3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!! Up for bids is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Esprit. This car was bought new by a gentleman in 1978 and handed down to his son with them being the only two owners till I got it recently. It was put in storage when the son went into the service and has been off the road for several years. This car is in pretty decent condition for the year. It has the 305 engine with an automatic trans. The car ran shifted and drove fine when it was stored so a little TLC should put it back on the road with no problem. The engine runs if you pour gas in the carb so I figure the fuel pump is bad or the carb needs cleaned. The oil pressure comes up when cranking it over so it should fire right up with just a little work. All the glass is good on the car. As far as the body goes its not to bad for a 78 model. The car was repainted several years ago and some of the clear coat is coming off in several places. As far as rust ive tried to add pics of where it is. The hood is good, front bumper cover is nice as is the rear bumper cover also, no cracks or tears at all, maybe a small nice or two. The front fenders have a small amount of rust on the bottoms but not to bad. Doors are extra nice with no rust. The quarter panels are rusted in front and behind the rear wheels. There are pics of them showing the rust. It needs a metal patch in a couple places but patch panels are pretty cheap. Don't think theres any holes around the wheel well, just a little surface rust in a small place or two. Theres some surface rust places on one side of the rear window, think its the drivers side, pics of that also. The trunk lid is solid as well as around the tail lights. The trunk needs some work on the drivers side above the frame rail where they all rust away. Its only on the drivers side, pass side is good. The rear lower pan behind the rear bumper needs replaced as that's another bad place that they all rust. Where the spring mounts to the frame is good, no problem there at all, just the small side section of the trunk floor. Underneath the floor on the passenger side is in good condition. On the drivers side theres a hole underneath the back seat, looks as if a big drain panel is missing and it started to rust around it but its not real bad, about a 4 x6 in hole. The front drivers floor board is bad just in front of the seat but think the rest of it is useable. Some of the interior is very good and some of it needs work. The dash pad is very nice as is the console. The seat bottoms and one back is bad, one seat back is good. The door panels are very nice except for the small chrome strip is peeling a little. The headliner looks good but is hanging down some, think it can be redone easily.Carpet needs replaced also. This car has been in the dry guys, not sitting out in the weather. The car has a tilt wheel and its in great condition, very tight. Tires are good and all the wire wheel covers are there in pretty good condition. Im not sure but think there a factory item as they have the Pontiac logo in the center. That's about all I know to tell you about this car. If you have questions let me know and I will get back to you asap. This is a very nice car to restore or just get it running a little better and make it a daily driver. The black on black would be very sharp when done. The buy it now price is very fair for this car so don't miss out. The car has a clear VA title ready to go. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding to reassure me you will complete the transaction should you be the winning bidder. Also, I reserve the right to end the auction early as its for sale locally also. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all positive. That tells you that your dealing with an honest ebayer so bid with confidence, I tell it like it is. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this great 1978 Pontiac Firebird. REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!! Delivery may be possible depending on your location.
On Oct-18-13 at 07:53:02 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE on the Firebird 10/18/13. Got the car running today, engine sounds good but will need a tune up im sure. It starts up and idles fine with no noise. The trans went into drive but not reverse, was told maybe a valve sticking since it sit so long and a fluid and filter change with some type of additive may cure it. I was told the trans worked fine when parked. You be the judge, just want to be honest about the whole deal so theres no questions when the bidding is over. My feedback is 100% positive and want to keep it that way so if you have questions please ask before bidding. Thanks!! |

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two
Sun, Jun 19 2016We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.
GM Recalls 1.5 Million Cars For Steering Defect
Tue, Apr 1 2014General Motors Co. said Monday it is recalling 1.5 million vehicles worldwide because the electronic power-steering assist can suddenly stop working, making them harder to steer. The new recall brings to 6.3 million the number of vehicles GM has recalled since February. The initial recall - now at 2.6 million small cars for an ignition switch defect - prompted the automaker to name a new safety chief and speed up the review of cases that might lead to recalls. GM said it expects recall-related costs to total $750 million in the first quarter, including $300 million for the ignition switch recall. Included in the new recall are: - Chevrolet Malibu from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006, 2008 and 2009 model-year cars. - Chevrolet Malibu Maxx from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006 model-year cars. - Chevrolet HHR from the 2009-2010 model years (non-turbocharged only). - Some Chevrolet Cobalts from the 2010 model year. - Some Saturn Auras from the 2008-2009 model years. - Saturn Ion from the 2004-2007 model years. - Pontiac G6 from the 2005 model year, plus some cars from the 2006, 2008 and 2009 model years. - Service parts installed into certain vehicles before May 31, 2010, under a previous recall GM says no deaths related to the defect have been reported. It is still investigating whether there have been any accidents or injuries related to the problem. GM dealers will replace the power steering motor and other parts for free. Spokesman Alan Adler said owners will be notified of the recall the week of April 28 and will be told when parts are available after that. The Cobalt and the Ion, which are also involved in the ignition switch recall, share many common parts.GM recalled Cobalts from the 2005-2010 model years for the power steering defect in 2010, but it's unclear why the company didn't recall the Ion at the same time. Federal regulators also opened an investigation into power steering complaints in the Ion in 2010, but didn't order a recall. Pontiac Aztek rises from the ashes of infamy in Firebird Trans Am guise
Thu, Apr 9 2020What if the Pontiac Aztek, one of the most widely ridiculed vehicles ever built, was reimagined with a little flair from one of the former brand’s more legendary cars? Well, it turns out that someone not only came up with that idea, but followed up on it. And so, we present to you the Pontiac Aztek Firebird Trans Am, uh, trim package? ItÂ’s not real, of course, but it comes from Abimelec Arellano, an Hermosillo, Mexico-based car designer with too much time on his hands who goes by the name Abimelec Design. Arellano redesigned the midsize SUVÂ’s wimpy front fascia to surprising success by simply adding widened fender flares and perhaps modernizing the headlights. He also went all-in embracing the AztekÂ’s abrupt, flattened rear end by removing the rear bumper lip, adding a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler to boot. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Elsewhere, the dominating and cheap-looking gray plastic under-cladding is gone in favor of body-color panels. Arellano also added some probably larger Pontiac Snowflake wheels with gold accents that really make them pop and play well against the signature Firebird decal dominating the hood. Commenters generally fall into one of two buckets. As one put it, “I never thought the Aztek could look this good.” Others implored Arellano to do a version with a T-top. Or as one Autoblog editor put it, “So it turns out the reason the Aztek was a laughingstock failure is that it didnÂ’t come in a Smokey and the Bandit Edition. Somewhere, a dude who got shouted down in a product-planning meeting years ago is vindicated.” Sold between 2001 and 2005, the Aztek arguably reached the pinnacle of its notoriety as the metaphor for the drab, underachieving life of Walter White in AMCÂ’s meth drama, “Breaking Bad.” It came equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 that made 185 horsepower and sent it through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels, with an all-wheel drive version also available. The Aztek may have the last laugh, especially if it gets a screaming chicken. “The fact it was a controversial design and didnÂ’t sell well will make it an object of curiosity from a historical standpoint many years from now,” McKeel Hagerty, president and CEO of classic-car insurer Hagerty Insurance, told Autoblog back in 2016.
