1970 Pontiac Firebird Esprit Survivor All Original 1 Owner 32,089 Actual Miles on 2040-cars
Long Beach, California, United States
A original 1970 Pontiac Firebird Esprit that was found recently in Southern California. Was parked & stored in the garage since 1979, Hasn't seen daylight for over 35 years with only 032,089 Actual Miles! A True Survivor That Remains UnRestored & ALL Original. Last Registered Sticker Was 1979! A All Numbers Matching Drivetrain that has never been out of the car! History: The original owner purchased it new in Los Angeles & cherished from Day 1. Prior to 1979, the Firebird has always been garaged & well taken care. It was barley driven as it was the owners fun car as he explained. The only mods were done was in 1970: the period correct side pipes and a CB. In 1978, the owner had a serious stroke that took his driving privilege away (eye sight). His wife parked the Firebird in the garaged. The original owner never had no intention on selling his "Bird" as he always had the intention on driving again. Been covered in home blankets, bath towels on the interior for close to 35 years. It was started every few months by the wife, then the daughter and recently the brother. Even though it was parked away for so many years, it was never Neglected. The original owner is still the only that has been titled to the car. Factory 70' Firebird Esprit 350 with Air Condition / Disc Brakes / Rally Gauges / PMD Rallyes. I seen many cars advertised under "Survivor" Condition but not many in this category. This is a true example that remains 100% Factory Original Paint - All the factory interior - vinyl top & trim. There's nothing on this car that was restored, it's all genuine date coded GM trim * Factory Coronado Gold With Custom Dark Brown Interior & A Dark Fawn Vinyl Top * Original Born & Raised its entire life in Los Angeles, California, never to left the state. Still has its original Blue & Yellow plates (last registered in 1979). It was only driven less then 10 years on the road, about 3,200 miles a year. When it was driven, the owner mention it was never in wet weather ( it wasn't his only car). The paint was regularly waxed and hand washed only at home. Since it was kept inside all of its life, that only brings good things. One of the nicest GM body's out there. All original panels & paint. NO Rust literally, From top to bottom. All the lines are straight, the vinyl top looks like it just left the factory. All the moldings are in beautiful shape, just look at the wheel opening moldings. The grill is in beautiful shape & original like the rest of the Firebird. All the glass is in beautiful shape including the package tray. The factory PMD wheels shows low mileage, the tires are the second set of poly glass. The trunk compartment is a time capsule, the factory rubber mat, jack & original spare tire/rally (never to been used). The inner wells & rocker's are dry & clean! All the interior is bone stock and in primo shape. The headliner, the dash pad (No Cracks), console, the carpet & instrumental panel are in excellent condition, The pictures serve no justice for being in person. Has the original numbers 350 "YU" Suffix/ Turbo350 Automatic. I verified that the numbers on the bottom of the block do match the body. It's never been rebuilt, or taken apart. Under the hood, it's very clean being true of the low mileage. All stock, no modifications. Factory assembly line chalk markings on the hood. The bird was sitting for awhile, so we took precaution steps to get it running back again. Had all the fluids drained & blew out the lines. Had the original carburetor taken off & rebuilt it completely. Gave it a complete tune-up, flushed the radiator, bleed the brakes, replaced all the fluids & added Mobil 91 Octane gas. Started right up and had her idle for 30 mins. The transmission is tight & shifts great! Rear end, brakes are in great working condition. Driving the Bird down the road is very tight, it drives like it only has 32k actual miles. Very solid and tight, not all over the road. Has original Small California Pink Slip in hand. A Rare Opportunity To Own A True Time Capsule. A Firebird That Has Been Hiding Since 35 Years From Original Owner Doesn't Come Around Very Often I also will be posting a video of the original owner talking of the past history of the Firebird including original mileage & ect so please check back to watch the video... ____________________ Conclusion & Terms _________________________ I have set my auction at 5 Days With No Reserve, so please only serious bidding. Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe
Thu, Feb 21 2019In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003. It even came with a remote, so bad Midwestern farmgirls could make quick getaways when caught in the act by enraged broom-wielding mothers. 6 car mashups that God never intended
Sat, May 17 2014In the 2000s, the musical mashup genre saw a peak of popularity with releases like The Grey Album from Danger Mouse that mixed The Beatles and Jay-Z. UK artist James Pursey from Carwow decided to take the same concept of shoehorning two disparate things together but applied the concept to cars. Your opinion on the results will vary with your sense of humor. These creations are either some funny pieces of abstract art or absolute monstrosities that prove good design should be left alone. Likely the best of the bunch is the Lambotomic (pictured above), which combines a Lamborghini Miura and an Ariel Atom. Granted, the Ariel is little more than a skeleton to begin with, and the outcome looks like a slightly stretched Atom with the new nose and tail from one of the most beautiful vehicles ever. This could actually work. Though, not all of the mashups are quite so pleasant. The Porschiac WW RS (pictured right) is absolutely disgusting. It combines a Pontiac Aztek, which isn't a beauty queen to start with, and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Obviously, the 911 is an iconic shape in autonobolia, but that can't save it from the horror of the Aztek. Pursey fits the its nose, wheel, wing, roll cage and stripes onto the Pontiac. The outcome: A design that will show up in your nightmares. Check out the gallery for the rest of the mashups, including the Humi (a Humvee and a Mini), Aston Smartin (Aston Martin and Smart), Rangerini (Range Rover and Lamborghini Aventador) and the Mazdafenda (Mazda MX-5 Miata and Land Rover Defender). They might not all be beautiful (or even pretty), but it's fun to imagine these oddball creations actually driving down the road. This KITT replica sold at auction for $32,500
Thu, Apr 23 2020UPDATE: This 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica officially sold for $32,500. Here's hoping the new owner has a blast throwin' it into Pursuit Mode. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: This isn't a perfect KITT replica. The original KITT used in the Knight Rider TV series was based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The one you see above, which is currently for sale at auction site Bring A Trailer, is a 1987 model, and since it's a GTA edition, it has some extra body cladding that the smooth-sided television car lacked. That aside, most casual observers would probably never notice the difference, and even those who did (like us) are still likely to be impressed by the car's transformation. This KITT replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It ought to be fairly quick, though quite a bit shy of the fictional car's very fictional 300-mph top speed. We're not exactly Knight Rider experts, but some quick Google sleuthing suggests that the Knight Industries Two Thousand supposedly cost more than $11,000,000 to build in Hollywoodland. This one will surely command a significantly lower sum — as of this writing, it's been bid up to $18,000 with four days remaining on the auction. This content is hosted by a third party. There are several videos of the car that detail its modifications inside and out, but suffice it to say it seems to be a well-sorted replica. Here's hoping its new owner keeps it well clear of other KARRs. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
