THANK YOU. 1967 Pontiac GTO Coupe (Rare) Introduction Hello, I’m Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS,LLC. You might recognize my name or my business name from beautiful classic cars and trucks I’ve listed for sale nationally. I’ve got over 15 years of classic car and truck experience. I’d like to put that experience to work for you. Over the years I’ve featured many classic cars and trucks at multiple different auctions across the United States. I consign multiple classic cars and trucks at all four of the Barrett Jackson auto auctions every year. I’m considered one of the top consignors at Barrett Jackson. I’ve had many classic cars and trucks sell in the top 25 highest sale priced vehicles for each event. They’ve also offered some of my cars as the “Marc Schiliro Collection”. I was fortunate to have Speed TV at my new facility for an interview for Barrett Jackson that aired during the Barrett Jackson auto auction in Palm Beach 2012. I’m a regular consignor at the Mecum auctions as well. I also have had many cars that have been featured in multiple magazines and multiple websites. I specialize in beautiful classic cars and trucks that have what I call “The Pop Factor”. I purchase classic cars and trucks that are finished, I redesign other people’s restorations and have also coordinated restorations from start to finish. I’m currently not doing full restorations as it takes too much time and money. I love what I do and I’m extremely passionate about it! Two years ago I opened a beautiful new facility located in Seekonk, MA. MS CLASSIC CARS is open to the public on Saturdays. We offer about 25 classic cars and trucks for sale. We also offer complete automotive detailing. Our facility is very neat and organized. When you call you deal directly with me. I appreciate the opportunity. We except all trades. If you’d like to be added to our VIP EMAIL BLAST that gets sent to thousands of people when we get a new addition please visit my website and sign up. Please also like us on Facebook for updates. The power of networking is amazing! Market I've been collecting classic cars and trucks for over fifteen years now and have seen a lot happen. I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only at the auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially the classics! I've learned it's not just the United States; it’s the entire world. Barrett Jackson stated, "Foreigners can sometimes represent 25% of the registered bidders at one of our auctions." At the Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ 2011 they stated, "There was a registered bidder from every state in the USA.” I've also learned that no matter the gender or age, all different people appreciate this hobby. Another example would be the Barrett Jackson auto auctions; not only do millions of people watch it live on the Speed Channel but hundreds of thousands of people attend these auctions. Every year the attendance of visitors at the event and number of viewers on T.V. increase. Over the years I've noticed that the extremely detailed classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Currently the overall market is on the raise once again. Certain classic cars are on the rise and others are on the decline. Typically, the classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people don't own. In other words, there are classic cars that haven't saturated the market. The cars that are at every car show and auction and page on the Internet for sale are the ones that aren't changing in value or are slowly on the decline. Of course, if the car is spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. It's all about supply and demand, not a good or bad economy. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character. “I’m putting my money where my mouth is” I’m just a 38 year old blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz. I was selling my classic cars and trucks part time. Although I had my used car dealers license I didn’t have a facility that was open to the public. Overall things were going just fine. However, my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership. I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership. I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen and now have a lot more overhead. Do you think I would’ve done all that if I didn’t think the classic car and truck market wasn’t going to remain strong? I consign anywhere from three to eight cars at each Barrett Jackson auto auction at no reserve because I know there’s always going to be bidders for classic cars and trucks. Short Description 1967 Pontiac GTO 400 H.O. 4-speed
EXTREMELY RARE SPECIAL ORDER SUNFIRE YELLOW PAINT. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE THE ONLY 1967 GTO PAINTED THIS COLOR FROM THE FACTORY!!!!
Believed 53,729 original miles based on title actual mileage documents and its multiple signs of originality.
This car runs and drives amazing with no rattles!
Copy of the original Colorado title with original envelope it came in!
Featured car in “The Legend” magazine volume 8 #2 in February 1990 explaining the entire story about the original owner purchasing this car and its options!
Complete PHS paperwork including a build sheet and reproduction invoice!
This car hasn’t been completely restored but refreshed over the years!
The exterior body is very nice and the gaps are tight. The hood, doors and trunk open and close tightly!
The correct (code #1) special order Sunfire Yellow paint is beautiful and in great condition. PHS documents special order paint cars but not the colors. It’s believed to only have been painted once during its life. This car could be “1 of 1” ever painted in this color. I’ve spoken to Jim Mattison who is the owner of PHS about this car and he said, “I’ve never seen a 1967 GTO painted in this color from the factory”.
The correct (code #2) black Cordova top adds the perfect touch!
The exterior glass, trim, bumpers, lights, emblems, etc is in very nice condition. Most of these items could be original. It appears the windshield has been replaced but the side glass appears original.
The car sits on 14” Rally wheels with Goodyear F70- 14 wide tread speedway redline tires. The wheels have recently been restored and look amazing!
The correct (code #223) black interior is also beautiful and in great condition. It appears to mostly original!
This car was ordered with a lot of unique interior options such as PB radio, power antenna, stereo tape, luggage lamp, lamp roof rail and reading, lamp ignition switch, seat belts, tach and gauges, console and floor mats. The original 8 track system is still in working order!
The trunk compartment is very clean and houses the matching Goodyear F70-14 redline spare tire!
The engine compartment is nicely detailed and home to the code (#WS) 4-bbl 400 H.O. Manual V8 with 360HP! This was the highest HP rating available in a 1967 GTO. This engine is correct but not original to the car as the sequence number indicates when you match it to the build sheet engine unit number. A lot of the engine parts are date coded late March which coincides with the build date on the build sheet of the car. These items could be original to the car. A breakdown of the engine numbers are listed below. The engine has recently been cosmetically cleaned and the Qudrajet carburetor has beencompletely rebuilt. It starts, runs and sounds beautiful!
The Muncie 4-speed transmission is the original matching numbers transmission as the numbers match the numbers on the build sheet. The transmission tail housing was replaced at some point. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The shifter was recently rebuilt by Hurst and the clutch with pressure plate was also rebuilt!
The power is transferred to though the 10 bolt rear-end. This car was originally equipped with a Saf-T-Track rear end which it appears to still have. I can barely read the numbers but have listed some numbers below!
The car came with power steering from the factory which it still has!
During the year’s power brakes and factory air conditioning was added!
The undercarriage is very clean and has recently been refreshed. This undercarriage isn’t show quality but very acceptable!
Recently many new parts were added such as a gas tank and fuel lines, new exhaust system and new brake shoes!
All of the exterior lights work, all of the windows roll up and down, all of the gauges work, the stereo and 8 track work, the power antenna works and the trunk light works. The only thing I’m going to have addressed is the map light and console light don’t come on when the passenger door is opened and the blower switch for the heat and AC isn’t working.
“I’ve been collecting and selling beautiful classic cars and trucks for over 15 years. I’ve owned a few Pontiac GTO’s but never a 1967. This 1967 GTO has a serious “Pop Factor” with its rare Sunfire Yellow special order paint, black Cordova top and redline tires. This car also has great history, documentation and options. Since it was never completely restored it still retains a lot of originality which makes it very seductive. If you’ve been searching for a 1967 GTO you really should consider this especially because it could be a “1 of 1” ever built. Imagine yourself cruising the open roads in this GTO as your sitting in the driver’s bucket seat with your right foot on the accelerator pulling power out of the 4-BBL 400 H.O. V8 and your left foot shifting through the gears. Even the 8 track system works in this car. This car has been priced very competitively and I don’t expect it to last. Get it before someone else does!”
The owner- Marc Schiliro Long Description MS CLASSIC CARS is proud to present a beautiful 1967 Pontiac GTO 400 H.O. 4-speed. As my website indicates I’ve collected and sold some beautiful classic cars and trucks over the last 15 years but I’ve never had a 1967 Pontiac GTO. The 1967 Pontiac GTO you’re about to witness isn’t just any GTO but a very special one. This car was not only car born with a 4-BBL 400 H.O. V8 with a 4-speed but it ordered with special order Sunfire Yellow paint! This could possibly be the only 1967 GTO painted this color from the factory.
Pontiac Historical Services, the build sheet and the trim tag confirm the car was ordered with special order paint but no records were kept of the special order colors. This car was featured in the well-known Pontiac magazine “The legend” in the February 1990 Volume 8 #2 issue. At that time it was owned by the original owner Jim Apple and the article tells the story about the entire car and special order Sunfire Yellow paint. A reproduction of Jim Apples sales invoice has also been done showing his 1964 Chevrolet 409 as a trade in. Listed below is the article from the magazine that tells the story. Also included with car is a copy of the original title with the original envelope it was mailed in! ARTICLE FROM “THE LEGEND” magazine: “When Jim Apple drove his 64 409 Chevy Super Sport to Porter Pontiac in Denver in July of 1967, it was to be his last drive in the Super Chevy. In the middle of Porter’s showroom floor was a special Sunfire Yellow 67 GTO hardtop, an before the day was over, Porter had another used car sitting on their lot while Jim was on his way home with his new 360 horse 400 H.O. GTO.
1967 was Pontiac’s most successful year to date, as sales penetration hit 9.98% of industry. Total GTO production was, however, off from the previous year. The 67 GTO carried basically the same sheet metal as the 66, but significant changes were made to the mechanics of the car. Gone was the legendary 389, and in its place was an incredible 400 cubic motor which put out 335 horses in the base form. Optional was the “Quadra-Power” 400, known to most as the H.O., which used the “068” cam and put out an advertised 360 horses. Also available was the awesome Ram Air 400, which was also advertised at 360 horses in spite of using the “744” cam. And for the first time in its history the GTO was offered with a 2-barrel economy 400 engine which put out 225 horsepower.
Jims original 67 shows off a variety of unique features, the most obvious of which is the special order paint. In 1967, it was possible to order any GM color for an additional charge (see Jim’s invoice on the following page). 1967 was also the first year for the optional 8-track player, seen mounted under the dash in Jim’s car just forward of the walnut gear shift knob. The ordering salesman at Porter Pontiac knew the right boxes to check for a true performance car and also ordered the limited slip rear, 4-speed transmission (which was more expensive than the optional H.O. engine), tach and gauges, and Rally wheels along with a slew of other creature comfort options. Opening the trunk reveals the actual, original redline tire which has barely touched the ground!
During our test drive of this incredible, all-original car not only did we find the power to be highly impressive, but the car is as solid and tight as it was the day it was delivered to Jim. The doors slam with a dull thud, the steering is tight and responsive and the car actually has that new-car feel to it.”
From all the information I’ve researched and gathered from PHS, titles and magazine here’s what I came up with. The car was shipped originally to Quality Pontiac in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 6, 1967. Dealerships swap inventory all the time and the car was traded to Porter Pontiac located in Denver, Colorado. James Apple purchased the car on July 29, 1967. He owned the car obviously through 1990 when the magazine article and photos were taken. The earliest title from 2000 indicates the car went to Florida and owned by James and Elizabeth Hunton. It appears they had the factory AC and head rests installed there. They sold it to Robert Stewart from Loveland, OH on May 5th, 2000. The actual mileage on the title read 51,171. Then the car was sold to Paul Dalessandro from PT. Charlotte, FL on September 10th, 2003. I was able to contact Paul and he said he purchased the car from a dealer in Texas which was in 2003 so it must have gone from Ohio to Texas between 2000-2003. He told me they lightly restored the car such as some minor bodywork and paint. Then Paul sold it to the gentleman I purchased the car from Virginia in October of 2004. He had the car for almost ten years!
During his ownership the car was always babied and kept in a climate controlled facility. He did the following things during ownership: 1.Cosmetic clean up and detail of the engine compartment.
2.Restored the original Rally II wheels.
3.Had the carburetor rebuilt.
4.Added new stainless steel exhaust.
5.Added new gas tank and stainless fuel lines.
6.Added new brakes shoes and flushed brake fluid system.
7.Added new clutch and pressure plate. Also had shifter rebuilt by Hurst.
When this GTO came to me off the trailer it was an instant attraction. The car reeked of originality. Matter of fact I questioned if the paint was original. This is one of those classic cars that appears to be very original and since I can’t contact all the owners I don’t know for sure what is and isn’t original. The best thing I can do is use my 15 years’ experience and give my opinion. Starting with the exterior the body is very nice and the gaps are tight. I was told the sheet metal is original and it appears to be. The hood, doors and trunk open and close solidly. This car was a special order paint color named Sunfire Yellow. The trim tag, build sheet and PHS paperwork indicate it was a special order color. It’s a very attractive color and might be the only 1967 GTO painted this color from the factory. Pontiac documented special order paint cars but not the colors. I was told the car was painted once and that appears to be accurate. The paint job is really nice and only minor imperfections. The paint is definitely worthy of calling it above average and would be considered show quality by many people. We’ve buffed the paint to a nice shine. The windshield looks like it has been replaced but the remaining glass have all the stamps and appear original. The stainless trim, door handles, emblems, bumpers, etc is in very good condition. I had the molding at the top of the driver’s door and rear quarter redone as there were a few dents and scratches.
The car sits on the original restored Rally II wheels with Goodyear F70x14 Speedway tires. The car is serious eye candy when driving by down the road. The correct (code #223) black interior is also beautiful and in great condition. I was told it was original and from my experience I would say it is or most of it is.
This interior just reeks of originality with a lot of patina. It’s like steeping back into time and sitting in the car at the dealership. Some classic car restorations just feel like restorations. This car feels original. The windows roll up and down smoothly. The headliner is tight and the original map lights work. This car was ordered with a lot of unique interior options such as PB radio, power antenna, stereo tape, luggage lamp, lamp roof rail and reading, lamp ignition switch, seat belts, tach and gauges, console and floor mats. The original 8 track system is still in working order! I lifted the rear seat and it appears all original underneath. The seat belts are original with the dates on the tags. The trunk compartment is very clean and houses the matching Goodyear F70-14 redline spare tire with what appears to be the original jack! The undercarriage is very clean and has recently been refreshed! It isn’t show quality but very acceptable. Recently many new parts were added such as a gas tank and fuel lines, new exhaust system and new brake shoes. This car runs and drives amazing with no rattles. The new owner will be very happy! Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter
Tue, Nov 25 2014A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.
Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
Junkyard Gem: 1986 Pontiac Sunbird Sedan
Sun, Jun 28 2020The J-Body platform was a giant seller for GM, staying in production from the first 1981 Chevrolet Cavalier all the way through that final 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. Outside of North America, Opels and Daewoos and Isuzus and Holdens and Vauxhalls and even Toyotas flew the J flag, and better than ten million rolled out of showrooms during that quarter-century. In the United States, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Buick, and Cadillac each sold J-Bodies. Of those, the Pontiac Sunbird often had the sportiest image, more cavalier than even the Cavalier Z24. I've documented a discarded Sunbird Turbo in the past, and now here's a bread-and-butter Sunbird sedan from the same era. The Sunbird name began its life in 1976 on the Pontiac-badged version of the rear-wheel-drive Buick Skyhawk, itself based on the Chevy Vega. The first J-Body Pontiacs had J2000 badges, then 2000 badges, then 2000 Sunbird badges, until finally the pure non-2000 Sunbird appeared for the 1985 model year. I remain disappointed that the 2000 name didn't survive into our current century, because we could have had a 2000 Pontiac 2000, or just the "2000 2000" for short. The base engine in the '86 Sunbird was this SOHC 1.8-liter four of Brazilian origin, rated at 84 horsepower. Originally developed by Opel in the late 1970s, this engine family went into cars built all across the sprawling GM empire. 84 horsepower doesn't sound like much— and it wasn't much, even by 1986 standards— but at least the original buyer of this car had the smarts to get the five-speed manual transmission. This car weighed just 2,336 pounds, a good 500 pounds lighter than the current Chevy Sonic, so performance with the manual transmission was tolerable. The '86 Sunbird's interior was much nicer than those in its Cavalier siblings, though nowhere near the Cadillac Cimarron's reading on the Plush-O-Meter. An AM/FM/cassette stereo with auto reverse was serious audio hardware in a cheap car during the middle 1980s, when even a scratchy factory AM-only radio cost the equivalent of several hundred 2020 bucks. The price tag of this car started at $7,495, or about $17,500 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible Cavalier sedan went for $6,888 in 1986, but a zero-option base '86 Cavalier would make you think you'd been transported to the Soviet Union every time you slunk into its harsh confines.
