1967 Buick GS 400

You are viewing a very nice unrestored original survivor GS with 72K original miles.  The car is dialed in and runs and drives excellent.  The car has been garaged all of its life and it shows.  Some work had been done to keep the car very presentable.

Please read on for more particulars of the car:

Body/Paint:  The paint is mostly original with a few areas that have been spotted in.  You wouldn’t know by looking at it.  No dents with the body and paint in excellent condition.  Very nice red pin striping.  The vinyl top is original to the car and in excellent condition for its age.  Shows very well.

Interior:  The interior shows very well with the carpet, seat covers replaced.  The dash, door panels and head liner are original to the car and in very good condition.  The console is original along with other bright work in very good condition.  Aftermarket tach in place of the original tach in the console.  After market gauges, Temp, oil pressure and amps.

Running Gear:  400-4 original to the car, rebuilt with a street cam.  Edelbrock replacement carb for the original quadrojet.  Ceramic coated headers.  Air cleaner is not original to the car.  Lots of torque.  The trans is original to the car, 3 speed and rebuilt with shift kit in excellent working order.  Rear end is original to the car, 10 bolt posi and good working order.  Pusher fan for hot days.  The car runs cool.

Suspension:  The suspension is tight and rides nice.  Frame is solid and presentable.  Newer shocks and rides very nice and solid.

Brakes:  Power drum brakes in good working order.

Exhaust:  3 inch exhaust with turbo style muffler.  With the cam the exhaust system is the best thing about the car.  Sound awesome.

Options:  Remote trunk opener, tilt, speed sensor, package shelf defroster, power steering, power driver’s seat, power drum brakes and tilt column.

What doesn’t work:  Radio and clock.

Bright work:  Original to the car and unrestored and very presentable.  Some signs of age and ware.  Right corner of rear bumper has a couple of small scrapes.

Glass:  All original glass in very good condition.

Wheels/Tires:  Wheels are Buick after market in excellent condition.  Rears are 14x8 and 14x6 front.  Good radial tires with lots of rubber.  245/60 14

Summary:  Buick GS of this era are pretty rare and hard to find in this good overall condition.  Many replacement parts are not available aftermarket so to have an excellent survivor is very desirable when wanting a presentable car that looks good.  This is a great car that runs and drives excellent.  Great value for the money.  If you are shopping for a quality 67 GS 400 this car is worthy of your consideration.  Don’t let this one pass you by.  I have over 100 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures.  Don’t miss out on this affordable ride.

Disclaimer:  The car is for sale locally.  The owner has the right to cancel the auction at any time for any reason.  No warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied with the car being sold in "AS IS" condition.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

Junkyard Gem: 1997 Pontiac Sunfire SE Convertible

Sun, Mar 5 2023

For the entire 24-year production run of the GM J platform (best known for the Chevrolet Cavalier), the Pontiac Division offered new J-Body cars for sale in the United States. First there was the J2000, followed in quick succession by the 2000, 2000 Sunbird and Sunbird. The Sunbird stuck around until the Cavalier got a major redesign for the 1995 model year, at which point Pontiac changed the car's name to Sunfire. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those early Sunfires, a top-of-the-line SE convertible with the optional big engine and manual transmission. The Sunfire was an extremely close sibling to the same-year Cavalier (by the late 1980s, all the other US-market GM divisions had dropped their J-cars, which meant no more Skyhawks, Cimarrons or Firenzas), quite difficult to distinguish from its near-twin at a glance. The base engine for the 1997 Sunfire convertible was the pushrod 2.2-liter straight-four that powered so many J-bodies of the 1990s. That engine produced just 120 gnashing, valve-floating horsepower, not much by late-1990s standards. For a mere 450 additional dollars, however, the 2.4-liter Twin Cam engine and its high-revving 150 horses could be had by '97 Sunfire buyers. That's what's in this car. This is one of the members of the Oldsmobile Quad 4 family, though some fanatics will yell at you if you apply that name to the versions that don't have big QUAD 4 lettering cast into the valve cover. This is the most powerful engine ever used in production Sunfires. For 1997, Pontiac offered a four-speed automatic transmission for no extra cost in the Sunfire convertible. Buyers of all other Sunfire models that year had to shell out either $550 or $810 ($1,026 or $1,511 in 2023 dollars) for a two-pedal rig. That means that the buyer of this car really wanted the five-speed manual transmission (or just hungered for the $810 credit offered in the fine print for takers of the manual). Plenty of free-breathing engine power, five-on-the-floor driving enjoyment and the open skies above. What a fun car! This one made it to nearly 180,000 miles. For this car with the Quad 4 under the hood and a clutch pedal on the floor, the MSRP was $18,539 (about $34,584 today). Its Cavalier LS convertible twin with the same engine/transmission setup cost $17,365 ($32,394 now). This car has a bunch of options, including the 15" Rally aluminum wheels, so the out-the-door price would have been higher. The last year for the Sunfire was 2005, same as the Cavalier.
