Great car songs were written after great cars. In 1964 "RONNY AND THE DAYTONAS" an American Surf Rock Group launched their debut single hit

" G.T.O." reached No. 4 on the Billboard singles chart named after the 1964 Pontiac GTO, the car that inspired & started the Muscle Car era.

The Story:

Back in 1967 I was 5 years old. My dad was a car dealer on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey called Bergenfield. The same town Bob Gaudio of the original Four Seasons grew up "Jersey Boys"  and the rock band "The Knickerbockers" . My dad brought home a book of all American made cars built in 1967. I remember this book till today. It was a gray hardcover book. I started to flip through the pages, I came across the picture of a 1967 Pontiac GTO and was fascinated by it. About the same time I started watching I Dream of Jeannie and Major Nelson drove a Convertible GTO. The Monkees with the Monkeemobile.  I was hooked on a GTO, Well sort of... It wasn't till a few month later when my older brother Jake while still in High School convinces my dad to go with him to buy a Silver 1962 Corvette. From the moment he pulled into the driveway and gave me my first ride, I was completely converted, now I'm a Corvette kid.

When I turned 16 my first car was a 1962 corvette.

The Chase :

One of my good clients and friend has a very large car collection. So large that he also has a Museum to show case them and rotates them regularly for the public to see by appointment. Throughout the years we have bought or sold cars to each other. This GTO was one of those cars. This GTO has been in his as I call it "Warehouse Climate Controlled  Storage Collection" since 2005 and then added to his "Museum collection" in 2009. Last October during one of our business conversations as any good car guy would ask "Anything good for sale?' He said "yes" and rattles off a list of cars he would like to sell.  BINGO!!  a light bulb went off in my head about that book I had when I was a kid and my shattered dreams about a 67 GTO.  A deal was struck immediately.

The Fix:

When I purchased the car it had 67,601 miles on it. I've driven the car 817 miles as I type this ad. It now reads 68,418. This car is a blast to drive. It rides as any Outstanding body on restored GTO would on Bias Ply red line tires. The suspension is tight. The wife & I cruise in the comfort of cold A/C. All the options work. All locks work with the proper keys. Windows operate correctly. Gauges all work, including Speedo & Tach. Temp gauge is at 210 with air on in traffic. Car shifts smoothly as it should.

The Deal:

For your consideration is a 1967 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe. This original factory 400ci 335hp mated to its original Muncie 4 speed transmission. What makes this car rare is that the original owner check off C60 Factory Air Conditioning. Most GTO with Factory Air Conditioning were ordered with Automatic Transmissions.

Ordered new from Leo Jarnagin Pontiac located in Fort Worth, Texas. Assembly plant location is Kansas City, Missouri.

According to the PHS documentation, Factory Options include: Tyrol Blue Exterior with Parchment Interior, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Rally Gauge Cluster & Tachometer, Console, Drivers Remote Control Mirror, Deluxe Steering Wheel, AM/FM pushbutton & Manual Antenna, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, 4 Speed Manual Transmission, F70 Red line Tires. Rear Seat Speaker and Rally 1 Wheels. Power Trunk appears to have been added.

Excellent original STRAIGHT body panels on this rust free Texas GTO. Front Fenders, Rear Quarter Panels and Trunk Lid have factory stamped numbers. All original Chrome and bright work are in excellent condition. All original glass except for windshield.  Restored in early 2003-2004 still shows remarkably well.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
