It is hard to put a value on something that is so extraordinary that is truly one of a kind. What price after all could one put on pure bliss? If you are reading this ad, you know probably can imagine the feeling of getting in your dream car and putting some distance between you and your everyday life.
There is no doubt certain cars create an absolute frenzy. They can draw crowds, spark up nostalgia and almost immediately make our lives that much less ordinary. With a turn of their ignition they can forge a grin on the toughest of men and with each passing mile make our dreams come true.
These cars have a blend that is one part beautiful design, one part extreme power to weight and a dash of adrenaline that can only be enhanced by a sound so symphonic it stays in in our minds vault for an eternity.
This ad is to showcase on of these very special cars. Ava is a Porsche 356 Outlaw Replica that can stand proudly amongst some of the world’s most beautiful vehicles. Designed and professionally built to spec for a high performance 911 drivetrain, positively no excuses need be made regarding her heritage.
Ava’s collection of best in show trophies and her online following speak volumes to the fanfare that has resulted since a recent refit and transition into a full on yet fully drivable 356 Outlaw Roadster. The car’s work was performed by some of the best talent in my region and a complete history of the work performed will transition to Ava’s next keeper.
Ultimately my goal with Ava was to create a best of its kind Outlaw and that’s what I believe you see before you today. The car can be driven with tremendous enthusiasm for hundreds of miles on end. The fiberglass 356 body eliminates the concern of rust and expands the car’s usability while the scorching performance delivered by a 200+ Horsepower Porsche Flat Six and highly modified suspension places Ava’s go fast capabilities can humiliate many a late model super car.
Some Details:
Ava is Historic Registered and Titled in NJ as a 1956 356 Porsche. Her power comes from a very warmed up John Donohue built 2.7 Liter motor with Mahle pistons, a set of Webers and a laundry list of other hi-po goodies.
The car was manufactured using a slab side body with very minor rear SC style flares over a modified partial tube frame, Porsche 911 rear suspension, Disk Breaks and a Porsche 5 speed 901 transmission.
As you look through the supporting photos you will start to see the car was not intended to reflect any one particular 356 model year. Nor was it supposed to be an exact clone. While the original cars are great, Ava was never intended to be passed off this of as part of their tribe.
Some of trim pieces that make this 356 replica so special include: Dash Mounted Heuer Stopwatches, Custom Fitted 356 Carrera Rear Valance, Adjustable SuperTrap Trumpets, Route 30 Classics-Speedster Headrest Cowl, Fibersteel Porsche 550 Spyder Mirrors and Leather Bonnet Straps, Nardi Wheel with Porsche Crest, Original Early Series Porsche Fuchs, Lemans Style Auxiliary Lamps, an Original 356: rear Deck Lid, Door Strikes, Hinges, Gas Tank, Glass, Convertible D Top Frame and German Cloth Top and soft cover as well as a fair amount of other original 356 trim bits throughout.
Starting out, the objective was to have a very unique car that would sound epic, look ravishing, and drive like a street legal racer. The great conversations and new friendships, trophies and other attention well…they became pleasant but unexpected outcomes of life with Ava.

NHTSA closes probe into 2011 Porsche 911 coolant leaks
Thu, 13 Mar 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that it will end its investigation into rapid coolant loss in 24,635 Porsche 911s built between 2001 and 2011. The models affected included the standard 911, GT2, GT3 and Turbo, as well as their variants (GT2 RS, GT3 RS and Turbo S).
NHTSA was investigating for "rapid coolant loss caused by coolant pipe-fitting failure, allegedly resulting in vehicle disablement and/or loss of vehicle control due to reduced traction for the affected vehicle or following traffic," according to the regulators website. "Most of the leak complaints did not appear to involve complete separation of the fittings and many were detected when the vehicle was parked," said NHTSA's statement.
There were 63 complaints and 336 warranty claims, although the investigation was initiated after ten complaints from customers. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries attributed to rapid coolant loss.
Porsche rolls out new 919 Hybrid at racing gala
Mon, 16 Dec 2013That Porsche is returning to Le Mans next year with a top-tier LMP1 entry is no news - we've known that for some time. We've even seen pictures of the car in question undergoing testing at various racetracks across Europe, been told who'll be driving it and given some basic parameters of what will make it go. We just haven't known what to call it, but now we do.
In detailing its full endurance racing program for next year at its Night of Champions in Weissach, Porsche has revealed that its new LMP1 racecar will be called the 919 Hybrid. So, something like the 918 Spyder, only one faster. With a four-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors, the 919 Hybrid will be taking on the top class at Le Mans next year, with a compelling roster of drivers on the docket: along with Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani, Porsche has assigned its works driver Marc Lieb and F1 test driver Brendon Hartley to the effort. But that's not all Porsche has in store.
The factory is also supporting teams that will campaign the 911 RSR in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the United SportsCar Championship here in the US, taking Porsche off the pit wall and right in the race seat for next year as part of a comprehensive new racing program, details of which you can read in the press release below.
Next-generation Panamera will spawn variants, Sport Turismo in the running
Mon, Dec 1 2014A few years ago it took actual willpower not to consider what kinds of cool derivatives Porsche could make with the Panamera. Our fancies were helped by patent drawings of a Panamera convertible, rumors of a two-door 928 GT and internal Porsche sketches of such a car, and report after report after report that the current, second-generation Panamera would begin to expand the family. That hasn't happened, but according to a new report in Auto Express, the next Panamera will be the one to begin the bifurcation. Wolfgang Hatz, the brand's head of research and development, told the mag that, "We have prepared it for a lot of derivatives, personally I like very much the Sport Turismo." The Panamera Sport Turismo, remember, was the hybrid, concept wagon that rolled into the 2012 Paris Motor Show and made everyone ask, "Why didn't you build this design from the beginning?" It could have been Hatz's English, but after professing his ardor for the Sport Turismo, the executive said, "But there is a good chance for more derivatives." We're not sure if that means the Sport Turismo is all but approved, or if he was speaking of the third generation Panamera's new MSB platform in general. Even though Hatz mentioned a coupe and convertible, it sounds like that latter variant won't be happening, Hatz saying that the brand already has the Boxster and 911 Cabriolet. We're willing to forgive that omission – who's really looking for a four-door convertible, anyway? – and welcome the Sport Turismo first if Hatz will please please please get us a new 928.
