The car runs solid with no issues. The car has never been to a race track or drag raced or anything like that just normal spirited driving. When I purchased the car about 3 years ago it was a certified pre-owned car and had a warranty which has since expired but this means the car was gone through with a fine tooth comb by a GM dealer just 14,000 miles ago!

Specs on the car (includes every single option available on a 2008)
2008 GXP 2.0l turbo engine
5 speed manual transmission
Limited slip differential
Black exterior & black top with Premium Acoustic Headliner
Black leather interior (seats, shift knob, steering wheel) with power height adjust on driver seat
TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system – shows actual psi of each tire on the dash display)
Black rear OEM spoiler
Monsoon 7 speaker stereo (upgraded speakers with amp and sub)
6 disk in dash AM/FM cd changer with mp3 playback
XM sat radio
Onstar
A/C – nice and cool!
Antilock brakes
Power door locks
Power windows
Cruise control
Sport metallic pedals
Carpeted floor mats
Two keys and remotes for keyless entry
Oil has always been changed on schedule or better with mobil1 synthetic
I have the manuals and all service records for the car, it needs nothing right now

Mods on the car (Everything below was done within the last 5,000-10,000 miles except the tune)
GMPP stage 2 tune 290 hp 340 ft lb tq (20-22 lbs boost) (done at about 35,000 miles by GM dealer)
Replaced stock silver headlights with the all black Street Edition Headlights from 2009 (brand new not used parts)
Silverstar headlight bulbs (for a more white color headlight)
Added the Bluetooth On-star module from a 2009 (still have stock one if you wanted to revert and remove Bluetooth)
Optima dry redtop battery (last longer, better voltage, will never leak, can handle vibration unlike standard battery)
DDM Backbone mid brace (the middle thickness of the 3 they make, still have stock thin one if you want to revert)
DDM Probeam rear brace (makes a huge difference in handling)
DDM Venom front brace (made a considerable difference in handling)
BC adjustable coilovers (can adjust ride height as well as the firmness of ride easily, still have stock shocks if you want to revert and sell coilovers)

Hankook EVO v12 275/40 rear & Hankook EVO v12 245/45 front (still have 80-90% of tire tread and grip way better than the stock tires did)
Debadged back of car (removed “solstice”, “GXP” and Pontiac arrow, chrome pieces on back)
tinted front blinkers and rear tail lights (looks so nice on black car black car & light still gets through just fine)
blacked out the A-pillar around the front window as well as the 3 Pontiac arrows with plastidip (easily removed if you want to go back to silver)
Shorty antenna (still have the stock one if you want it)
Modified stock Airbox w/K&N washable filter (removed front noise baffling for better air intake and more turbo noise)
One step colder NGK iridium sparkplugs
20 gorilla lock nuts (to protect the OZ wheels from thieves)
T-bolt clamp upgrade (all clamps replaced with stronger t-bolt clamps so no boost pressure leaks out)
Car cover (the car is black, you need it!)

This junkyard '91 Grand Am is as hooptie as it gets

Wed, Jun 29 2016

I spend a lot of time in junkyards. A lot of time. With all this experience, I have learned to recognize a perfect hooptie when I see one, a car whose final owner got every last bit of use out of it when its value was hovering right about at scrap value. This 1991 Pontiac Grand Am that I spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard a few days ago, from the final model year for the third-generation Grand Am, checks all the hooptie boxes just right. First of all, it's a low-option coupe with the wretched and unloved GM Iron Duke engine, a rattly, gnashy, thrashy 2.5-liter four-cylinder kludged together using off-the-shelf parts from the Pontiac 301-cubic-inch V8 during the darkest years of the Malaise Era and used in cars whose buyers just didn't care. Most of the paint has been burned off by 25 years of harsh California sun, but the car spent sufficient time in a damp, shady spot for lichens to build up here and there. There are skeletons-with-sombreros stencils sprayed here and there, plus a big moonshine-guzzling skeleton mural painted on the hood. Goodbye, property values! Still, someone felt some affection for this car, giving it the name "Good Ol' Snakey" and painting that name on the decklid. We can assume that the Iron Duke was a bit loose by this time, probably leaving a serpentine trail of blue smoke behind the car at all times. So, the combination of cheapness, ugliness, menace, and who-gives-a-damn functionality make this Grand Am an excellent example of a pure hooptie. Within a couple of months, it will be crushed, shredded, shipped out of the Port of Oakland, and reborn in China as refrigerators and Geely Emgrands. Somewhere in Northern California, though, a few of Ol' Smokey's friends will remember this car fondly.

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem

Thu, Feb 13 2014

General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed. GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk

Tue, Oct 27 2015

General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 1,283,340 older sedans and coupes in the U.S. from the 1997 to 2004 model years because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.
