1974 Pontiac Firebird Formula Coupe 2-door 6.6l on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
Up for sale is my 1974 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350. The car was originally a 350 2bbl 3 speed manual car. It now has a brand new 400 4bbl connected to a 4-speed Muncie transmission with a Hurst shifter. The car was painted a little more than 2 years ago and the paint is in good condition but is starting to show a few blemishes. The car is very solid and straight and has very little rust. The interior of the car was recently redone minus the dash. The car has an aftermarket exhaust system with flow-thru style mufflers, so it is quite loud and mean. The 400 has 340 miles on it currently and the clutch was recently inspected and the throwout bearing replaced. It has front disk brakes and rear drums. The engine was built by S&J engines in Spokane. It is a 1974 400 pontiac containing: A brand new forged steel crank Elgin 980P Performance camshaft (.480 intake lift) New Elgin lifters All new new valves, springs, and rocker arms Edelbrock Performer intake Edelbrock Performer 625 cfm carburetor with electric choke Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner Car starts right up even on this cold rainy weekend and runs strong Engine came with a 7-year or 100,000 mile warranty, but I am not sure if that is transferable. The body of the car is very solid and only has rust on the bottom of the driver side fender and small patch in the rear wheel well. The car just had new Radial TA tires put on 700 miles ago. It also retains its original rubber bumpers which are in the best shape that I have seen on any 1974 F-body. The windshield has been cracked and will need to be replaced. The interior of the car has the reupholstered original pontiac highback seats, a new kenwood stereo with kicker speakers, a wood GT Grant steering wheel with tilt wheel, a tachometer strapped to the steering column and new gauges (except for the gas gauge which is finicky). The headliner and door skins were recently redone and look really nice. The transmission is a 4-speeed muncie out of a 1968 pontiac firebird. It has a 10.4 inch clutch which works real well. Buyer is responsible for shipping but I will help in whatever ways I can. And the car will be no problem to load onto a trailer and I would be more than willing to do this free of charge. Overall its a very nice car and I am sure it will go quickly. Feel free to email or text me at any time of the day with any questions at carmail132@yahoo.com or 858-750-0170 |

General Motors Recall List
Wed, Oct 22 2014It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
Another Burt Reynolds Trans Am is up for auction
Wed, Jan 18 2017Fans of Smokey and the Bandit, your car has arrived. This Saturday, January 21, Barrett-Jackson will auction a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am clone that, while not originally in the movie, was owned and signed by the Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds. Not only that, but it packs many modifications that should make this Pontiac drive the way we all imagined it did. This is a Trans Am clone, not an original. The car was built by Nebraska company Restore A Muscle Car, and started life as a lowly Firebird Formula. However, the company brought it up to Trans Am grade and beyond. Under the hood is a fuel-injected 8.2-liter V8 from Butler Performance that Restore A Muscle Car says produces 600 horsepower. Coupled to the big V8 is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. There's even Hurst line-lock on-board, so this Trans Am should be perfect for on-demand burnouts. The car also comes with QA1 coil-over suspension, so it should corner better than the original, too. The outside looks roughly like a stock Trans Am, but it now has 18-inch wheels styled after those from the movie car, and the shaker scoop says "8.2" on each side. View 5 Photos In 2014, a 1977 Trans Am owned by Reynolds sold for a whopping $450,000. That car wasn't an actual movie car either, and lacked the modifications of this one. However, it was used as a promotional car and was given to Reynolds, so it did have some history with the film. This upgraded car is listed in the Barrett-Jackson catalog as "no reserve," so it's going home with a new owner on Saturday, regardless of price. Related Video:
Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon
Tue, Aug 9 2016During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon
