Up for bid is a 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible, 400,Turbo 400 automatic transmission, Power Steering, drum brakes (that work well),Red, Black deluxe interior, Solid Car with no rust. This car Runs, drives and stops fine.It turns heads going down the street. It has a nice rumble thru the Dynomax exhaust system, but not loud.It is very fun to drive as it is a healthy but mainly stock 400.It does have a 488 lift Comp Cam and a Pro Torque mini starter. It has a new B&M quick silver shifter, and a 3000 stall speed converter. The rear end is a 10 bolt but it is posi with a Auburn Locker rear end 3:90 gear ratio, I believe. It also has factory traction bars. You can can mash the gas and leave two black strips until you let off of it or or cruise it all day with no worries of overheating with a new Be Cool radiator. Its not a show car, but not priced like one.It is however a great driver quality / cruise in car.The paint is nice but it has paint chips here and there.Nice straight car, no bondo filler.Floors and trunk are nice. The B.F. Goodrich T/A Radial Tires are like new , the spare has never been on the ground. There is typical chrome flaking on the Cragers but still look well.I encourage anyone interested to come see the car for them self if possible.Your more than welcome to inspect it for your self and drive it before bidding.Feel free to ask any questions you may have I will do my best to answer them. eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
