Ladies and Gentlemen—Pontiac Lovers—First Time Offered on Ebay!

What an Opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind Pontiac at a great price!!

Rarely do you find a low production Pontiac T-37 with a slim chance of finding another one like it.  Up for auction is a stunning 1971 Pontiac LeMans T-37 that has undergone a complete frame-up restoration.  The car is owned by a friend of mine who spared no expen$e in its restoration. The car was born in California and spent most of its life on the west coast, always garaged and never any rust.  It has all of its original GM sheet metal (panels etc.).  The car was stripped to the bare metal and painted in a base/coat clear coat, Adriatic Blue (paint code 24, its original color). It has the dependable 350 cu. inch engine, automatic trans., power steering, disc brakes and cold A/C.  The following is a partial list of what’s been done to this magnificent machine:

  • Original engine was rebuilt to factory specs.

  • Rebuilt turbo 350 trans. with new modulator.

  • Rear axle was inspected and serviced.

  • New aluminum radiator.

  • New motor mounts and trans. mount.

  • New belts.

  • Rebuilt carburetor.

  • New A/C compressor, condenser, evaporator, thermal expansion valve, drier.

  • New Delco ignition cable set.

  • New heater hoses.

  • New windshield washer pump.

  • New fuel and water pump.

  • New power steering box and pressure hoses.

  • New battery.

  • New interior including new dash pad.

  • New complete ‘Infinity’ car stereo system with speakers.

  • New upper/lower ball joints.

  • New control arm bushings.

  • New front sway bar link kit.

  • New sway bar frame bushings.

  • All new springs and shocks.

  • Front end alignment.

  • Balanced drive shaft with new U joints.

  • New Flowmaster exhaust system.

  • New Delco fuel level sender.

  • All New Weatherstriping.

  • New Pontiac Rallye II chrome wheels and new Coker red line radial tires.

  • Has a Great Stereo

The car runs and drives beautifully.  Photos cannot capture the true beauty of this classic Pontiac.  The floor pans, frame rails, and trunk are in excellent condition. All of the pot metal, bumpers, moldings etc. are also in excellent condition.  In my opinion, this is an unbelievable find.  I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.  It has a clear title and plenty of documentation including:

  • Build sheet.

  • Owners manual.

  • PHS documents, including window sticker.

  • Service and restoration receipts.

  • 1971 Pontiac New Vehicle Warranty Brochure.

  • 1971 New Vehicle Inspection Procedure Report (dated 9-20-71, Calif.).

Please come see and drive it for yourself. Drive it home!

Autoblog Classifieds finds: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT

Tue, May 15 2018

Autoblog's free Readers' Used Car Classifieds section is a great place to list your car for sale, and because these are readers, they often list really interesting cars. Occasionally we find interesting listings, and tell you what's special about them. This 1987 Pontiac Fiero was listed for sale at the time of this writing, but if the listing expires by the time you read this, feel free to browse for other great finds. Thirty years after General Motors stopped building it, the Pontiac Fiero might have finally emerged from the darkness. First, it was a humble commuter car that just happened to be a mid-engined coupe, then it was a re-skinnable basis for Fierorraris or other slightly strange kit cars, and then it made some Worst Cars of All Time lists due to its econobox ingredients, including its Chevy Citation suspension parts. But after a few decades, even the most mediocre car will become interesting as most of the examples built have been run into the ground; why not then the Fiero? The story of the Fiero is paralleled by a number of GM products, as it improved constantly the longer it was built, and by the time of the last model years it was quite decent indeed. And then the plug was pulled. The Fiero might not be a Toyota MR2 or even a Fiat X1/9, but it was made in two body styles, the notchback and the fastback, the latter of which looks especially good now. The Fiero also remains quite affordable, and the plastic body panels do not rust, unlike with the two aforementioned cars. This 1987 car advertised for sale at Autoblog Classifieds does not yet benefit from the 1988 cars' improved suspension, but thanks to its low, low 47,000-mile odometer reading, it looks to be in tip-top shape. The automatic transmission is just the three-speed affair, though, rendering the V6 car here more of a cruiser than a fiery hot canyon carver. Perhaps that has contributed to its good condition, along with the lack of possibly leaky T-tops. Could the Fiero have aged better than your Hall & Oates tapes? Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek

Tue, Jul 11 2017

Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone. Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Tue, Jun 19 2018

For General Motors, the W platform just kept giving and giving and giving for decade after decade, serving as the basis of Buick Regals, Oldsmobile Intrigues, Chevrolet Monte Carlos, and many, many more models. The final and most powerful Pontiac W-Body, the sixth-generation Grand Prix GTP, rolled off assembly lines for the 1997 through 2003 model years. Here's one in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. GM bolted the supercharged 3800 V6 into vast numbers of cars during this era, providing a deep reservoir of cheap blowers for unwise high-boost projects. 240 front-tire-charring horses, complete with a Roots-type blower scream from the Eaton supercharger under the hood. I see plenty of blown 3800s during my junkyard travels, from the Bonneville SSEi to the Oldsmobile LSS. Depressingly, GM stopped putting manual transmissions in the Grand Prix during the 1993 model year, so '01 GTP owners had to take the four-speed slushbox. This one came close to the magic 200,000-mile mark, but fell 25,000 short. The interior took a beating during its life, ending its time on the road with shredded upholstery and dirty panels. Seven-band graphic equalizers were all the rage during the 1980s, but GM kept the tradition alive into our current century. This content is hosted by a third party.
