1969 Pontiac Firebird perfect father-son project cars runs and drives as is but is in need of restoration. Original sheet metal floors and frame are solid no patches body panels are all original with some rust as seen in the pics. Trunk pan is solid with minor surface rust. Car has been in a barn for years and had not run in 12 yrs. We got the car started and it runs like a champ no smoke at all engine is quiet and smooth. Heater works wipers work have new drivers side headlight molding still in GM box as the one on the car is damaged. Car was originally green with green interior and was painted white at some time. This car is pretty solid over-all but does need some sheet metal replaced or fixed but it does run and drive. Car will make a nice car done and is perfect for a body man who could make this car right will minimal investment. Car is sold as is and perspective buyers are encouraged to come see before you bid as car is available anytime for inspection. General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
