Washington, Pennsylvania, United States
THIS IS A 72 PONTIAC LUXURY LEMANS I BOUGHT FOR PARTS FOR MY 71 LEMANS. AFTER BRINGING IT HOME I FOUND ITS A RARE BUILD WITH THE FACTORY 4SP., BENCH SEAT, 140MPH SPEEDO, GUAGES & TACH. IT APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL, EXCEPT LF FENDER WAS REPLACED AT SOME TIME & DUAL EXHAUST WAS INSTALLED. ALSO I FIND IT RARE THE CAR WAS BUILT WITH NO LUXURY OPTIONS, MANUAL TRANS., STEERING, BRAKES, WINDOWS, LOCKS & NO A/C I HAVE HAD MY 71 FOR 25YRS. & LOVE THESE CARS. SO I WOULD RATHER LET IT GO ALL ORIGINAL & BE RESTORED THAN RAPE IT.( I WILL FIND A NOT SO RARE CAR FOR PARTS). HAS CHEVY RALLEY RIMS ON IT, TIRES ARE NO GOOD. I DO HAVE THE FENDER SKIRTS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE ENGINE IS THE ORIGINAL 350 IT IS NOT LOCKED UP, I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 3MOS. & HAVE DONE NOTHING WITH IT DUE TO WINTER & NO EXTRA TIME. THE ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO GET THE PARTS I NEED & PART THE REST OUT. THE 4SP. TRANS. GOES INTO ALL THE GEARS, OF COARSE I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ANY OF THE ENG., TRANS., OR REAR END INTERNALS. LIKE I SAID ITS ALL THERE & APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS & I WILL ANSWER A.S.A.P. Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson
Tue, Sep 25 2018Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am sells for $450k
Mon, Dec 15 2014Apparently, there's still a lot of love out there for by Burt Reynolds and his famous role in Smokey and the Bandit – or at least for his car. As you might remember, Autoblog reported on the auction of the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am a few week ago. At the time, the movie star's car was already well past its $80,000 top estimate, and bidding only shot up from there for a final price of $450,000. That seems like a lot of money for a Trans Am that never actually appears in Smokey and the Bandit. According to the listing, the car was used to promote the film and was given to Reynolds afterward with his name on the title as proof of ownership. The Trans Am looks practically identical to the one in the movie with black paint, the gold firebird on the hood and Bandit name on the driver's door. This one packs a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor under the hood, an automatic transmission and a plaque inside the door that proclaims "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds." The wedding stagecoach based on an International Harvester Scout we mentioned in the earlier story also beat its top estimate of $20,000. It went for $34,375, according to the auction house's website, and in total the sale raised about $2.5 million. Scroll down to read the full announcement from Julien's Auctions.
