1977 Pontiac Can Am on 2040-cars

Year:1977 Mileage:36000
Location:

North Olmsted, Ohio, United States

North Olmsted, Ohio, United States

For the rest of the story, the car is all there the only thing not there is the rear bumper reinforcement and the red lights in it. Everything on this car works the horn, turn signals 4 ways head lights interior lights door jamb switches dash lights oil pressure gauge temp and gas gauge volt meter it charges with the original alternator. I believe it to be the original 36,000 miles just from the originality of the car and all the parts on it . Had the original plugs in it I kept them the original wires are still on it and the car is pretty clean for the year the steel brake and gas lines are original and look like the day it was new, all the rubber lines are good no dry rot the trunk seal is still soft hence the clean trunk, and all the wiring  is as flexable as the day it was new and un cut. the seats are soft as new a little discoloring is all the dash is perfect no cracks and soft, the headliner is good also it so amazing the stuff on this car it just amazes me. the carpet is dry rotted the shifter cable was broke I found a new  one in the car old but still in the original GM bag, at some point someone put a 8 track in it, the dash is not cut up I have the original radio. The trim rings on the wheels are perfect I dropped the gas tank it had the original rubber lines from the tank tothe steel lines  I replaced them, and another surprise I found the build sheet. I drained the tank and from the pictures you can see it was clean as a pin inside I took a pic of the trunk floor above the tank look how clean that is, the exhaust is even good might want to change the mufflers though it has the 80s cherry bomb glass packs on it witch are still redish  looking. I had the car P.H.S documented I have that. The car was sold here in Mayfield Hts. Ohio on the east side that is where I bought it from was the east side not far from where it was sold new the front floor pans look perfect also. The window trim is all there and very nice as the original wheel well openings and they fit the body perfect the fisher door sill plates are there also very nice, the quarters are solid the right one in front of the tire has a little rust the fenders are clean as is the trunk lid and the trunk is mint the doors look solid also the inside lip is as clean as new. I HAVE A TON MORE PICS I CAN SEND ON REQUEST  i could only get 24 on here they are not enough to see the car good . THE REAR SPOILER IS NOT CRACKED LIKE MOST OF THEM EITHER.

That was the good now for the bad the car had not been titled in over 25 years so there is no title or record on file with the state I have a bill of sale from a licensed dealer for it so getting  a title should not be hard. the guy I got it from pulled the rear quarter windows and let it sit with them out I have the windows  so the rear floor pans are rusted but the rest of the floor is nice I found rear pans at Goodmark. The guy started grinding on the car and sprayed whit paint on it to stop rust I quess who  knows not head. the right rear quarter had been damaged by the tail light at some point and fixed but the damage doesn't look that bad just wasn't fixed right the lacquer paint is cracked and peeling, windsheild is cracked all the other glass is good.

The car is very solid and all original nice car to restore like I said all the date codes on the  block  distributor, carb , intake water pump all are correct it says 400 on the left side of the block but I cannot find the engine numbers the transmission tag is correct dated also.

I know I am leaving a lot out about this amazing survivor . there is a reserve and I will not take less for it . Thanks any questions call Tony 440-503-0929

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi

Sat, Jun 19 2021

The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone. 2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Firebird

Mon, Dec 18 2023

Last spring, this series featured a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro RS in a Northern California junkyard, an example of the final model year for the highly successful third-generation GM F-Body. On a later visit to that yard, I spotted the Pontiac sibling to that car, a Firebird that was born the same year at the same Southern California factory. When the Chevrolet Division introduced the first Camaro as a 1967 model, the Pontiac Division got its own version of the F-Body called the Firebird. While the two cars were built on the same chassis and looked very similar, the first-generation Camaros got Chevrolet engines while their Firebird colleagues got Pontiac engines (including the innovative SOHC straight-six). The 1970-1981 second-generation Firebirds still had some Pontiac-only engines, but Chevrolet and Oldsmobile power crept under some hoods during that period. The third-generation Firebirds first appeared as 1982 models, and they drew from near-identical stockpiles of GM running gear (including the distinctly agricultural Iron Duke four-banger, which could be considered a Pontiac-derived engine). When the Camaro got the axe after 2002, the Firebird's neck was put on the same chopping block. When the Camaro returned for 2010, the Pontiac brand was sputtering to an agonized halt during its final year and there was no chance of the Firebird's return. This car is a fairly ordinary coupe, though it does have the mid-grade 205-horsepower 5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block V8 instead of the base 140-horse 3.1-liter V6. A 5.7-liter small-block was available as well. A five-speed manual transmission was base equipment, but few Americans wanted a three-pedal setup by the early 1990s. This car has the optional four-speed automatic. The MSRP with 5.0 engine, automatic transmission and air conditioning (which this car has) started at $14,304. That's about $31,868 in 2023 dollars. It was built at Van Nuys Assembly in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County. By the dawn of the 1990s, the Camaros and Firebirds made at Van Nuys Assembly had become known as the worst-built GM cars made in North America, and the plant was shut down forever soon after this car was built. Today, a shopping mall lives where the factory once stood. This car managed to drive more than 150,000 miles during its life, so it beat the odds. The thrid-gen F-Body was pretty antiquated by the early 1990s, but the fourth-gen cars handled better and looked up-to-date for the era.
