbs flywheel, 69 mm  Forged Counterweighted Berg Crankshaft, Berg VW connecting rods,  Berg Cima 90.5 Pistons and Cylinders,1-1/2 quart Berg sump and Berg oil pump with Full Flow Berg oil filter conversion.

There is a custom fabricated Fuel Safe fuel cell under the hood with working gauge in the car.

The brakes are four wheel disc Brakes with new master cylinder and rear brake line.  They provide a lot of stopping power, something the drums did not do.

The wheels are genuine Panasport 8 spoke alloys.

VW 4 speed transaxle with 3.88 R/P stock ratios

Adjustable axle beam with front and rear sway bars.

The paint needs work.  The pictures show some of the imperfections, but a new owner might either enjoy the patina or choose to repaint the entire car.  I enjoyed driving it as is.  This is for someone who wants to drive the car. It starts right up and runs like a dream.

Please ask any questions prior to bidding on the vehicle.

The vehicle is being sold AS IS, NO WARRANTY said or implied.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping, but I will help if I can.

Bidders with little or no feedback may have their bid cancelled. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

GOOD LUCK!

Porsche planning Cayman GT4, 700-hp Turbo S e-Hybrids

Fri, May 9 2014

The old wisdom when it came to the Porsche lineup was that the Boxster and Cayman needed to be kept in line so as not to encroach on even the lower end of the 911 range. But with the latest versions of the compact roadster and coupe, that logic has gone out the window. Especially with the introduction of the latest GTS models (pictured above). But that's not the end of the story. According to Motor Trend, Porsche is working on an even more powerful version of the Cayman that could carry the GT4 badge, positioning itself along the same lines as the 911 GT3 and GT2 – only, you know, smaller. Although our sources at Porsche would, predictably, neither confirm nor deny the report, MT has it that power could come from either a turbo-four or a more powerful flat-six, mated to the beefed-up DCT from the latest 911 GT3. A similar version of the Boxster could bring back the RS Spyder designation. That's not all Porsche is said to have in store, though. Based on the engineering that went into the 918 Spyder, Porsche could roll out a new range-topping model for the 911, Panamera and maybe even the Cayenne, packing a version of the 918's PHEV powertrain. Slotting in above the existing Turbo S variants of each model line, the new flagship models could pack 700 horsepower or more and be designated e-Hybrid in similar fashion as the 918.

6 car mashups that God never intended

Sat, May 17 2014

In the 2000s, the musical mashup genre saw a peak of popularity with releases like The Grey Album from Danger Mouse that mixed The Beatles and Jay-Z. UK artist James Pursey from Carwow decided to take the same concept of shoehorning two disparate things together but applied the concept to cars. Your opinion on the results will vary with your sense of humor. These creations are either some funny pieces of abstract art or absolute monstrosities that prove good design should be left alone. Likely the best of the bunch is the Lambotomic (pictured above), which combines a Lamborghini Miura and an Ariel Atom. Granted, the Ariel is little more than a skeleton to begin with, and the outcome looks like a slightly stretched Atom with the new nose and tail from one of the most beautiful vehicles ever. This could actually work. Though, not all of the mashups are quite so pleasant. The Porschiac WW RS (pictured right) is absolutely disgusting. It combines a Pontiac Aztek, which isn't a beauty queen to start with, and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Obviously, the 911 is an iconic shape in autonobolia, but that can't save it from the horror of the Aztek. Pursey fits the its nose, wheel, wing, roll cage and stripes onto the Pontiac. The outcome: A design that will show up in your nightmares. Check out the gallery for the rest of the mashups, including the Humi (a Humvee and a Mini), Aston Smartin (Aston Martin and Smart), Rangerini (Range Rover and Lamborghini Aventador) and the Mazdafenda (Mazda MX-5 Miata and Land Rover Defender). They might not all be beautiful (or even pretty), but it's fun to imagine these oddball creations actually driving down the road. Mark Webber gets early clearance for Porsche departure

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

If there's no rest for the wicked, there's surely even less rest for the wickedly fast. And make no mistake about it, Mark Webber is wickedly fast. He may not have proven able (or given the opportunity, depending on who you ask) to emerge from Sebastian Vettel's shadow after six seasons partnered with the multiple world champion at Red Bull Racing, but he's still won nine Formula One grands prix, to say nothing of the sports car races he won with Mercedes in the late 90s. But now he's leaving F1 to anchor Porsche's new LMP1 program, and according to the latest reports, he's departing Red Bull for Porsche sooner than expected.
Typically an F1 driver is obliged to stay with his team until the end of the calendar year - not just the end of the racing season - helping out with things like promotional events and fine-tuning next year's car. But news.com.au reports that Red Bull has given him early leave, so once the racing action in Brazil is done on Sunday, he's departing straight for Porsche's racing headquarters in Wiessach, Germany.
It won't be Webber's first visit to the facility, having already swung by to have his new seat fitted. But his early arrival will undoubtedly help him and Porsche get up and running ahead of schedule. The move may have been facilitated by a new sponsorship deal that could see Webber carry Red Bull with him to Le Mans, so don't be too surprised to see the energy drink company's logo on the side of the new Porsche once the new racing season gets under way next year, whether in concert with or instead of the anticipated revival of the Martini Racing livery.
