Up for auction is a 1964 Pontiac GTO Street Rod, it started life as a Lemans, but anyone that knows their' Pontiacs, knows that in 64 GTO was only a Lemans option and consisted of mainly emblems and a larger V-8 and hood. Other than that the  entire body is identical, which changed in later years, so all it needed was a hood, and emblems. Of course for the purists this car would not suffice, but I am not a purist and if you are this car is not for you. I am a Pontiac lover and Pontaic performance enthusiast and if you are , then you will find no better, this car took me 5 years to build, scrimping and saving, and used the best of the best, from the best Pontiac performance builders in the country. It has 580 miles on entire restoration that is 2 years old, garage kept, never seen a drop of rain. It started life as a very clean Lemans, the entire car was dissasembled, basically a frame off, and every panel was blasted and/or paint removed, every bolt removed and replaced, most with stainless steel, the rockers, fenders, doors, trunk, bumpers are all original and rust free, The quarters had a little rust around the wheel wells so we installed brand new full quarters,to factory seams, instead of patching. If you know 64 GTO's NOS hoods are very rare and no repros were mfg. so the hood is glass. We sprayed the entire car with epoxy primer, block sanded, shot the interior with semi gloss trim black and 3 stage exterior in a 2008 Lexus Brandywine Mica color, sanded and polished. The paint is pretty much pristine, except for a few fish eyes that could probably use a little massaging. The bumpers are all original with original chrome in nice shape. All the stainless trim and  grills are original and reworked, polished and painted by Paul's Chrome, except the windshiled trim is new repro. The interior consists of real nice original door panels, seats are reupholsterd original frames with 1965 GTO pattern, I know, not year correct but I liked the arrowhead pattern better, and new Ames black rug. The dash is new, gauge cluster is a John Covan carbon fiber deal with Auto Meter Cobalt, Speedo, Tach, Fuel, Water, Oil, Volts, special edition Grant wheel mounted to a tilt Ididit column, Blaupunkt CD 33 100 amp  head unit, Kenwood kick panel and rear deck 4 way speakers, with a trunk mounted Kenwood 350 watt amp. Now to the motor, the block is a 1970 455 filled block, drilled with splayed 4 bolt caps, bored and stroked to 474 cubic inch, fully balanced rotating assembly by Kauffman Racing wih all Crower components, oiling is handled by a Milodon Deep Sump Unit, pump is a Melling Kaufman unit pumping Rotella T 15/40 diesel oil, the cam is a mechanical solid unit custom grind by Jeff Kaufman with 607 lift with 1.65 stainless steel roller rockers and full lifter bracing, heads are Kaufman Aluminum High Port units that flow 320, intake is a port matched and opened up for the high ports, rare, original Doug Nash unit. Carburetion is a 950 cfm HP by Quick Fuel with custom jetting. Exhaust is Dougs Round Port Headers with aluminum coating,  Doug's Electronic Exhaust Dumps to instantly open the headers, entire exhaust out the rear is 3"stainless steel system by Pypes with X Pipe and Race Pro mufflers. Brand New stock fuel Tank with Jegs Weld On Sump and Earls Stainless Steel ball style shut off valves. Fuel pump is a Robb MC Billet 1100 HP mechanical pump with an electric back up dual stainless steel lined set-up and Robb MC Billet Fuel Filter. Coolant is handled by CSR Electric Water Pump and dual Camaro LT1 Electric Fans.Sparking is handled by Mallory HyFire VI and Accel DFI Coil, NGK spark plugs. Drivetrain consists of a Lakewood Explosion Proof Block Saver and Scatter Shield Bell Housing, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch powering an original tried and true (not a Richmond repro) beefed up Doug Nash 5 speed transmission, all new driveshaft and TRW universals, Lakewood Driveshaft Loop, 9" Ford Rear custom made by Spraker Racing with 3.25 gears, full posi and heavy, thick splined axles. Transmission gearing pretty much has the car in 4.11 ratio from 1st to 4th and 3.25 in 5th for an overdrive effect. Braking is Classic Performance all stainless steel drilled and slotted discs front and rear, with all stainless steel brake lines front to back and new dual master cylinder power unit., all new control arm bushings, ball joints, steering linkage. Wheels are 16"aluminum Centerline Dagger wheels, front tires are Kuyhmo Ecsta 225/55-16 fronts, Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials 255/50-16 on rear ( a must to try to keep it glued to the street) with all custom lowering spings and Air Lift bags for a nice low stance. This motor has not been dynoed, but a fellow Pontiac friend has pretty much the same set-up and he dynoed 607 HP, and let me tell you, it sure as hell feels like it, the motor comes out to be 11.5 to 1 compression ratio and will run with Premium Pump Fuel, although I mix in 110 Octane VP . There's probably more I'm forgetting, it's been a long road, I've used the best of the best to build this car and hate to sell it but can't afford to keep more than one and I have a new project going. I have well over $35,000 invested in this car and thats not including my labor, it's a head turner no matter where it goes, wins trophies at every show, never been to the track so hasn't been pounded, it's still fresh and ready to go. The only con I can give with this car is the few fish eyes I mentioned in the paint and the trunk leaks abt. a cup of water water when you wash the car, so you must remove the mat and wipe it dry during every wash, just never had time to track down the leak, maybe the weatherstrip was installed incorrectly, other than that pristine. If you decide to bid on my car, you won't be dissapointed, and good luck.

One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars could be yours

Fri, Apr 12 2019

LOS ANGELES — One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars is going up for auction in June along with some of his cowboy boots, hats, sports jackets and other items from his estate, Julien's Auctions said on Friday. The two-day auction in Beverly Hills, authorized by the actor's family, comes almost a year after the death at age 82 of the charming star who was one of Hollywood's favorite actors. The highlight of the auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am car that Reynolds used on photo shoots and drove on the Bandit Run cross country rally, which re-enacts the journey at the center of his 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit." The car, which Reynolds co-owned with his business partner Gene Kennedy, is expected to fetch up to $500,000 at auction, Julien's said in a statement. Two pairs of leather cowboy boots — one red and one yellow — are also offered for sale with estimates ranging from $800 to $2,000 a pair, along with two cowboy hats. Reynolds started out as a football player at Florida State University (FSU) before injuries suffered in a car crash wrecked his hopes of a professional career. But his attachment to FSU remained strong. The auction includes several custom or personalized FSU baseball, basketball and varsity jackets. Other highlights include an oil on canvas painting of the actor's favorite horse titled "Cartouche," which carries an estimate of $20,000 - $30,000. Other art works, furniture and dozens of personal items are also being offered for sale. The auction will take place in Beverly Hills on June 15 and 16, and will be preceded by a public exhibition of some of the items from June 10-14. Reynolds, who was also known for the 1960s television series "Gunsmoke" and the movies "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights,"" died of a heart attack in Florida in September 2018. Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds

Tue, Mar 29 2016

For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:

Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?

Mon, Aug 31 2020

UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
