1972 Pontiac Lemans Luxury 6.6l on 2040-cars
Santa Clarita, California, United States
You are bidding on a 1972 Pontiac Lemans Convertible! The vehicle has been in a cosmetic restoration process for about 2 years on and off. It is about 80%-85%. Over 100 hours have been put into the current restoration of this vehicle. The body is clean and in pretty good shape, as you can see from the photos, and must be seen to appreciate. The motor is a 1970 Pontiac 400 GTO Motor. I had it completely re-machined by JGM Motors in Valencia. Bored .030 Over, Ground Crank, New Pistons, Rings, Lifters, Rods, and Cam, etc... EVERYTHING! I have only put about 20 miles on the motor. still breaking it in and seating the rings, I have been keeping the RPM's low during break in and would continue this for the first 500+ miles. But it will get up and go! The original motor was rated at 375 Hp. There are too many things to list that have been done, but I will list the major items below. The only thing left to do is paint it the color you want, and possibly replace the top at some point.
New Front End Suspension-Complete, Including New Hotchkis Sway Bar and Springs. New Rear Shocks New Front Disc Brake Conversion New Convertible Top Cylinders New Kenwood Stereo, 12" JL Audio Bass & 250 Watt Amp, Infinity Rear Speakers Rebuilt Original Clock New 2 1/2" Custom Exhaust System Original Bumper Jack & Matching Spare Original Seat Belts 1970 Pontiac 400 GTO Motor, Remachined, Rebuilt, Installed. There are many other things that have been replaced, repaired, rebuilt, detailed, etc... and there is certainly things left to do depending on what you want to do with the car, i.e. Drive or Show. I have over $18K invested in this car, but I have another project car that I also want to start on, and my wife says I can only have one!! (Can you believe that!, plus my garage only holds one!) The car is priced to sell, my loss is you gain. If you would like any other photos or would like to come and see the car in person, (I would recommend personally inspecting car to appreciate!) please email me. I can show the car after 6pm during the week or on the weekend. |

Best and Worst GM Cars
Thu, Apr 7 2022Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded. While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.
Florida man runs down bikers in traffic
Tue, May 31 2016A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery. 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
