I'm selling a 1996 Firebird Formula Convertible for my sister.  The Formula has a new top installed about a year and a half ago and has the 5.7 LT1 V8 with headers and a Flowmaster exhaust that sounds awesome.  It has been tuned by Garret Tunning for better fuel economy and more power as well as operating the fans at a lower temp so the car runs cooler.  The car has a brand new ignition system including the optispark.  It has a posi disc rear.  The tires are new on the back and the tires in the front have 50% tread.  This is a very clean car with low miles.  The car is only being sold because of her growing family.  The hing on the center console lid is broke off and there are is some spiderwebbing of the paint on the front and rear bumper, both issues are very common with these cars.  Feel free to email with any questions.  The auction may be ended early as the car is listed locally as well.  Thank you for viewing my ad.

On Aug-24-13 at 20:24:50 PDT, seller added the following information:

The ac blows but is not cold.  Everything is there, it may just need recharged.  The passengerside window woks most of the time but sometimes will only go up and down a couple inches at a time.  The actual mileage on the car is 72,XXX miles even though it's listed at 77,900.  The car was in our family for several years.  When my sister purchased the car from my father, they inadvertanly reported several thousand more miles than it actually is when changing the title. Rather than send in a correction and risk a mileage discrepancy with the title, they left it as it was.  It's not a big deal, but I want to be clear.

We have decided to list the car without a reserve.  The car really needs to go as my sister is unable to keep another car at her new home.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
