1967 Pontiac GTO. This is one of the cleanest 67 GTO’s I have been around. A complete frame off restoration was done on this gem. This is a numbers matching 67 YS block that sits in an immaculate engine bay. It is a base code 400 engine with date coded correct 67 added HO exhaust manifolds and HO air cleaner. The carb is a factory service replacement date coded carb back in 67. The transmission, and rear end are original to the car also. The transmission has the His and hers shifter and it preforms perfectly. The interior is all original including the carpet and it looks like new. The body on the car is as straight as can be and the trim is all show quality and is also original to the car. I would say the paint is a 9.5 on a scale of 1-10 and the original Montego Cream is the factory color it was born with and is a beautiful color that you don’t see much of. The radio has the reverb option that works great and in 67 was way ahead of its time. The wheels are the reproduction Hurst chrome wheels and really look great on the car. I’m telling you the pictures don’t do this car justice it is really really nice. I have the Pontiac PHS documentation and have included copies in the pictures. My ffirst choice is to sell thius car but I might consider a trade but no projects or motorcycles. Please send any trade pictures to dadofcars@yahoo.com and call 330-353-0959 with any questions. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime as the car is for sale locally. As always the car is sold as is with no warranty. I request a $1,000.00 nonrefundable deposit at the end of the auction and the balance within 5 days. If shipping is needed I can connect you with a very good shipper I have used many times but the cost is the buyer’s responsibility. Please call 330-353-0959 This is one fine GTO.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
