PHS Documented included to buyer showing rare WS7 option! The Trans AM has a Clear “California Title” in my name and Registration is current! Has Original Blue and Yellow color License Plate!! There is No Rust located on the floor boards, wheel wells or trunk floor areas! Car is Rust Free!!! This is a nice and rare factory equipped “WS7” performance handling package. Only a certain number of Trans Am were produced with this suspension which is the same as the WS6 suspension except it does not have the rear disc brake brakes and was factory built with rear drum brakes. It does have the front disc brakes and performance like the WS6 suspension! I do have the PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) Documents listing this rare WS7 Performance Suspension and will be included to the buyer. The Trans Am has the original 403 CID Engine. The VIN Number stamped on the engine matches the VIN number on the dash!!!! (see photos of VIN numbers stamped on engine block). The engine runs nice and smooth with good power!! The engine has not been altered and is very original! I don’t know if it has the original miles stated on the odometer which reads 38,614. The Trans AM has all its smog required emissions and will easily pass the California Smog Test!!! (passed the smog test on March 2014 with no issues! I can supply a copy of the smog certificate if needed!!). The transmission is a Turbo Hydromatic 350 and possibly is the original transmission but I could not locate the VIN Number, so I will not say it’s matching numbers. The transmission shifts smoothly and has no problems! The Car was built in Van Nuys, California and has no rust! The front suspension has been rebuilt with new upper and lower control arm ball joints and bushings. Front sway bar link bushings were also replaced. Has new Rear leaf springs rubber pads installed!! New Front brake calipers and brakes! Rear brakes have been also replaced and are in good condition. New gas tank!! Rubber fuel lines have also been replaced! New Duralast Battery! New weather stripping installed! (doors close a bit hard due to new weather stripping and door hinges will also need to be slightly adjusted/replaced). The car has a very nice and Shiny “Star Light” Black Paint job with nice SE (special edition) Decals!!!!! The Trans AM was restored and painted approx. 3 years ago. The body is straight and free from dents and rust. There are no major dings on the Trans Am other than the normal road debris scratches. There is No Rust located on the floor boards, wheel wells or trunk floor areas! Car is Rust Free!!! Original 15X8 Inch wheels which have been polished!! All four wheels look like new!! All four Center Wheel Caps are in good condition!! Front tires are Goodyear Radial 245-60-15 and the rear tires are BFGoodrich 275-60-15. Car was stored for a while and tires might need to be replaced. Original Steering Wheel with functional horn!! Original front and rear seat frames. Seats have been reupholstered and are in like new condition! New black Headliner with no tears! T-Tops are in very good condition with no cracks! Clean door panels!! Has New Black carpet!! Nice clean Center Console and Shifter!! Original Dash Board in good condition but does have one crack going doing the top center of it (see picture). Original chrome trimming/moldings! Has all Emblems intact!! All Original and very clean Gauges with functional tachometer!! Factory Electric Clock! Original Factory Air Conditioning! Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac Grand Am LE with Quad 4 Engine
Wed, May 9 2018GM introduced the N-Body compact platform with the Oldsmobile Calais and Pontiac Grand Am for the 1985 model year and continued building N-based cars through 1998. Most of these cars weren't interesting from an enthusiast standpoint, but a handful rolled off the assembly line with raucous DOHC Oldsmobile Quad 4 engines and manual transmissions, and those cars were plenty of fun. Here's a 1991 Grand Am with that rare setup, photographed in a self-service yard in California's Central Valley. The base engine in the 1991 Grand Am was the 110-horsepower, 2.5-liter pushrod Iron Duke, an engine that might have been fine on a Romanian tractor in 1953 but had no place on an American street car as the 21st century approached. Fortunately, GM started bolting the modern 2.3-liter DOHC Quad 4 engine into 1988 cars, and this was a proper four-cylinder. The Quad 4 ran a little rough and uncivilized, and it had its share of reliability problems, but you could rev the piss out of it and it made good power. In 1991, this engine was rated at 180 hp. That made this 2,592-pound sedan pretty quick. Unfortunately, the slushboxization of America had progressed with depressing rapidity during the 1980s, and by 1991 most Grand Am buyers — even the ones who opted for the Quad 4 — chose the automatic transmission. That didn't happen with this car, though — it boasts a rugged Getrag 5-speed instead of the happiness-amputating three-speed automatic. Yes, that's the kind of odometer reading you'd expect to see on an Accord or Maxima from this era. Someone loved this car and took care of it. Here we see an interesting mix of 1980s and 1990s car-radio technology. CD players in cars were still costly luxury items in 1991, seldom seen in affordable cars like the Grand Am, while 1980s-style slider-style EQ controls were on the way out. This Delco unit straddles both decades nicely. I seek out Quad 4-equipped cars during my junkyard travels, and I have photographed quite a few: this '89 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Grand Am, this '91 Quad 442, this '93 Achieva SCX, and this '98 Cavalier Z24. It's a shame that Buick never put the Quad 4 in the Reatta, which was a fine car ruined by a somnolent and obsolete V6. The music in this ad is even more early-1990s than Crystal Pepsi. This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
