1996 Pontiac Firebird Base Coupe 2-door 3.8l (mechanic Special) on 2040-cars
Livermore, California, United States
Blessings!
Are you interested in Firebirds? I got this one at auction, put a new fuel pump in it. Have had a mechanic working on the Engine, seems like he almost has it, but I am out of cash and need to sell it. :: Motor - V6, 3.8L Engine :: Transmission - Manual, 5 Speed :: Drivetrain - Rear Wheel Drive :: ABS - Automatic Braking System :: Air Conditioning :: CD player :: Power Windows :: Power Door Locks :: Tilt :: Cruise Control :: Dual Air bags :: new paint job :: near perfect body :: Low Miles ~ 130k :: Reg paid ~ 6 months ago :: Needs a smog (most likely) :: Bill of sale in hand :: Will go to DMV w you in petaluma for title transfer What it needs: - needs a window regulator (we pulled the old one, drivers side, you need to swap and put the door panel back on) - It probably needs attention on the motor. I had someone rebuild it, and it seems like it may just need a new ICM wiring harness. If were wiggling the connectors and holding them it fires up and runs, when we let go of them the motor cuts out. - It needs a good cleaning inside/dusty - This is what I noticed driving it to my garage from the auction, we changed the water pump even.. I just don't know the car well enough to know if it needs anything else. |

Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken
Fri, Feb 8 2019Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected
Tue, 20 May 2014General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years
Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion
Fri, May 27 2016The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata.
