Up for NO RESERVE auction is my 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible.  This is a real GTO that is documented with PHS paperwork that I have.

This car was restored 2-3 years ago.  It remains in excellent condition and runs and drives great.  This is a very nice car that really needs nothing, just get in and cruise.

I am listing the work that was done to this car during restoration by previous owner;

Body----- This is a real factory GTO as told by trim tag 5N option (ponitac,mi) build and PHS papers. Car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in Grenadier Red(original 64 GTO color)  The original color of this car was Sunfire Red.  The body is very straight and the paint the smooth and shiny.  I have kept it in a garage and covered. The panels line up very nicely and the gaps on the doors are nice and even.  The red paint is very nice and looks awesome in the sun.  The car has had new chrome and trim when restored and looks awesome.

Interior-----The original color of the interior was this same color, listed as Parchment on the PHS and trim tags--(really white)  It is been completely redone with a Legendary Interior Kit.  They are are best quality--It looks brand new, seats, door panels and carpet.  The metal dash and door tops are all freshly repainted and in great shape.  All gauges work, the factory style tach works and it has a new am/fm stereo with new dash speakers.  Original am radio goes with car.  All new correct wiring harness' under the dash and to the taillights.  The ORIGINAL PONTIAC steering wheel is pristine.  The horn is not hooked up.

Top----It is like brand new--beautiful white POWER top with new rubbers and new top cylinders.

Drivetrain---The car has a period correct Pontiac 400 Tripower with a 4spd trans.  The motor is rebuilt, as is the trans, new clutch.  The tripower runs great and LOOKS EVEN BETTER.  The car was originally a 389/4v auto car--the change was done many years ago.  Everything under the hood has been rebuilt or replaced, wiring, hoses, belts, chrome.  The motor.  Awesome redline tires with poverty caps are all new and steel wheels repainted.  This car has Power Steering, Power Brakes and Power top.

Suspension---All new and cleaned and rebuilt, springs, shocks, brakes and new exhaust with splitters.

Everything works except the horn--all lights, gauges.

This is a great cruiser that you can drive and not have to worry too much about.  The car has a couple of very, very minor chips from normal use--NO RESERVE

This 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 pace car could be yours

Fri, Jan 29 2021

Hopefully, the fans of GM's W-body '80s/'90s intermediates can forgive us, but we had pretty much forgotten — or had never really known — that one of the ways that era's Pontiac Grand Prix bathed itself in glory was by serving as the pace car for the Daytona 500. In fact, the Grand Prix paced NASCAR's marquee race every year from 1988 to 1992, and again in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2003. That first year, 1988, the Grand Prix was all-new, making its debut on the W-body platform. It was also Motor Trend's car of the year. The 1988 Daytona 500 marked the 17th year in a row that a Pontiac was chosen to set the pace but the first time a front-wheel-drive car was so honored. The '88 Grand Prix followed a spate of Pontiac Trans Ams. This '88 Grand Prix, for sale right now on eBay Motors, is presented as an actual pace car, although fans could order a complete set of pace car decals for their very own GP. The pace car is based on that year's top-spec Grand Prix, the SE. In place of the standard car's 2.8-liter V6, however, the pace car uses a modified 3.1-liter V6, which is hooked to a five-speed manual transmission. This Grand Prix is otherwise largely standard fare excepting the roof-mounted light bar, the switches for which are located next to the radio. The mechanical odometer tucked into the digital instrument cluster shows just over 5,000 miles, and presumably, not all of them were acquired on the high-banked oval. With four days to go in the auction, bidding sits at $4,000 with the reserve unmet. Although the reserve is unknown, one clue is that this Grand Prix had been listed by a classic-car dealership in Pennsylvania for $18,500. Besides the debut of the W-body Grand Prix pace car, the 1988 race is also notable for its final lap: Bobby Allison held off his son, Davey Allison, to take the checkered flag, with the father-son duo enjoying a 1-2 finish. Now, who wants to re-live those Grand Prix glory days? Get on your Pontiac and ride!   This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

Classic Pontiac Trans Am Firebird Super Duty 455 sells for nearly $90,000

Fri, Aug 25 2023

Historically, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am raised the performance levels a notch or two over a plain Firebird in the muscle car hierarchy of the Sixties. But the Super Duty 455 version of the Trans Am — that number represents the cubic inches of the hand-assembled V8 engine — moved the performance needle big time in 1974. So much so that a clean example of the machine sold recently on the Hagerty Marketplace auction site for $89,296. Advertised with just under 54,000 miles on the clock and having undergone a thorough restoration, the Buccaneer Red model was one of just 943 Pontiac Firebirds equipped with the Super Duty 455 package for the 1974 model year. That build had also been offered in 1973. The Hagerty listing drew more than 21,000 views and 39 bids. According to Hagerty's valuation report, a similar car would be worth $85,700 in good condition, and $103,000 if it was in ‘“concours condition.” The Super Duty motor borrowed technology from the lineÂ’s 366-cubic-inch NASCAR engine, and featured heavy-duty connecting rods and an entirely new block with a revised crankshaft and heads to deliver a claimed 310 horsepower. The Firebird that sold was indeed loaded, with a three-speed Hydra-matic transmission (which surely reduced its overall value), power locks and windows, AC, dual exhausts, heavy duty stabilizer bars all around, and a “custom Interior trimmed in Red perforated Morrokide vinyl upholstery.” The entry of PontiacÂ’s pony car in the U.S., facing off against the Mustang and Camaro, dates back to 1967, when it was offered with an inline six and optional V8. The first Trans Ams were introduced two years later, the name derived from a handling package. General Motors ceased production of new Pontiacs in 2002 owing to declining sales and losing stakes in the sports coupe market. The big 455-cid V-8 had disappeared years earlier.
