Selling at a sacrifice with no reserve.  2002 Grand Am SE1, V6 Loaded with clear Title!  Kelly Bluebook on ebay has this model listed for $3,250 in excellent condition. I love this car and planned to work on it to keep it up, but time got away from me. I am just too busy these days. Time to sell. After having a mechanic look at it I know the right buyer may have all issues remedied reasonably. I have brought the price way down in consideration of its issues.

This car does run.  It has 4 doors, Power Moonroof, Fog Lamps and Rear Spoiler and loaded with power everything. The stereo system is great with six speakers CD, Tape and MP3 Jack. Interior is in very good condition. The carpet has minor spots. The car has great pick up & handles great. Front brakes are recent. The paint exterior is in good condition except for fading on rear bumper not visble in pix, minor dings/scratches and one small (1 inch long) deep gouge on hood on driver side. The tires have some life on them with a spare in trunk. Lots of spare keys & 2 factory remotes. There is a 3rd party alarm w/ remote that is not engaged, but can be. Currently has steering fluid leak, power locks operate with key remote only (not buttons), also a battery draining issue (may be related to the lock buttons). Battery issue leaves me with no choice other then to disconnect it unless I am taking it for its weekly drive around the neighborhood.  The battery not being connected at all times makes it so the car will not pass NV smog check.  No longer my primary car, but I drive it weekly and it runs smooth.  All fixable issues for the right buyer. This is an "AS IS SALE" with no warranty or return policy. Sold from private seller. Shipping to out of state buyers will be at buyers cost.

Thanks

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
