Less than 2000 miles on rebuilt motor and overdrive transmission.  ---- strong and reliable. Daily driven.

This is my a 1969 convertible Pontiac Lemans. It has a GTO  Endura front bumper and tail lights installed. I was in the middle of fixing her up when I was laid off. So I can’t finish it. But what has been done is the following.

The motor has been rebuilt with a performance cam...Crane cam 454 lift and a 270 duration, so its not bad on gas but you can burn rubber.

It has a performance overdrive transmission with shift kit and best parts installed ( good up to 450 hp) ....200R4 with a B&M shifter. At 80 miles an hour the engine is only turning 2400 RPM’s Great for Gas mileage,

Custom hood air intakes.

New 4-row all aluminum radiator...with fan control.

Bushings replaced and the rest of the suspension is nice and tight.

Disc brakes up front installed, slotted and drilled. Break lines redone.

Rear brakes rebuilt with less than 2000 miles on them.

New fuel lines, pump and Gas tank plumbed for EFI if desired in the future.

New AUTOGAGE instruments, all work.

Tires up front are brand new. Rears have less than 2000 miles on them.
The car has just been aligned.

Brand new shocks.

Lowering springs installed

Hooker thick wall headers with 2.5 dual exhaust just installed.

All glass is good/ Windows roll up and down.

The car is mechanically a great car and I was then going to concentrate on the interior but then I got laid off.

I wanted the car to be a great reliable driver first and that is what it is now. Drives and handles great. No rumbles, squeaks or rattles. Sounds great too.

So I could not get to the other non mechanical stuff. But...(not in pictures) I did buy and will include a all red Chevelle(A body) seat upholstery kit front and rear and front and rear red door panels, with side arm rest, conv. well covers and side panels...and a red carpet to match.

Here’s what I would have done and or needs doing:

The convertible top canvas needs replacing( I have a replacement header bow that comes with the car). Also the top was working fine up until a week ago. Probably a fuse. I have not replaced it. So I just manually do it.

The interior upholstery is dirty and has nicks and a tear on one of the seats. Carpet has been cut to install the shifter. I would replace it.

Dash cracked from sun. No radio.

Car has a few little little rust spots  but not real noticeable. Some rust was in the wheel well arches but only around the inner lips and would be covered if you put the chrome molding back on. I liked the non chromed look so I took them off.

In the trunk lower side panel on the left side has rust but not noticeable from outside vehicle ( panel can be replaced if you cared to)

Drivers door lock sometimes doesn’t work. May need lubricating?  I was inspecting  it and that is why the door panel inside is missing.  I didn’t put it back on cause I always intended to replace the interior. I through it out.

Heater works but controls could be replaced as sliders need lubing.

Turn signal cam unit in steering column needs replacing BUT I have a brand new unit to go in that comes with car. Easy install.

The Endura bumper could be fitter better...the body to bumper gaps are a little wider than I would like, but it looks good overall.

ALL THE HARD WORK IS DONE
...you pick your interior for your own taste or drive as is. I tried to describe the car as best I can and with what I know. But I encourage buyers to ask as many questions as you have. Non Refundable Deposit of 500.00 due with in 24 hours paid via Paypal.

I’m not a dealer so car is sold AS IS, no warranty implied or stated. Prefer you pick it up but I will ship it at owners expense. I know some shippers and the cost varies such as 600 dollars to 1500.00, maybe more depending on location.   My zip code is 93001, Ventura, California.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe

Thu, Feb 21 2019

In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003. It even came with a remote, so bad Midwestern farmgirls could make quick getaways when caught in the act by enraged broom-wielding mothers. Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
