1996 Pontiac Firebird 6 Cyl With T-tops!!! on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
Up for auction is a 1996 Pontiac Firebird with T-tops and a 6 cylinder engine. This car is beautiful inside and out and it runs great. The car starts right up (it has a brand new battery), the automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the engine has lots of power. This car is in great mechanical condition-- I brought it to Tom's Auto in Barnhart last week to have it looked over before selling it, and Tom said the car is in great shape. The brakes and tires are in good condition and the paint job on the car looks really good. I've driven the car to Chicago multiple times so it's traveled long distances without any issues. This car turns a lot of heads when you drive it around town, especially if you take the T-tops off. The interior of the car is in great condition as well-- it feels like you're stepping into a new car. There are 142,001 miles on the car, and I do not drive the car during the winter (I put it in storage). In addition to the photos, I made several videos of the car. Here is a link to a video of: the car's engine starting http://youtu.be/tUtAnYV4k28 the car's exterior http://youtu.be/58xKc65pU_4 the car's interior http://youtu.be/WJODmI5WKvA driving the car http://youtu.be/vJKzBV3ZW2c the car's T-tops http://youtu.be/qgxhnvkJxLg the car's trunk http://youtu.be/yZMkQwMYC68 As you can see from the pictures and video, this car is clean inside and out and runs great. I purchased a new stereo about a year ago so the volume buttons on the steering wheel are no longer linked to the volume on the stereo (instead, you use the volume buttons on the stereo itself). The car has cruise control, power windows, power door locks, ABS brakes, and there is a spot in the trunk where you can slide the T-tops into place when you take them off. If you want a nice sports car that will turn heads and run great, this is it. The car is parked in my driveway in Barnhart, Missouri and you are welcome to come out for a test drive before the auction is over. Barnhart is located about 30 minutes south of downtown St. Louis, near a town called Arnold, Missouri. Just send me a message on eBay and we can arrange a time for you to come out and see the car. I am sad to see this car go, but my wife's student loans have come due and I no longer have the luxury of owning a cool sports car. I hope the person who wins the auction enjoys the car as much as I did! It is a lot of fun to take the T-tops off on a nice summer day and go for a cruise around town. Note: If you win the auction, I ask that you get in touch with me within 24 hours to arrange to pay for the car and pick it up. |

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate
Thu, Mar 21 2019It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.

Wed, Jan 19 2022Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability is subject to change. No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze. Normally when we write about Omaze sweepstakes, they involve a car that you'd never go out and buy on your own. A six-figure camper van build, a $300,000 Ford Bronco restoration, a Land Rover Defender that's so beautiful it should be in a museum. Today's prize might beat out all of those, because not only could you win a dream car, you'll be entered for a chance to win $100k cash to go along with it. There are a lot of cars you can buy with $100k. You could buy a Land Cruiser Heritage Edition or a Mustang GT500 or 6 Chevy Sparks and start your own racing series. Personally, if I won that kind of dough, assuming I also won this Bentley Bentayga, my favorite of Omaze's current offerings, I'd probably use some of it to buy something quirky, like a Honda Element converted into a pop-top camper, or a restored/upgraded 60 series Land Cruiser. Think that's a terrible way to spend the cash? That's the beauty of it. It is completely up to you. No one can tell you what to do with it. Except maybe your spouse. Here are our favorite vehicle giveaways we’ve found online this week: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition - Enter at Omaze Regardless of what you think about Ford using the name Mustang for an electric crossover, one thing is for certain, the Mustang Mach-E GT is an impressive piece of machinery. Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
