Up for auction is a 1969 Firebird 350  with T350 transmission.  I have over 30k invested in this car and my loss is your gain.  When I bought this car in 2011,  I drove it to the Professional Restoration Shop who did all the work.  I just got the car back from the shop.    Finish the car the way you want it!!  I have the title and PHS ready for the new owner.

The car is all ready for paint.  Once you paint the car and reassemble it you will have a really great car. The car is razor straight.    I just don't have the time or money to continue the project.   I spared no expense to get it to this point.  These cars are only going up in value.

Work done to the car:

The complete car was completely stripped down to bare metal and all metal work was done.  Most parts were media blasted. There is NO rust left on this car. Then every thing was Epoxy coated.

The quarter panels, inner & outer wheel houses, floor panels, door skins, dash top and trunk lid were all professional replaced.  Other panels patched when needed.

The original rear end was media blasted and rebuilt.  Leaf springs, shocks, brakes, and parking brakes all replaced.

Bottom of the car was completely stripped to bare metal, POR, Epoxy coated and  had Truck bed liner sprayed on.

The motor (not original)  400 & transmission T350 was removed from the car, stripped of paint & painted, all new seals, oil pump, fuel pump, water pump, timing chain were installed ( rebuilt Holley carb included).  The previous owner rebuilt the 400 motor 10k miles ago.  I just had my shop freshen it up.   I do not have the original motor.   The 400 & trans are currently mounted in the car for transport.  It is not wired up so you can not hear it run.   You will have to bring a trailer to pick this up.

Frame connectors were installed

The subframe was removed, stripped,  mounts repaired , Epoxy coated and reinstalled.

The car has all new bushings installed

Car will come with all new pre bent  fuel lines & brake lines (not installed)  and new wire harnesses for under hood & rear end (not installed)

The car comes with all the parts to put it back together.   All the parts are sorted and in plastic tubs.  Everything is accounted for.  I drove the car to the shop and as the car was disassembled all the parts were sorted and placed into plastic tubs to make sure we had everything for reassembly.   Most parts are labeled.

The headliner and Front seats were completely redone. Everything's new, skins, padding,  rear plastic covers.   All seats, door panels, side panels, dash pad, glove box door, uncut instrument panel and center console come with the car.

The whole car was sprayed in high build,  areas of need were finished in Rage fiberglass body filler and the whole car was blocked sanded 3 times.  The car is now razor straight.

Please look at all the pictures and check out the link I posted from the Restoration Shop.   The link has over 600 pictures of the work being done.

I encourage all interested parties to come view the car.  You will not be disappointed.

The winning bidder must send a $500 Paypal deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction or car will be relisted and negative feedback left.   All sales final.  I also have the car listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early.

You will have to bring a trailer or arrange transport.   You can not drive the car.

Junkyard Gem: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Custom Ventura

Mon, May 22 2023

Like Impala, Skylark, Malibu and Silverado (among many others), the Ventura name began its career as the designation for a trim level or option package used on another GM model, then became a model name in its own right. Initially a designation for a snazzed-up Pontiac Catalina two- or four-door hardtop, the Ventura name moved over to a Pontiac-ized version of the Chevy Nova for 1971. Today's Junkyard Gem, found in a Northern California car graveyard, proudly bears both Catalina and Ventura badging. Actually, the Catalina name itself started out as a trim level for the Chieftain and Star Chief models of the 1950s, just to confuse everybody. By the time this car was built, the Catalina was the cheapest of four Pontiac models built on the same full-size B-Body platform as the big Chevrolets and Olds 88s of the time (the Star Chief, Bonneville and Grand Prix ranked above it on the 1964 Pontiac Prestige-O-Meter). The 1964 Catalina four-door hardtop with the Custom Ventura package offered a lot of swank per dollar, with a price starting at $3,063. That's about $29,821 when converted to inflated 2023 dollars. The main benefit of the Custom Ventura package was an interior done up entirely in Morrokide upholstery. Morrokide was the name GM applied to Naugahyde fake leather when used in Pontiac vehicles; when used in Buicks, it was known as Cordaveen, while Oldsmobile Naugahyde was called Morocceen. Naugahyde took its name from the town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was invented. This car's Morrokide is in rough shape. In fact, everything about this car is decayed and probably infectious. You know to be careful when a junkyard car has warnings about rat feces inked on the glass. That said, I couldn't resist examining the 8-track tapes that littered the interior. Here's Hotel California, the 1976 hit album by the Eagles. Supertramp's Paris, a live album recorded from the 1979 Breakfast in America tour, is here as well. Here's The Best of Carly Simon, from 1975. The tapes were played on this Sparkomatic player, which probably lived in the glovebox or under the seat. The factory radio was AM-only, and includes the frequency markings for the atomic-attack CONELRAD emergency frequencies. 1964 was the last year for mandatory CONELRAD radios in the United States.

Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo

Tue, Jan 10 2017

The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
