1980 Pontiac Firebird New Paint 99% Rust Free California Car Great Transam Clone on 2040-cars
Paducah, Kentucky, United States
1980 Pontiac Firebird this car was built in van nuys California and sold new at Dan Day Pontiac in Fresno California. I have the original build sheet. I bought this car 6 months ago to restore but since ive bought a GTO project and this is why im selling the Firebird. This car shows 94xxx miles and was told its original but I cant prove that. This car still has the original v6 3.8 engine that has all smog and a/c still in place the engine and transmission run very good and the front end is tight the car sits well also I believe the miles are correct. I took this car to the metal and painted it Silver I painted jams inner cowl inside trunk I took the whole car apart and painted it. This car is solid as a rock no rust in floors or rockers or frame rails quarters anywhere, I fixed a few dents but no rust. This car would make a great Trans Am clone or V8 sleeper. Im not a pro car still needs color sanded and you will find imperfections and sand scratches but if the paint job was perfect it would cost more then the car. I installed new weather stripping new carpet new door sill plates. I put new grilles a new rear window hat board I also resealed the rear window. The car was original brown with camel interior the Rally II wheels are the factory wheels that came with the car. Ive had many F Bodys and for those who know these cars its rare to find a car that has no rust and still has every body panel it was born with. This car still needs some interior work as seen in the pics. Im selling this car NO/RESERVE!!!!
Things I know the car needs
The rear brake shoes are metal to metal and the emergency brake is froze.
It has valve covers that leak typical.
The heater controls do not work heater core is hooked up.
Dome light doesn't work no radio.
Tires are bad.
Things I know work
Gas gauge
horn, all lights on outside except two marker lights.
Tilt steering column is tight car has roll up windows work fine.
Wipers work car has idiot lights.
The console glove box is not shown in pics I have it but its broke like most.
The window chrome is not installed I have it and its in good shape I didn't have any clips to reinstall.
You could make a daily driver out of this car with not much work or you could take this car to the next level and have a super nice car. Great Trans Am or LS swap sleeper or leave it as a Firebird you rarely see a nice Bird anymore. I was going to put the T/A birds on it and leave it be myself. Im sure ive forgot something feel free to call or text Billy 270-564-3996 if your serious. Please no 0 or negative feedback bidders I will cancel your bid. This car will sell no matter what it brings. Serious bidders only no deadbeats please. I cant express how solid this car is.

This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum
Tue, Aug 27 2019Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles. The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
This KITT replica sold at auction for $32,500
Thu, Apr 23 2020UPDATE: This 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica officially sold for $32,500. Here's hoping the new owner has a blast throwin' it into Pursuit Mode. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: This isn't a perfect KITT replica. The original KITT used in the Knight Rider TV series was based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The one you see above, which is currently for sale at auction site Bring A Trailer, is a 1987 model, and since it's a GTA edition, it has some extra body cladding that the smooth-sided television car lacked. That aside, most casual observers would probably never notice the difference, and even those who did (like us) are still likely to be impressed by the car's transformation. This KITT replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It ought to be fairly quick, though quite a bit shy of the fictional car's very fictional 300-mph top speed. We're not exactly Knight Rider experts, but some quick Google sleuthing suggests that the Knight Industries Two Thousand supposedly cost more than $11,000,000 to build in Hollywoodland. This one will surely command a significantly lower sum — as of this writing, it's been bid up to $18,000 with four days remaining on the auction. This content is hosted by a third party. There are several videos of the car that detail its modifications inside and out, but suffice it to say it seems to be a well-sorted replica. Here's hoping its new owner keeps it well clear of other KARRs. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
Fiero-based Zimmer Quicksilver was objectively terrible, but we'd totally drive it
Wed, Jan 19 2022Now here's something you don't see everyday. It's listed in our classified ads as a 1986 Pontiac Fiero, but as you can see, that description is a bit misleading. In fact, it's a Zimmer Quicksilver, which was indeed built atop the guts of a mid-engine Fiero coupe but was heavily modified by the Zimmer Motorcars Corporation at a facility in Pompano Beach, Florida. And the one you see here actually seems to be a pretty decent deal for a highly unusual car. We're not sure what was a more popular starting point for kit and custom cars in the 1980s and 1990s, but it would have to be either the Fiero or the vintage air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle. Fiero-based machines usually mimicked the design direction of any number of highly desirable Italian stallions, most commonly, we'd guess, the Lamborghini Countach. The Quicksilver is an altogether different animal, with over a foot of extra wheelbase added in front of the A-pillar to make for a dramatic, long and low silhouette that somehow still only has barely enough room for two passengers in its leather- and wood-lined interior. A stock 2.8-liter V6 engine from General Motors is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission that sends 140 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. Period road tests found the 0-60 run took a little over 10 seconds, which is terrible today but wasn't all that bad for the mid '80s. Best we can tell, only around 170 Quicksilvers were made between 1984 and 1988, which are, not coincidentally, the same years that Pontiac produced the Fiero. The 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver you see here is priced at $18,495 and shows well under 30,000 miles on the odometer. There aren't a lot of Zimmer Quicksilvers currently for sale for us to compare, but the ones we did find that had sold within the last few years suggest a little under $20,000 is a reasonable asking price. It could be a fun and offbeat addition to the garage, and if nothing else, you're not likely to see another one at your local car show. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
