455 Horsepower 2001 Trans-Am WS6 Heavily Modified With Paperwork and Custom Dyno Tune. For sale today is an extremely clean, heavily modified 2001 WS6 Trans Am. This car only has about 7-13k miles on it since its complete drive train overhaul from July of 2012 until January of 2013. Since then its also had alot of tasteful modifications which will be listed below. The motor has a nice cam set-up that's been on the car for about 13k miles, at which point the head gaskets, seals, timing chains and so on were replaced. The Transmission, clutch, rear differential and gears were replaced at 77k miles by Maryland Performance Center in Fredrick Maryland from 7/12 until around 1/13, where everything else on the car was inspected as well. The exhaust was modified from front to back and fitted with custom 02 fittings so that it still passes emissions. Also has an electronic cut out for those who like it a little louder with american racing headers, custom catted Y pipe and Magnaflow exhaust. MPC also gave the car a custom dyno tune, at which point the car was recorded putting down 455hp at the crank and 390hp at the rear wheels. All in all the drive train from front to back only has 13k miles (motor) and around 8k miles on the transmission, clutch, and rear end. The sound system in it is amazing, with a custom Kenwood head unit as well as aftermarket speakers, MTX sub and JL Audio amps to give it crisp clean sound. PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS (take in mind these area all costs WITHOUT installation costs) Futral F13 Cam Package With New Timing Chains, Head Gaskets, Seals Ect. $450.00 Maryland Performance Custom Dyno Tune. $500.00 Ram Stage 2 600 ft/lb HD Clutch Kit w/ flywheel. $951.00 Tick adjustable clutch master cylinder. $350.00 T-56 6 speed manual transmission conversion. $2,780.00 Eaton posi rear differential. $400.00 Motive 4.10 gears with master bearing kit. $427.98 LPW ultimate differential cover. $179.95 Axel Seals with 80w90 gear oil. $70.85 MGW short-throw system with Hurst Knob. $209.00 American Racing Headers. $300.00 High-Flow catted y-pip with custom 02 sensor locations. $120.00 Magnaflow Cat-back system with electronic cut out switch. $940.00 UMI performance rear control arm kit. $189.99 Bilstein Shocks all around with FEA. $475.00 Drilled and Slotted Rotors. $300.00 Lightweight aftermarket Firehawk Style Large Cowl Ram Air hood with custom carbon fiber ram air box. $825.00 SOUND SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS KIV-BT900 Kenwood Bluetooth smart headunit with 3" display. $369.00 Custom Back-lit WS6 Display casing for headunit. $80.00 JL Audio Amplifiers ( one 500/2, two 300/1). $1,100.00 10" MTX Subwoofer with Enclosure. $130.00 TOTAL WITHOUT LABOR ------ $ 11,314.00 OTHER MODS Super-bright headlamp kit with matching fog lights and signal markers. $170.00 (signals go from crystal white to yellow when turning or hazards are on, see video!!!) As you can see, alot of time and money has been poured into this car. Its not easy to find a clean F body with reasonable mileage on it, but this car has less that 13,000 miles on the suspension and complete drive-train from front to back. My asking price is what they go for stock, without over $11,000 in parts that are into this car and close to another $5,000 easily in labor to have it all installed. I have you tube videos as well with a walk-around of the car and the exhaust. The first video of the walk around has the cut-out for the exhaust open, and the second video from the back of the car has the cut out closed and running through the dual magnaflows. The cut-out switch is located in the ash tray hidden from plain sight and can be open or closed while stopped or driving with the flip of the switch. The first video also shows the hazards on so you can see the lights switching in the front from clear to orange. Videos Below Walk around...cutout open youtube.com/watch?v=3vfkN90qDSo Exhaust from rear with cutout closed youtube.com/watch?v=llPYrnZ9k_c&list=UUf-xshr8LBOSlEAVF6gDG3g&feature=c4-overview All in all, the car is extremely clean and shows how well its been taken care of. This is a true coded WS6, check the pictures for the vin and door codes. The car runs great and sounds absolutely wicked. It does not have any body damage at all and the interior is as clean as it looks. It doesnt have the typical door panel cracks or interior cracks that most come with and it also doesnt have any of the typical "door sag" that the F-bodys are know for having because of the weak fiberglass where the door hinge mounts to the door. The drives side door had a weakspot on the bottom mount from the fiberglass drying out a few years ago so it was replaced with a stronger newer version offered by GM, there are plenty of threads about this all over F-body forums and most people try slopping fiberglass all over it to fix it but this was done the right way by replacing the defective unit. A video is listed below to help illustrate the issue F body Fiberglass door issue (mine was replaced OEM) youtube.com/watch?v=Nvi7y-R0owg Like I said, most people attempt to re-fiberglass the themselves to save the money but the only way to ensure the issue is resolved is to replace the unit professionally. This car was never a car that anyone cut costs on, as seen above. The car runs fantastic, it has no check engine lights or warning signs, oil pressure and temperature are absolutely perfect and it can be driven wherever you want to take it. The paint is amazing for its age and even though its cloudy in the pics, you can still see the blue-purple tint it has when the light hits it. Its got tons of GO-FAST goodies but was never tracked or raced. The car is in really good condition for being a 13 year old car. Nothing on this car was half assed or back yard mechanic'd. The most recent mod was the Bilstein Shocks all around with an alignment. The interior like I said is in great shape with no rips in the seats or holes in the carpet. Firestone tires on factory WS6 chromes that shine nice and have a touch of rash on the lip but they are in great shape. The clutch is also adjustable so it can be set to your liking or driving style. The car also has a CLEAR TITLE registered in MD which is signed by the previous owner and can be transferred to the new owner upon payment with a bill of sale as well. I bought the car with hopes of taking it with me to my new home but my house failed inspection and I have to fork out money on a septic system and heating units before I can close on it. I have Dyno sheets from Maryland Performance in Fredrick as well as receipts for the Transmission, Clutch, Flywheel, Gears, Diff cover, 02 relocation so on and so fourth. Every thing else thats listed can be found quite easily with part numbers to see that the costs on this car are in fact very, very real. Please consider that the upgrades on this car are pretty close to what im asking just by themselves, WITHOUT LABOR!! This is a modified F-Body Trans Am WS6 thats pretty much only got 13k miles on everything but the body, which only has 87k on it itself. The t-tops do not leak and it has zero rust issues. Also has tinted glass t-tops and windows. Any questions feel free to email me at threewheeler@live.com or you can reach me via ebay message. Please make serious offers and feel free to see the car in person before doing so. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF PURCHASE. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!! This junkyard '91 Grand Am is as hooptie as it gets
Wed, Jun 29 2016I spend a lot of time in junkyards. A lot of time. With all this experience, I have learned to recognize a perfect hooptie when I see one, a car whose final owner got every last bit of use out of it when its value was hovering right about at scrap value. This 1991 Pontiac Grand Am that I spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard a few days ago, from the final model year for the third-generation Grand Am, checks all the hooptie boxes just right. First of all, it's a low-option coupe with the wretched and unloved GM Iron Duke engine, a rattly, gnashy, thrashy 2.5-liter four-cylinder kludged together using off-the-shelf parts from the Pontiac 301-cubic-inch V8 during the darkest years of the Malaise Era and used in cars whose buyers just didn't care. Most of the paint has been burned off by 25 years of harsh California sun, but the car spent sufficient time in a damp, shady spot for lichens to build up here and there. There are skeletons-with-sombreros stencils sprayed here and there, plus a big moonshine-guzzling skeleton mural painted on the hood. Goodbye, property values! Still, someone felt some affection for this car, giving it the name "Good Ol' Snakey" and painting that name on the decklid. We can assume that the Iron Duke was a bit loose by this time, probably leaving a serpentine trail of blue smoke behind the car at all times. So, the combination of cheapness, ugliness, menace, and who-gives-a-damn functionality make this Grand Am an excellent example of a pure hooptie. Within a couple of months, it will be crushed, shredded, shipped out of the Port of Oakland, and reborn in China as refrigerators and Geely Emgrands. Somewhere in Northern California, though, a few of Ol' Smokey's friends will remember this car fondly.
NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem
Thu, Feb 13 2014General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed.
