1969 Gto, Tempest/lemans, Restomod, Muscle, Hotrod. on 2040-cars
Bakersfield, California, United States
Low Reserve.....! Hello, up for sale is my Absolutely beautiful 1969 Tempest/Lemans "GTO" Tribute Car. Hopefully the pictures I've taken of the car illustrate just how nice the car is. This is an original California Car, built in Fremont Ca. And sold to its first owner in Hawthorne Ca. I bought the car from the 3rd owner here in Central California. Note, all previous owners took outstanding care of this car and I have the original Protect-O-Plate, maintenance receipts, original Manuals and Pontiac Warranty Card which help demonstrate. After reviewing all the information (Maintenance Receipts), that came with the car I believe it to be an original 85,000 mile car. This is truly a one of a kind Resto'mod, this is a 69' Tempest/Lemans that has several of the GTO features added to it, such as the GTO Hood, 455 Pontiac Motor, Muncie 4-speed Transmission. "This is a complete ground up restoration", the entire suspension has been upgraded, new spring, shocks, bushing, control arms, front and rear sway bars and front disc brake conversion. The engine is a 4-bolt main 455, block number "9799140" that's been rebuilt and rated at approximately 370 horsepower. The 4-speed Muncie Transmission is new, to include new clutch and Hurst Shifter. Under the hood you'll find brushed aluminum pulleys, hood hinges, brake master cylinder, M/T valve covers, alternator, and power steering pump. You'll also find a MSD ignition, 4-core aluminum radiator, and double electric fans. 4-barrel carburetor, and Hooker Headers. All the work done on this car was done professionally, with every aspect thought out and planned carefully. The interior of the Car has been completely redone, new after market gauges. It has black carpeting, dash, door panels, and headliner. The seats are done in vinyl, charcoal grey with medium grey ported inserts. The exterior paint color, Med. Grey Metallic coordinates very well with the interior and gets constant complements wherever I go. The exhaust is new and sounds great. It has chrome exhaust tips added. The Stainless Steel gas tank is new also. All the interior gauges work, as do all lights and wipers. It has the factory radio in place, however it doesn't have speakers installed. The car has no leaks. I'm sure I've failed to mention some other characteristics of the car but hopefully you get the general idea of this car's overall great condition. This car more than just competes with true GTO's of the same era, in my opinion it blows away many of them. This is an opportunity to own a 455, 4-speed GTO tribute car for a fraction of the cost of a true GTO. There's no way for me to recoup all the time and money that's gone into this car but I'm ready to sale. I'm motivated to sell so I'll consider all reasonable offers. The car is being sold as is with no warranty given or implied, I have the car listed locally and reserve the right to end the listing early if a qualified offer is received. You can call me for more questions, or offers thanks, Billy 661-340-3497. |

Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter
Tue, Nov 25 2014A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.
Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
Sat, Mar 4 2023A couple of years before John DeLorean and his team at the Pontiac Division created the GTO by pasting a big engine and some gingerbread on the LeMans, they created a rakish, powerful coupe based on the staid full-size Catalina. This was the 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix, which sold like crazy and escalated the personal luxury coupe war already brewing in Detroit. Starting with the 1969 model year, the Grand Prix switched to a smaller chassis (shared the following year with the new Chevrolet Monte Carlo), and all subsequent rear-wheel-drive Grand Prix (that is, through 1987) remained siblings of the Monte. Today's Junkyard Gem is a rare 1980 Grand Prix LJ, found in a self-service yard near Reno, Nevada. Sure, a fresh round of Middle East conflict had put a kink in America's fuel hose in 1979, leading to gas lines and a general sense of malaise, but at least the new Grand Prix looked extra sharp for 1980. The LJ package came with all sorts of appearance and comfort goodies, including these "luxury seats with loose-pillow design in New Florentine Cloth." A Pontiac Phoenix LJ was available as well. These seats must have been very comfortable when new. Who needed a Cadillac when Pontiac would sell you this car at a base MSRP of just $7,000 (about $26,704 in 2023 dollars)? That price was what you paid if you were willing to get the base 3.8-liter Buick V6, though. To get a V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, you had to pay extra. If you did pay the extra for a V8, which one you got depended on which state you lived in; in California, you got this 305-cubic-inch (5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block), and in the other 49 states you got a 301-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) Pontiac. The 305 was rated at 150 horsepower with 230 pound-feet; the 301 made 140hp and 240 lb-ft. This car was originally bought in California (the state line is about ten miles away from its final parking spot), so it has the Chevy engine. The V8 added $195 (plus $250 for the California-only emissions system) to the out-the-door price of the car, or about $1,316 in 2023 dollars. Outside of California, a 4.3-liter Chevy V6 was available for just 80 additional bucks ($305 now). All 1980 Grand Prix got a three-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, with no manual available from the factory. This car has the optional air conditioning, which cost $601 ($2,293 after inflation). This is the "Custom Sport" steering wheel, which was standard on the LJ. The tilt option cost $81 ($309 today).
