1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible on 2040-cars
Strongsville, Ohio, United States
1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Here is a very sharp 1968 Firebird convertible. It was originally a 4 speed car (pedals are still hanging and I also have the original "Z" bar and drive shaft that will come with the car). Features a freshly rebuilt (100 miles ago). NOM Pontiac 400 cubic inch motor with a mild cam and paired with a 700 R automatic transmission with overdrive! New Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and aluminum high rise intake! New battery! New B & M shifter. Newer header exhaust system with flow masters that sound awesome (deep throaty sound). Engine runs strong with nice torque and yes this car will light up the tires with ease! New power steering box and new power (front) disc brakes! All new front end parts! Very nice interior. Dash pad is in great shape! Car has new door panels and carpet. New window fuzz seals! Seat covers have also been replaced at some point and are in very good shape (no rips or tears). Blinkers, headlights, speedometer, wipers and brake lights all work fine. Heater blower motor works. Original radio is present and does not work. However, the car has a newer Alpine AM/FM cassette radio with 10 disc CD changer in trunk (ground wire came loose and currently not working). Also has a power antenna. Car was painted about 3 years ago with base coat/ clear coat. I would call it a decent paint job with some nicks and a few blemishes/flaws here and there. However, it shines up nice and is very presentable and rust free through out. The rear quarters were replaced at the time of the repaint. The floor pans have also been replaced and are in great shape. The trunk does have a few fiberglass patches that look to have been done correctly and are in solid shape. The bumpers are original and are in decent shape but not perfect. Chrome is also in decent shape. Newer manual convertible top (does have a small pinch hole but otherwise in great shape). Comes with 15" Crager wheels. Dunlap GT Qualifier radial tires are like new! Car will also come with newer convertible top boot and car cover! I have priced this car to sell!!! Here is your chance to get your dream car at an affordable price! Feel free to contact me with any questions about the car at 440-785-2687 Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. However I will be happy to assist in finding transportation of the car. |

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?
Mon, Aug 31 2020UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Junkyard Gem: 2010 Pontiac Vibe
Wed, Apr 17 2024Just over a month before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2009, General Motors announced that the 83-year-old Pontiac Division would be "phased out" by the end of 2010. Only three Pontiac vehicles were sold as 2010 models in the United States: the Solstice, Vibe and G6 (new G3s were sold here during 2010 but they were all 2009 models, while the G5 was available as a 2010 model only in Canada and Mexico). Today's bit of junkyard automotive history is one of the very last Vibes ever built, found in a yard near Denver, Colorado. This car is significant not just as one of the final vehicles to bear Pontiac badges but also as one of the last cars built by the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated GM-Toyota joint venture in California, better known as NUMMI. The NUMMI factory began life as GM's Fremont Assembly, which built its first vehicle (a C-Series pickup) in 1963 and closed in 1982 after building its final vehicle (an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera). Rebooted as NUMMI, the first 1985 Chevrolet Nova (an Americanized AE82 Toyota Corolla Sprinter) rolled off the line in December of 1984. A quarter-century and better than eight million vehicles hence, NUMMI shut down production after its last Corolla was finished on April 1, 2010. While there was some noise about the Oakland Athletics building a new stadium on the site at the time, Tesla ended up buying most of the site soon after that. Tesla now builds more vehicles per year there than NUMMI ever did. The Vibe was co-developed with Toyota and based on the same platform as the ninth-generation Corolla. The Toyota Matrix was mechanically identical and was built in Canada, while the Japanese-market version (known as the Toyota Voltz) was built on the same NUMMI line as the Vibe and shipped across the Pacific. The Vibe/Matrix/Voltz got a redesign for the 2009 model year, but few noticed due to all the turmoil in the GM world at the time. The final Vibe was built in August 2009. This car was built in July of 2009, just before the end. It was living in West Texas just prior to coming to Colorado. El Paso is about a ten-hour drive from this car's current location. Once in the Centennial State, it got parked somewhere it shouldn't have been and ended up being auctioned to Pick Your Part. An occupant of this Vibe had time to sample some of the local agricultural products before that happened.
