1989 Trans Gta on 2040-cars
El Dorado, Arkansas, United States
1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA WS6. 45k original miles. The car was purchased by a friend in 2008 out of Houston Tx with 36K miles, all original. He added popular bolt-ons including; cold air intake, SLP intake, Mac headers, 3" exhaust with Flowmaster muffler, Hypertech chip, and Gear Motive 3.70 gears( with electronic speedo calibrator and verified 100% accurate by GPS). I purchased the car from him in November 2012. Since I've owned it, I have had the headlight motors rebuilt, hatch pull down motor rebuilt, rear spoiler replaced( with Hawks fiberglass unit) and had the top surfaces of the car repainted ( due to thinning of the center sections of the roof and hood and cracked rear original spoiler). The car still has original paint on all other surfaces and is glossy and mint. The wheels are scratch, rash, and oxidation free and as NEW. The interior is MINT with the ONLY exception being a very slight wear on the upper portion of the steering wheel. The undercarriage, engine compartment and fender wells are extremely clean. The car runs and drives as it did when new. Last summer I drove it on the Hot Rod Power Tour with the AC blasting ice cold and NO issues what so ever. EVERYTHING works as it should (headlights, hatch pull-down, electronics, power
antenna, factory stereo, power mirrors, steering wheel controls, ect) I would like it to go to a new owner who appreciates it. If you have any questions please feel free to call anytime. 870-814-0639

Motorweek looks back at the Pontiac Aztek
Thu, Jul 9 2015The Pontiac Aztek has earned a position as this generation's ultimate, automotive punchline. Even other execrable models like the Yugo or Mustang II probably get more respect these days just out of their sheer quirkiness, but the Aztek remains a joke. Fortify your mind for what's coming, though, because the much-maligned Pontiac might not be quite so atrocious, at least according to MotorWeek's latest Retro Review video. MotorWeek calls the Aztek, "GM's first true crossover vehicle," and it's amazing to think of the hated model as a progenitor of one of the most popular segments today. While admitting that the looks are polarizing, John Davis and company actually come away pleased with the Aztek's utility. They praise that there's a ton of room in the back, and the interior is packed with useful features like a removable cooler in the center console and radio controls in a cargo area. The show is even impressed with how the Pontiac drives and throws around accolades like "nimble" and "pleasant." After seeing the Aztek leading the pack on lists of the worst vehicles of all time for years, listening to it get such effusive praise is actually quite jarring. Could we all be so wrong? No, there's absolutely no debate that this is still a hideous automobile. However, MotorWeek asserts a complete reversal of the generally perceived wisdom about the early CUV. While unexpected, thinking about such an abhorred model in a different way is a cool experience. Check out the video for a different take on the Aztek.
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
