we are selling our 68 firebird, it has a 428 yh engine auto. car needs total restoration. I bought the car several months ago, when I bought it the car was part disassembled the front fenders hood trunk and dist were removed. the previous owner was in the process of restoring it when he became disabled and could no longer work on it. I did not get the keys for this car.  I got the car home and put a new set of points in the dist and installed dist in engine. a little gas in carb and it fired. car had not ran in seven years. the car is running off of a gallon jug of gas, the tank smells like seven year old gas. Power steering and brakes.  It has dual exhaust out to the rear.  the frt and rear floor pans have been replaced by a local body shop, the trunk needs replaced. the right quarter needs replaced the left is in decent shape. I have installed the fenders hood trunk and grill and shot it with a thin coat of black primer to help it from rusting.  The engine is a 68 pont 428  it is a YH engine  it has 375 HP  compression is 10.5 to 1   engine has an unreal rumble, amazing sounding engine, Previous owner was stunned when I decoded the car and engine. He always assumed it was a 400.  This car is being offered for sale locally and could be removed at anytime. If you want to make an offer and it sounds good then its yours. I have a standing offer but the car is worth more than the offer. I am setting the reserve at the offer I already have.

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem

Thu, Feb 13 2014

General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed. GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
