1967 Pontiac Tempest Coupe Gto Clone on 2040-cars
Concordia, Kansas, United States
Up for sale is a very nice solid1967 Pontiac Tempest Coupe. This Pontiac could be left A Tempest or turn into a GTO Clone. The odometer reads 16,234, but I am sure it has rolled over at least once. This car is a 2 door post with a rebuilt SBC 350 backed by a TH 350 Automatic. This Pontiac has had a lot of work done to it, and is just about ready for paint and finishing touches or could be daily drive with minimal work. All body work was done professionally at a body shop. The car is currently painted with black primer. The rear quarters have been replaced; all other body panels are original to this car except for the hood which is an original GTO hood. All panels fit and line up good, but could use minor adjustments here and there to fit great. The floor pan and trunk pan have also been replaced. The front and rear window channels look pretty good, little or no pitting on front, and the rear has some pitting but could not find any holes. All of the glass is in good shape and the windshield is brand new. The bumpers are in decent shape but could use re-chromed to be really nice. The interior is in decent shape. The seats are pretty good shape, the fronts are original 67 metal back buckets, and the rear is original and was recovered at some point. The door panels could use to be replaced, the headliner does sag some in the rear. The car runs and drives great. The engine runs good and does not smoke. The transmission shifts fine, but could use a shift kit in my opinion. It has disc brakes in the front, drum in the rear, and they work just fine. The wheels are 16x8 American Racing Torq Thrust II. The tires have some weather checking and could use to be replaced in the near future to be a driver. All of the suspension is in good shape, new coil springs, new shocks, steering and ball joints are good. This car does not have power steering or power brakes, parts to convert these are included in the sale, along with some other good parts such as instrument cluster bezel, set of grilles, factory radio, factory center console, and the original jack. This Pontiac will make a great driver with little work or would make a very nice car when finished. Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have.
This car has a clean and clear Wisconsin title. I have tried to get the best pictures and describe this car accurately the best I can. If you would like to come see this car in person just let me know and we can make arrangements to do so. Payment will be cash in person unless other arrangements are made prior to sale. If you have any questions about the car feel free to ask. You as the buyer are responsible for picking this car up. This car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end listing at any time. This car is being sold as-is, no warranty. Thanks for looking. |

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek
Tue, Jul 11 2017Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone. What's driving the spike in air-cooled Porsche 911 prices
Thu, Mar 26 2015Classic car prices have been racing skyward in general, but prices for air-cooled (pre-1999) Porsche 911s are ascending like they're strapped to rocket boosters. It's been going on for years, and every year people are surprised by how outrageous it's getting: Classic Driver covered it this month, as did The Truth About Cars who included this example of a "scruffy" 1993 RS America with 215,000 miles asking $80K; Mike Spinelli at Drive riffed on it at length last year along with a host of classic-car-market observers; Porsche forums were at it two years ago; and let's not even get into the 993 Turbo, going for prices so high you have to lie down to look at them. Speed Academy has run a piece looking at why it's happening, one theory being that regular-guy owners are hopping on the runaway-price wagon without any good reason. As in the example of that high-mileage, scruffy 911 RS America at Bring a Trailer, the owner sees pristine examples valued by Hagerty at $170,000, and even though the average value is $93,238 he thinks something like, "Mine's got to be worth half of top dollar ..." The tide - even one rising on air - makes it hard to find decent prices. Then there is the flood of money into the market. In spite of articles that try to temper investors' outlooks on collectible cars, other articles in places like the Financial Times and the Guardian promote vintage metal as a safe place to put money and reap astonishing returns. Speed Academy thinks one side effect of high 911 prices is that responsible enthusiasts are turning their attention to cars like the BMW 2002, E30 M3, and E9 3.0CS, saying their prices are "sharply on the rise." The entire article is worth a read since it goes into markets far afield from pricey German steel, but incredibly, the entire piece was actually inspired by a 1997 Acura Integra R that sold for $43,000 on eBay. So while this could be the best time to get into the classic car market if you know what you're doing, it is certainly the best time to do your homework. Related Video:
Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
