Up for auction is this ALL ORIGINAL, 48,200 ORIGINAL MILEAGE, ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE 1971 Grand Prix Model J. This is truly a one-of-a-kind pampered vehicle that still has its original paint. This is a Ziebart vehicle. If you’re a purist and have been looking for a COMPLETELY UNMOLESTED 1971 Grand Prix with ALL original documentation, then this the one you’ve been looking for! This is a highly optioned car with factory 8 track player, power locks, rally gauge cluster and rally II wheels. This ALL ORIGINAL 1971Grand Prix is PHS verified. Here is the history and specifics on the car:

This 1971 Grand Prix was delivered to GVM Pontiac in Carnegie, PA (per the PHS reproduction window sticker) in July, 1971. It was purchased by a gentleman by the name of  Mr. Priest (per the Protect-O-Plate) in August, 1971.  He drove the car occasionally until he died in 1995.  When he died, the car had 45,000 miles on it.  At that time, his estate sold the car to a local lady by the name of  Mrs. Smith.  She rarely drove the car.  It mostly sat in her climate-controlled storage facility.  Because she never drove the car, she decided to sell it in 2010.  At this point, the car had 47,000 miles on it.  She sold the car to a gentleman by the name of Mr. Weber in Iowa.  Again, he owned the car for 3 years and only drove it twice – once on a long trip.  The car just sat in his climate controlled storage facility. At this point, (September, 2013), he sold the car to me.  It had just turned 48,000 miles.  Fortunately, when the original owner (Mr. Priest) bought the car, he had the car undercoated by Ziebart. This is evident by the thick undercoating all underneath the undercarriage of the car and in the engine bay. The car was also injected with undercoating in the door sills and door jambs as evidenced by the yellow plugs seen in the pics and the Ziebart sticker on the inside of the driver’s side door.  Whether this car has ever been driven in snow or inclement weather is hard to tell, because there is not one speck of rust to be found  ANYWHERE on any part of this car.  The fact that this car has always been garage-kept and meticulously maintained and  pampered,  has completely preserved every aspect of this car. It is truly in AMAZING ORIGINAL CONDITION!  (NOTE: I have the contact info on the previous 2 owners).

EXTERIOR: As previously stated, there is no rust anywhere on any of the body panels on this car. All body panels are original. The original chrome bumpers are near mint as is all of the original chrome trim. The original chrome front grilles are flawless.  One of the truly fascinating aspects of this car is that the original Code 2359 Aztec Gold Poly lacquer paint is in near-flawless condition.  The paint still has incredible shine and luster with minimal defects.  The Dark Brown vinyl top is original and is in excellent condition with no fading. There are no rust or bubble issues anywhere under the original vinyl top. All glass is original and in perfect shape. All weatherstripping and seals are original and in perfect shape. The original Power Beam  headlights work perfectly. The original taillights look new and work perfectly. The original 14x7 Rally II wheels are in excellent condition, as are the original PMD red center caps which still have almost perfect color and no fading.  The original Rally II wheels sit on a brand new set of G78-14 3/8” dual whitewall bias ply tires.  This was the exact tire that came on the car in 1971 and matches the original spare tire in the trunk perfectly.  When I purchased the car, it had a brand new set of  BF Goodrich raised white letter radials on it.  (These tires come with the car for those who prefer the look of the white letter tire to the original dual whitewall tire.)  At some point after purchasing the car, the Mr. Priest added a passenger door OEM mirror, and red pinstriping.  This is confirmed by conversations with the previous 2 owners and the “patina” of these 2 items. When I detailed the vehicle, great care was taken to ‘preserve’ the Ziebart overspray present on the panels around the front bumper and wheel well trim. This car is a true education on how the Ziebart process worked and how it was applied back in the day. It was truly a great product that worked fantastically at preventing rust.

INTERIOR: EVERYTHING in the Code 93 Dark Saddle interior is original to the car and in pristine condition  with NO FADING – the package tray, the vinyl seats, the head liner, the rear seat side panels, the front door panels, the front floor mats, the carpet, the AM radio, the clock, all gauges, dash,  console, etc. All interior lights work perfectly, as do all the gauges and  the key buzzer. The only items not working in the interior are the original clock and  the cigarette lighter. The front seats were professionally re-covered 2 months ago in the original Dark Saddle color and pattern (AMES Performance Reproductions).  The original seat covers were in excellent condition, but had the typical split in the middle of the seat where the stitching and buttons are. The headliner does have a tiny hole (barely noticeable) above the drivers head, probably from a cigarette burn!

TRUNK: The original spare tire and jack system are completely intact and in pristine condition.  A reproduction trunk liner from AMES Performance is in pristine condition. The original jack decal is still present under the deck lid and in pristine condition. The original rear speaker and cover are still present. The original cardboard side panels are present and in pristine condition. There is no rust anywhere to be found inside the trunk. It is extremely clean and pristine. There obviously have never been any roof  leaks with this car – another testament to a garage- kept car.

ENGINE BAY: The original XF code 400 4 barrel engine runs and starts  perfectly and has not been rebuilt, because there has never been a reason to. The original Turbo Hydramatic transmission shifts and works perfectly. The engine bay still retains its original battery tray and holddown clamp, alternator, radiator and shroud, wiring, brake booster, master cylinder, heater core, Quadrajet carburetor,  manifolds, underhood liner, and air cleaner. The following correct-for-the-year  reproduction items have been added:  Packard black sparkplug wires, tower clamps, AC compressor and sticker (working and blowing cold – R12), and battery cables.  The engine oil was recently changed as were the filters.  All new hoses have been added.  The transmission has been serviced recently and the radiator has been flushed and filled.  I have the original AC compressor which is in near-perfect condition (seized up) – this comes with the car.  A new AC Delco battery was recently installed for fresh and reliable starts. All maintenance records for services I have performed, come with the car. The engine bay has been cleaned and detailed to resemble its original factory look when it first rolled into the dealer showroom in July, 1971.  I have deliberately not painted the engine block because most of the original paint (especially on the valve covers) is present and in great shape.  The other reason is because no correct reproduction engine paint for Pontiac cars for the 1971-72 model years is in production.  Additionally, if you look closely, you can see the Ziebart undercoating on the tops of the wheel wells and frame. The original windshield washer motor and squirters are not working.

UNDERCARRIAGE: There is no rust to be found anywhere underneath the car.  This is due to the thick black Ziebart undercoating found everywhere underneath.   The car still retains its original  3.08 POSI rear end.  A new set of shocks in the correct light gray color have been added  recently. A new Magnaflow exhaust system in the correct factory pattern was installed by the 2nd owner approx. 5 years ago.  It is still in near-mint condition.

This ALL ORIGINAL 1971 Grand Prix Model J comes with ALL OF IT’S ORIGINAL documentation - owner’s manual, owner’s manual plastic sleeve, warranty leaflet/card, Pennsylvania license plate with ‘71’ sticker, Protect-O-Plate, two build sheets, and PHS reproduction window sticker. This may be the nicest, most original, pristine, unmolested 1971 Grand Prix still in existence. If you’re a purist, then you’ll be hard-pressed to find another all original and completely unmolested 1971 Grand Prix as nice as this one. Because of the extremely low original mileage – 48,200 miles and ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE condition and originality, this is a truly an INVESTMENT GRADE 1971 Grand Prix. Additionally, a high quality sign with car specifics  and frame with documents come with the car (see pic). Also, the memorabilia items pictured in the trunk and the models pictured in the engine bay come with the car.

eBay is littered with all kinds of modified Grand Prix’s and unscrupulous sellers who deliberately give out vague and incomplete information in an attempt to hide defects to try to get more for their car.  You won’t find that here! That’s why I give a complete, accurate and thorough description of this car.  Check out the high resolution pics. I have tons of photos. If there’s a shot of the car you want to see that’s not posted, give me your email and I will try to accommodate your request. You won’t find another 1971 Grand Prix in this pristine original condition anytime soon! This one is the real deal! Don’t let this one get away! CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE! Please call me at 937-269-7909 with any additional questions or serious offers. FREE ENCLOSED SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE US WITH BUY IT NOW!

Lastly, PLEASE don’t waste my time with silly low ball offers. I won’t respond to them. I know exactly what this car  is worth in this original condition and I won’t settle for less. I’m not desperate to sell the car. If it sells to someone who is a purist and appreciates pristine original Pontiacs, then that’d be great! If  not, then I’m happy to keep her.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

GM replacing passenger airbags in over 243,000 Pontiac Vibes

Sat, Jun 20 2015

General Motors is repairing over 243,000 additional examples of the 2003-2007 Pontiac Vibe in the US and Canada to replace their Takata-supplied passenger-side airbag inflators. The company has no reports of irregular deployments in the models, though. These aren't actually newly included vehicles in the massive safety campaign. As a twin to the Toyota Matrix, the Vibe was already included in Toyota's figures, but as Pontiac-branded vehicles, GM dealers are taking care of these replacements. They have been covered as part of the Takata campaign in the past. Toyota expanded its own Takata recall to passenger-side components for 1.365 million vehicles on June 16. Earlier, General Motors also issued a campaign for 330,198 examples of the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 3500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and 3500HD pickups to replace their passenger-side parts. After exposure to moisture, it's possible for these inflators to ignite too quickly in an accident and spray shrapnel at occupants. GM Statement The Vibes are included in two Toyota recall campaigns - one for high absolute humidity (HAH) areas and one for non-HAH areas. Both are considered national recalls even though only vehicles in certain HAH states and territories are in the recall. Total Pontiac Vibe passenger air bag numbers for MY 2003-2007 (U.S. and Canada only): High Absolute Humidity 89,719 Non High Absolute Humidity areas 252,685 These are the totals, which include about 99,000 previously recalled. GM knows of no field issues - irregular deployments - with these air bag inflators.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
