You are bidding on a 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix Sport Coupe. I bought this vehicle from the original owner and performed a frame off, rotisserie restoration on it . No expense spared. The car has 58,200 original miles on it, and has been driven approximately 100 miles since restoration. It is a PHS documented 336 code 330h.p. 389 tri-power automatic. It is one of 860 (336 code) 389 tri-power cars built in 1964. The car has its original numbers matching engine, #9770716 heads, tripower, etc... The body was taken down to bare metal and was repainted in its original color code DD Silver Mist Grey (DuPont Basecoat/ Clearcoat). The body work is laser straight. The car retains 90% of it's original black interior, only the inserts in the front buckets, the carpet, and headliner are new. It was optioned with manual brakes, power steering, dual exhaust, 3.23 posi, and 8-lug wheels. The original owner's manual with identification plates are still with the car. The original 336 code block was bored .060 over and fitted with TRW 400 forged pistons, clevite bearings, reground crank, etc... Original 716 heads were totally redone with new valve guides, seats, valves, springs, etc... Engine runs fantastic and is restored down to the original spring hose clamps, date coded spark plug wires, and original type battery. This code engine could have also been ordered in Catalina's, which is where 80-90% of them went into, due to their lighter weight. When you figure in this factor, this could be one of 50 or could be the only one ever ordered in a Grand Prix with this color/ interior combination. Original trans was rebuilt and works great. The chrome and stainless trim were professionally redone. There are too many details to list with this car. The car has had everything rebuilt or replaced underneath, in the trunk area, everywhere. There are none nicer. The whole car has been restored from the ground up. It is stunning. The car runs and drives flawlessly but only gets driven off and on a trailer to and from shows. This car has won numerous best of shows, and popular votes at All Pontiac shows, and has been professionally point judged, where it has won the highest award given, (Platinum), in the stock category. Bid with confidence. There are none nicer than this one. If you have any questions, call 1-319-885-6242 or 1-319-885-4372. Happy bidding. winning bidder must deposit $1000 on PayPal within 48 hrs. after auction ends. The rest of the balance is due within 7 days after auction ends. Payment can be made by cash in person, certified cashier's check, (must be verified by our bank, when check clears, the title will be provided). Buyer is responsible for vehicle transport or shipping.

Junkyard Gem: 2002 Pontiac Aztek
Sat, Apr 17 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold the Aztek for the 2001 through 2005 model years, and — despite enjoying something of a cultural rebirth in recent years — it is generally considered to be one of the worst cars of all time. The idea of using a minivan platform as the basis for a rough-and-tough-looking crossover with plenty of outdoor-lifestyle amenities wasn't the problem, since many vehicle manufacturers have printed bales of money using that formula. What doomed the Aztek was its hideous appearance and sticker price too lofty for its underemployed-at-the-time Generation X target demographic. Still, the Aztek proved to be perfectly suited for the outdoor activities that Coloradans love: hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, hauling mud-caked golden retrievers around, etc., and so you'll still find lots of Azteks on the roads of the Centennial State. Here's an Aztek Yellow Aztek (yes, that's really the paint color's official title) residing just a few rows from a '76 Checker Taxicab in a Denver self-service yard. Sure, it does look like a vehicle built to the specifications of a six-year-old who decreed a mashup between a Datsun F-10 and a Fisher-Price Little People Travel Together Airplane, but so what? There's a built-in air compressor to blow up your inflatable rafts and volleyballs, a tent attachment that turns the rear of the van into a camper, 12-volt power plugs all over the vehicle (years before this became commonplace on ordinary minivans and SUVs), and running-gear commonality with a jillion Ventures, Silhouettes, Montanas and Trans Sports. Buick managed to de-uglify the Aztek (somewhat) and sold it as the Rendezvous through 2007, but the Aztek never could win over many people with this face. I see plenty of Azteks and Rendezvouses in Denver-area wrecking yards, and I've documented a handful over the years. This one came fully loaded from the factory, with the Corvette-style heads-up display in full effect. The center console was a removable cooler, which was a great idea Â… except for the fact that this cooler holds five standard 12-ounce cans. Michigan residents tell me that this must have been intentional on the part of the Detroit-based Aztek designers, because Michiganders are expected to chug one beer out of a sixer as they walk from the liquor store to the car in the parking lot Â… which makes me extra cautious whenever I'm driving in the Wolverine State.
GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
Junkyard Gem: 1986 Pontiac Fiero 2M4
Sun, Oct 8 2023The mid-engined, plastic-bodied Pontiac Fiero two-seater caused great excitement when it hit the streets as a 1984 model, then became something of an embarrassment for GM when its design flaws became clear to the car-buying public. Still, when a V6 engine became available for 1985, followed by a fastback roof for 1986, the air of Pontiac Excitement around the Fiero lingered to a certain extent. We took a look at a discarded '86 Fiero GT with both the 2.8-liter V6 and the fastback body last year, and now we'll take a look at an example of the econo-commuter four-cylinder notchback version from the same year. Pontiac used the 2M4 designation (standing for two seats, mid-engine, four cylinders) on four-cylinder Fieros, while the six-cylinder cars were known as 2M6s. 2M4 decals went on four-banger Fieros for the 1984-1986 model years, while 2M6 decals seem to have been applied less consistently to the V6 cars of that period. During the early development period of the car that became the Fiero, the idea was that it would be a nimble sports car with a lightweight engine. Then the plan shifted, with the Fiero intended to be a gas-sipping commuter. When the car finally hit showrooms, it was a lot heavier than intended, it had a Chevy Citation front suspension in the back plus a Chevette front suspension, and its engine was the low-revving, weighty Iron Duke 2.5-liter straight-four. The Duke was about the least sports-car-appropriate four-cylinder engine The General could dredge up from his parts bins, but it was cheap and there was no shortage of production capacity. By the time the Fiero came out, the Iron Duke had been renamed the Tech 4. This one was rated at 92 horsepower and 132 pound-feet. The V6 Fieros get all the press today, but plenty of the Duked versions were sold (amazingly, the Chevrolet Camaro was available with Iron Duke power from 1982 through 1986). The emissions sticker tells us that this was a California-market car, rather than the "49-state" model the rest of the country got. California-specific emissions hardware added $99 to this car's price ($277 in 2023 dollars). While this car is a base model, the original buyer loaded it with options. The transmission is a three-speed automatic, priced at $465 (about $1,303 in 2023 dollars). A five-speed manual was standard equipment on the 1986 Fiero, though the old-fashioned four-speed manual was still available for a $50 credit ($140 now).
