Although not one of the nicer cars for sale, this car still deserves to be restored. This is a real 1967 GTO convertible, real RED car with full #S MATCHING from front to back. There is alot of cars for sale, but money is still better spent in a car that retains its original drivetrain. Parts where dated anywhere from a few weeks up to 3 months before the body build date. Body build date - 01C January 3rd week, Engine - A177 January 17 1967, Engine unit # - 337306 This # is on the rt frt of the block and on the original build sheet. This is 100% proof of the original motor. Manifold - L026 November 2 1966, Carb - L6 November 1966, Driver side head - A117 January 11 1967, Passenger side head - M276 December 27 1966 (both heads are 670s), Radiator Harrison coded TY, Alternator - 6K14 October 14 1966, Distributor - 7A11 January 11 1967, Transmission - coded PS 67 22904 - PS designates Turbo Hydra-Matic 400, Rear axle housing - A107 January 10 1967. Passenger floor is solid but the trunk floor will need to be replaced. When the car was purchased over 30 years ago it was in great shape. We drove it often and one day the car got hit in the LT quarter panel. We never repaired the qt panel and the seam between the qt panel and tail lamp panel seperated and water got into the trunk area. This is the reason the trunk floor and qt rotted out. It appears the car has not been taken apart and even has the original overspray on the firewall with the factory line worker applied R-223 code. R for regimental red and 223 for black interior. As with most cars that have sat for 30 years, a full restoration would be best. Finding a real red real GTO convertible with full #s matching is becoming almost impossible anymore. I believe 42,659 is original miles since its been off the road for 30 years. The cold season is upon us. What better way to spend it then to restore an icon.
On Dec-05-13 at 20:33:51 PST, seller added the following information: The trunk also needs to be replaced. As with any purchase I would suggest a visual inspection to help in making the best bidding decision. |

This classic Firebird restomod swallowed a Prius
Tue, Apr 19 2016It takes an unusual eye to look at a 1967 Pontiac Firebird and see the Toyota Prius hidden inside. But that's just the kind of eye that a creative mechanic known online as "Bill the Engineer" has. Bill is updating his old Firebird into a true classic for the 21st century and has documenting the changes over at Priuschat and EcoModder. The TL,DR version of the story: he's replacing the worn-out powertrain with the gas-electric hybrid one from a Prius V, because it turns out the two vehicles have almost exactly the same wheelbase. Bill, who's from Columbus, Ohio and doesn't want his full name used, said in his posts on the conversion project that he's made many memories with this vehicle since buying it back in 1979. Since then, a few moves, a few decades, and some time in storage meant that the car would no longer function as he wanted it to. As he wrote, "when it comes to mice in the vehicles IT IS WAR." His solution is to make new memories and making a greener vehicle, and so we wanted to ask him how things have been going. Bill's been traveling a bit recently, but told AutoblogGreen that he's now figuring out the next steps for this amazing and complicated project. "I always plan things out before I do them," he said. That's the only way something like this can work. ABG: I think we have to start with what gave you the inspiration for this project. Was it simply that you had the two cars and wanted to see them merged into one cool mashup, or was it something else? "One day my wife wondered out loud if the car could be converted into a hybrid... The rest is history." Bill: I have been the owner of my 1967 Firebird convertible since 1979 when I bought it for $750.00. I drove it for years and made many memories. Afterward it was in storage for many years during which time mice at their way into the car and trashed the interior and wiring. I started working on a conventional restoration but always ran into major problems with hidden corrosion, electrical issues and an engine on its last legs. The car was never going to be as nice as I wanted going the conventional route. One day my wife wondered out loud if the car could be converted into a hybrid like our two daily driver Prii. That got me thinking about how it could be done. The rest is history... ABG: It looks like you started in late 2014. Have things gone well since then, or has it been one hassle after another? What has been the biggest setback, and what were the biggest victories?
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Florida man runs down bikers in traffic
Tue, May 31 2016A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery.
