Here is a GTO (Clone) This started out life as a Tempest Custom but as you can see Looks exactly Like a GTO! I have Spent a TON of Money on this car so far Just getting all the required Stuff to convert it into a GTO. It is Not just a hood swap like a lot of guys do and then call it a clone I went the Whole Nine yards and bought just about EVERYTHING!!!!! As you can see we changed the Tail Light Panel to a GTO, I found a set of GTO Tail Lights and they are Installed with New Gaskets and Bolts. I also found a Real set of GTO Grilles (not repo's) I bought the GTO Parking Lights and they are Brand New in the Box. Grille Surrounds are still needed. I have new Window felts in The Box, New Door Handles, EVERY GTO Emblem that goes on the car. (Inside and out) I also have the GTO Lucite that goes above the Glove Box and the Grab Handle. I have a Brand New Trunk Seal and I also Bought Brand New Bumpers that are still in the Box! I also had the Bumpers Brackets Sand Blasted and Powder Coated. (most of them can be seen on the spare tire in the trunk) I also Bought a 1967 Center Console and "His And Hers" Shifter and I put New Wood grain on the Console and the Shifter. I also have all the Brackets needed to install and hook up the Console and Shifter! The Dash also has New Wood Grain on it. .. The Hood is A Factory GTO Hood, (Not a Repo) The car has a New Dash Pad, new arm rest bases and Pads and New Rugs. Car Also has a New Dual Exhaust with Flowmaster Mufflers. Top has never really been out in the Weather since it was Installed. I also have Brand New Wheel Well Moldings, and the Chrome that goes on top of the Door Edge and Quarter edge... It is supposed to have a 1969 350 in it and it has an Aluminum Intake and a Holley Carb. The car Also has Power Steering and Power Brakes.... All it needs Now is to be Block Sanded and Painted. Recover the Interior and You'll have a Beautiful Convertible for the Summer! The floors and trunk are Solid, No rust!.. The Underside Looks Great!! .. This is a Very Solid car! I just put a  New Battery in it from "Sams's Club" 5 Months ago. It will need a Battery tray. (I didn't get one because I was considering putting a Chevy Motor in it and I would have to relocate the battery Tray to the Opposite side) It also has Air Shocks on it. There is tons of stuff in the trunk to finish the car, Sand Paper, air board paper, thinner, some primer, Lacquer Thinner ect ect.... The car was Original Red, I was going to redo it Red with a White Interior. .It would look Gorgeous!!! But I lost Interest. Like I said I have a Ton of time and Money in it so far, My Loss is your gain! There isn't much left to do! I know I,m forgetting stuff and I'll try to add later. Check out the Pictures. Thanks for Looking. Buyer is responsible for Shipping. Uship.com  is probably the most reasonable. They bid for the Lowest Price. Also wanted to say that the Tires are still new, Just have been going around the Block from time to time. Also the car is Located in Sewell, NJ 08080 at this time if anyone wants to see it. I am Currently in Florida but My Brother can show it to you if needed. Thanks for looking.

Just so everyone know, to change the Interior over to White it will cost a total of $1195.00 from a Company called "TamRaz" That includes Everything even a Convertible top boot. If you want to keep the car with Black interior it would be cheap to finish, you would Only need front door panels and front seat covers. I have over $15K invested in this car. You can buy it here for less and still have a Finished Product for under $20K. You could be cruising in a Car that Looks like its Worth $50,000 for under $20,000. I have included 2 Pictures of How I was going to make the car look. See the 2 Pics I just added. This is what the car would look like when finished!

On Jan-28-13 at 17:39:06 PST, seller added the following information:

I would like to add that I may be interested in a Trade, I would prefer a 1967 to 1969 Camaro or a 1964 to 1972 Chevelle / Elcamino.. I,m a Chevy Guy. But I may be open to any Interesting trade of equal value or above. .. Remember, when the Top goes down the Price goes up!  ...  I just added 4 more Pictures, they are what the car looked like before I started working on it. As you can see the car was in very good condition before I started.

The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. Gordon Murray, F1-driven production and .. the Pontiac Fiero

Tue, Oct 31 2017

Gordon Murray's design and engineering chops are unquestionable. But does his carmaking approach owe something to the short-lived Pontiac Fiero, a scrappy little car program that emerged from GM against serious resistance? Murray had a Formula One career that ran from 1969 to 1991, with stints at Brabham ('69 to '86) and McLaren ('87-'91), that resulted in several shelves' worth of trophies for the cars he was instrumental in designing. He moved on to McLaren Cars, the consumer side of things, where, during his tenure from 1991 to 2004, he helped design the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, two cars that took learnings from his two decades in Formula One. What do all of these cars have in common? Three things: They are light. They were built in limited numbers. And they were (and are) exceedingly expensive—when the McLaren F1 debuted in 1994, it stickered at $815,000. Murray went on to establish Gordon Murray Design in 2007. GMD has created some interesting concept vehicles, such as the diminutive T.25 city car (94.5 inches long, 51.1 inches wide and 55.1 inches high), and the OX, a lightweight truck for the developing world that packs like an IKEA shelf and is working toward realization through a worthy crowdfunding campaign established by the Global Vehicle Trust. Now he has created a vehicle manufacturing company, Gordon Murray Automotive, that will use manufacturing methods that he developed under the moniker "iStream." Unlike a unibody, there are the "iFrame," a cage-like construction made with metallic components, and the "iPanels," which are composite. The panels aren't simply a decorative skin; they actually provide structure to the vehicle. Presumably this has something of the F1 monocoque about it. Going back to the three elements, (1) this arrangement results in a vehicle that can be comparatively light; (2) Murray has indicated that his manufacturing company will be doing limited-run production; and (3) to launch Gordon Murray Automotive they are going to be building a flagship model, about which Murray said, "With our first new car, we will demonstrate a return to the design and engineering principles that have made the McLaren F1 such an icon." Which seems to imply that it will be on the pricey side. According to the company's verbiage, "iStream forges an entirely new production method that defies conventionality with its Formula One-derived construction and materials technologies." It also sounds a whole lot like ...

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird

Sat, May 9 2020

From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space.
