VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

VEHICLE HISTORY:   This car was originally sold through Barber Pontiac in Bakersfield, CA (original window sticker and delivery documents included).  It was one of the few Firebird Formulas that had been sent to SLP (Street Legal Performance) for the Firehawk performance conversion.   The sticker price was over $31,000!  The original owner drove it very little (average of 2,200 miles/year) and meticulously maintained it, with the oil changed every year.   He even kept a notebook detailing every oil change and maintenance performed on the car until he sold it in 2005 with only 43,000 miles.  The next owner, from Las Vegas, kept the car until 2007, and then sold it with 64,500 miles.  The current owner has driven it sparingly putting less than 1,500 miles on it in his seven years of ownership.

Only 671 Firehawks were produced for 1995; 536 were coupes and only 170 coupes were painted bright red.  This rare, high performance car is being sold to make room for some new acquisitions.  With the recent oil/filter service, coolant service, new water pump, new wiper blades, and good tires, this sharp and rare, red “hot rod” is all ready for some summertime cruising!

MARQUE HISTORY:  The fourth generation Firebird was produced from 1992 to 1997.  This one is the Formula Series with the SLP (Street Legal Performance) Firehawk R6V RPO code.  Fore more information and a video, check the links to the below websites.

VEHICLE CONDITION:

We do a mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale.  This report is included below will provide a reasonable description of the vehicle condition.  Older vehicles are subject to normal wear and tear and we have tried to indicate the overall condition of the vehicle to the best of our ability.  But, we can not always find everything that is not perfect with a vehicle, so independent inspections are welcome and encouraged.  We drive each vehicle approximately 20 miles, but this is no indication of its long term road-worthiness.  The only guarantee with an older vehicle is that someplace, sometime, something will need repaired!

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 2002 Pontiac Aztek

Sat, Apr 17 2021

The General's Pontiac Division sold the Aztek for the 2001 through 2005 model years, and — despite enjoying something of a cultural rebirth in recent years — it is generally considered to be one of the worst cars of all time. The idea of using a minivan platform as the basis for a rough-and-tough-looking crossover with plenty of outdoor-lifestyle amenities wasn't the problem, since many vehicle manufacturers have printed bales of money using that formula. What doomed the Aztek was its hideous appearance and sticker price too lofty for its underemployed-at-the-time Generation X target demographic. Still, the Aztek proved to be perfectly suited for the outdoor activities that Coloradans love: hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, hauling mud-caked golden retrievers around, etc., and so you'll still find lots of Azteks on the roads of the Centennial State. Here's an Aztek Yellow Aztek (yes, that's really the paint color's official title) residing just a few rows from a '76 Checker Taxicab in a Denver self-service yard. Sure, it does look like a vehicle built to the specifications of a six-year-old who decreed a mashup between a Datsun F-10 and a Fisher-Price Little People Travel Together Airplane, but so what? There's a built-in air compressor to blow up your inflatable rafts and volleyballs, a tent attachment that turns the rear of the van into a camper, 12-volt power plugs all over the vehicle (years before this became commonplace on ordinary minivans and SUVs), and running-gear commonality with a jillion Ventures, Silhouettes, Montanas and Trans Sports. Buick managed to de-uglify the Aztek (somewhat) and sold it as the Rendezvous through 2007, but the Aztek never could win over many people with this face. I see plenty of Azteks and Rendezvouses in Denver-area wrecking yards, and I've documented a handful over the years. This one came fully loaded from the factory, with the Corvette-style heads-up display in full effect. The center console was a removable cooler, which was a great idea Â… except for the fact that this cooler holds five standard 12-ounce cans. Michigan residents tell me that this must have been intentional on the part of the Detroit-based Aztek designers, because Michiganders are expected to chug one beer out of a sixer as they walk from the liquor store to the car in the parking lot Â… which makes me extra cautious whenever I'm driving in the Wolverine State.

BMX rider flips for wrecked Detroit football stadium

Fri, Jun 12 2015

Detroit is littered with derelict ruins. Abandoned automotive assembly plants, sure – but also former sports venues, like Tiger Stadium in Corktown, Roesink Stadium in Hamtramck, and the Silverdome in Pontiac. BMX rider Tyler Fernengel remembers going to see the Lions and Pistons play at the Silverdome in his youth, and competed there in Supercross as a boy. The stadium hasn't been used in years, but now, with his career just picking up, Tyler has returned to film this video – riding through its halls, jumping its stairwells and flipping over its grandstands and field. It's a fitting tribute to a once-great venue of suburban Michigan. Check out the footage in this latest clip from Red Bull.
