Completed at the Zuffenhausen Porsche factory on the 16th day of December, 1957, this US-model Speedster is finished in a very attractive Irory and fitted with black interior, USA bumpers, and sealed beam headlights. In addition the vehicle includes full and partial tonneau, side curtains, chromed Porsche wheels, tool roll, plus period correct Blaupunkt radio, Bosch fog lamps and a gorgeous Nardi wood steering wheel with aluminum polished spokes. Offered here is a chance to purchase a very good to excellent example of Porsche's Speedster. 84244 is accompanied by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a copy of original Kardex. A wonderful example throughout, this Speedster has only traveled 3,500 miles since it restoration about 12-years ago. It was originally fitted with engine #68626 but is now fitted with a period correct engine #67764. A great car to drive and enjoy, not a trailer queen. Invited to the 2011 Santa Fe Concorso. Top Gear's latest trailer shows off a golden Bugatti Chiron
Thu, Feb 23 2017Top Gear is returning on March 5, and after a lackluster first series with the new hosts, the new group seems determined not to hit a sophomore slump. Chris Evans is gone, and the latest teaser trailer shows the new trio of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid strapped into some pretty fantastic cars, including the Bugatti Chiron and the Ford GT. All of the typical Top Gear segments appear to be present, though the quick cuts don't give us many details. The trailer shows a copious amount of powerslides from an assortment of cars, and even Chris Harris racing around Daytona. Aside from the Bugatti and Ford, cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo are all present. Co-hosts Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz don't appear at all, so it seems their roles may be downplayed to focus on three guys, as was the case pre-reboot. We have some hope for this re-relaunched show and will be keeping an eye out for more details in the lead-up to the series premiere. Meet the main man behind the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3
Fri, 30 Aug 2013We have yet to catch our breath from our first drive of the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, but if you're still not sold on the fact that this track-ready 911 is only offered with a PDK transmission, then you should take it up with Andreas Preuninger. Preuninger is the guy who led the team responsible for the latest GT3. Porsche has released a video giving a little backstory of what went into the development of the car, which had as its goal the creation of a pure, rewarding 911 driving experience.
The video captures the sights and sounds of the GT3 perfectly. Perhaps the best part is listening to Preuninger describe one of the defining moments that resulted in replacing the GT3's manual gearbox with the PDK. Porsche 918 Spyder could lap the 'Ring even quicker [w/video]
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Porsche had a lot to crow about at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Not only did it debut the new 50 Years edition and Turbo versions of the 911 and the new hybrid and diesel versions of the Panamera, but while unveiling the final production version of the new 918 Spyder, it revealed the record lap it set around the Nürburgring.
The 918 Spyder's 6:57 lap time makes it the fastest street-legal production car ever to lap the Nordschleife and the first to break the seven-minute barrier. But the driver who clocked the time thinks it can go even faster.
That driver was Marc Lieb, who has won the Nürburgring 24-hour race four times, making him something of an expert on the subject. In speaking with Australia's Drive TV, Lieb suggested that they could get even more out of the car, as you can hear for yourself in the video below.
