1964 Pontiac Grand Prix, Owned about 13 years, I believe I am the third owner...Solid, great original survivor that runs and looks great, nice paint probably done many years ago, original paint is in door jambs and trunk , excellent original interior, original 389 with 4 bbl, posi, 8 lug rims (including matching spare rim and tire), tilt wheel, power windows, power antenna, factory am/fm radio, dual exhaust, Red with rare red interior and black vinyl top. Console, excellent original red interior and all factory gauges in excellent condition, including original Pontiac vacuum gauge on console (it looks like an old school tach). Original selling dealer metal emblem still on trunk lid. New radiator, still have old one in box, new battery. Chrome exhaust tips. Solid floor pans and chassis. Chassis has typical scaling type surface corrosion but NO ROT, it is SOLID... could of easily wire brushed the chassis and put undercoating on it to make it look great, but we chose to let it be as is for next owner...and you see exactly that it has no rot and is solid, instead of hiding the unknown like most unscrupulous sellers do. This car can be driven anywhere. it's that reliable. Original vinyl top is slightly worn. Some minor rust behind both rear wheels (see photos). Please call if really interested, please no scams, trades, etc. I've driven this car all over, on very long trips to cruises and shows and it is always reliable, can drive it anywhere with confidence and reliability. Some recent new front end parts as well as other new parts over the years. Historically insured.

I'm listing this for a good friend who is selling to downsize for medical bills of a family member and open to reasonable fair offers...not interested in low ball offers. You can drive this car anywhere...it runs that good. Car also has modern CD changer in trunk that is included depending on selling price. Asking $9500 or best offer for a quick sale to a good home. I've described the car to the best of my availability. I am not a car dealer, nor have I sold any other cars on ebay, so with that being said there is no warranty on this car...you are buying it "as is". I encourage you to come look at it so there are no hard feelings if you buy it and then think it wasn't describe to your satisfaction or criteria. Also in New York State there are no titles on cars 1972 and older, they are sold with transferable registrations which to the best of my knowledge are accepted in every state as the equivalent to a title. No Paypal accepted...cash or bank check only accepted....and check would have to fully clear before car is released.

*I also have an 88 Cadillac Allante with 39k original miles with hardtop, in excellent condition, silver with black top and red interior, silver hardtop with hardtop stand...I want to sell one or the other...the Grand Prix or the Caddy, so if the GP doesn't sell, I will list the Caddy at a later time, looking for 9k for that one.

Call five one six 5034297 before 9:30 PM. Car is currently at friends shop in Syosset NY (a few blocks off Long Island Expressway or Northern State Pkwy) he's going to install new valve cover gaskets, adjust the brakes and repair a leaky transmission line, so it can be seen for the next few days in Long Island, then will go back to storage in Queens, NY.

NO TEXTS WILL BE ANSWERED, If you are really interested in the car, give me a call anytime after 8 AM and before 9:30 PM eastern standard time, I will try to check e-mails every day or so. Also, if you have zero feedback, or past negative feedback...do not bid unless you call me first, otherwise I will just cancel the bid.

Also reserve the right to end auction early, car is for sale locally.

Porsche Syberia RS rally car is what you make when you need a Hummer that's fast

Fri, Apr 24 2020

Some history: The Porsche 911's first-ever race was the 1965 Monte Carlo rally, entered because Porsche's PR man at the time wanted to show how much the future icon could do. A year later, Porsche began selling an optional rally kit for the 911 that included Recaro seats, a roll bar, and adjustable Koni dampers. Porsche produced factory rally racers until the early 1970s, winning Monte Carlo three times in a row before letting privateers carry the torch so the factory could focus on campaigning in the East Africa Safari. After years of painful lessons, when Porsche took its brand-new 1978 911 SC to the safari, the 3.0-liter flat-six coupe was hours away from winning the race before damaging the suspension, demoting the car to second place. Porsche fans wanted their own replicas, and finding the new 911 to be an affordable option, the SC — built from 1978 to 1983 — went from denoting "Super Carrera" to "Safari Car."   Porsche took a big step up in with the 953 rally car. Built to win the 1984 Paris-Dakar, which it did, the 953 introduced the four-wheel-drive system Porsche would evolve for the 959 in 1985 and the 964-series 911 in 1989, as well as the now-unforgettable 911-based Rothmans livery. All of this is what's fueling today's 911 Safari Car revival around the world. Almost all of today's builds start with the so-called G Model 911s, produced from 1973 to 1989, usually focusing on the SC and the Carrera that ran from 1984 until 1989.  Fast forward to 2007 when a mysterious crew organized the TransSyberia Rally, a "sports-touring" event that stretched 4,500 miles from Moscow to the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Of the 34 vehicles that entered, 25 were Porsche's purpose-built Cayenne S Transsyberia Edition.  Put this all in a pot and you have the beginnings of the car that brings us here, the Syberia RS. It's said that a German fellow by the name of Kai Burkhard wanted to buy a Humvee, but the low top speed, around 50 miles per hour, put him off. So instead, he imported a 1986 911 "in collector condition" from Japan with the idea of rebuilding it to provide almost all the off-road fun he could have had in the H1. Burkhard tapped the Tailor Made department at German suspension designer H&R, and the two set to work creating a build like the 953 Dakar winner.  This content is hosted by a third party. Toyota urges owners of old Corolla, Matrix and RAV4 models to park them until airbags are replaced

Mon, Jan 29 2024

DETROIT — Toyota and General Motors are telling the owners of about 61,000 older Corolla, RAV4, Matrix/ Pontiac Vibe models to stop driving them because their Takata airbag inflators are at risk of exploding and hurling shrapnel. The urgent warning Monday covers: Certain Corolla compact cars and Matrix hatchbacks from the 2003 and 2004 model years. RAV4 small SUVs from 2004 and 2005. Also covered are about 11,000 Pontiac Vibes from 2003 and 2004, which are essentially the same as the Matrix and were made at the same California factory. Most of the vehicles are in the U.S. “If the airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments, which could cause serious injury or death to the driver or passengers,” Toyota said in a statement. Owners can go to nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their cars are affected. If you're not the original owner of the vehicle, the manufacturer's recall letter might not reach you, so be sure to do the VIN check. The recalled RAV4s have Takata driver's airbags while the Corolla and Matrix models have them on the passenger side. The Corolla and Matrix also are under a separate recall because their airbags can be deployed without a crash, the company said. Both companies said owners should contact a local dealer instead of driving the cars in for repairs. Dealers will provide options such as mobile repair, towing the car to a dealer, or vehicle pickup and delivery. Takata used volatile ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion to inflate airbags in a crash. But the chemical propellant can deteriorate over time when exposed to high temperatures and humidity. It can explode with too much force, blowing apart a metal canister and spewing shrapnel. At least 26 people have been killed in the U.S. by Takata inflators since May 2009, and at least 30 have died worldwide including people in Malaysia and Australia. In addition, about 400 people have been injured. The exploding airbags sent Takata of Japan into bankruptcy. The potential for a dangerous malfunction led to the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history. About 100 million inflators were recalled worldwide. Recalls Pontiac Toyota Takata airbag recall

700 horsepower Porsche GT2 RS is the wildest 911 ever

Fri, Jun 30 2017

The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, each filling a certain taste for a certain customer. Sitting atop the range is the new 911 GT2 RS. In previous generations, the GT2 had a bit of a reputation as a widowmaker, a 911 with massive power that could snap and bite with the slightest agitation. Porsche says the new model has been civilized, but with 700 horsepower going to the rear wheels, we're sure it's going to be as mad as ever. Power comes from a highly massaged version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. The rear-mounted engine makes an outrageous 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like we previously reported, the new car will use water injection to help keep things cool. The only transmission is Porsche's PDK. While enthusiasts may lament the loss of the manual, the RS models have always been about performance above all else. Simply put, the PDK is the better performance option. All that power translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The engine makes 80 more horsepower than the previous model. That makes it the most powerful road-going 911 ever built. In fact, the 887 horsepower 918 Spyder is the only road-going Porsche that makes more power. The fact that Porsche trusts all of that power to go to the rear is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. In order to manage traction, the GT2 RS gets a number of upgrades. Rear-wheel steering has become commonplace in the 911 lineup, so it's no surprise to see it here. Sticky tires with 265/35 ZR 20 section rubber at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 section rubber at the rear keep things planted. That comically large rear wing adds downforce, adding to stability. The car gets standard carbon ceramic brakes. While some people prefer traditional rotors for the street, like the PDK, this is all about performance. A number of intakes and outlets complement the rear wing and maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It's a bit of a surprise that with all the focus on downforce, the GT2 RS still manages to top out at 211 mph. The hood, front wings, wheel housing vents, door mirrors, side air intakes, parts of the rear end, and a number of interior components are all made from carbon fiber. The roof has been made of magnesium. If you want to drop any pretense of civility and comfort in the pursuit of speed, Porsche is offering a Weissach package that shaves off another 40 pounds from the already impressive wet weight of 3,241.
